Khârn the Betrayer, aka Conan In Space and "a swell guy", is an (in)famous Khorne Berzerker who revels in bloodshed. He's arguably the third most powerful (ex-)mortal champion of Khorne, behind the World Eaters' Primarch, Angron, and Doombreed. He is Khorne's greatest mortal champion, and being mortal means you can get shit done. As is likely evident, Khârn truly enjoys beautiful bloodshed, and it's almost always he who is causing the shedding, caring little for those caught in the hilarious and fulfilling crossfire; he does not care at all. Thus, he has cultivated a wholly deserved reputation as a teamkilling fucktard (in Warhammer 40,000 rules, this is represented by assigning any close combat attacks he makes that miss the enemy to friendly units instead).

Despite him being a blood-crazed fiend who might decapitate and mutilate the guy next to him, Khârn is quite frankly a delightful fellow to be around. His horrid reputation notwithstanding, he is actually a deep-minded and fun-loving sort of bloke in or outside of glorious, exalted combat. A truly rare breed of super-human, who just wants to have wild and heretical times with his friends. He does not care whether you're a traitor, Guardsman, or a fellow Chaos Space Marine, unless of course you're an effeminate pansy who worships Slaanesh, a dishonorable sorcerer who worships Tzeentch (though his boss tells him that only applies to the cowards...who Tzeentch himself is not as fond of as people think), or the enemy, in which case he'll kill you the first chance he gets. Or if you're Erebus. Fuck Erebus.
The Man, The Myth
Before the Horus Heresy, Khârn served as Primarch Angron's equerry, able to keep himself safe from his Primarch's raging bouts and Tourette-like outbursts. He was also one of the extreme few persons within the Imperium who was capable of talking sense into his eternally angry Primarch most of the time (along with Lorgar, sometimes; and Lotara Sarrin, rarely). The best example of this is how he managed to convince Angron to command the then War Hounds legion, after the Primarch killed every other captain who tried to negotiate.

Khârn himself was also more cool and composed back then, although he still is now....compared to other World Eater marines anyways (even before Isstvan he's credited with massacres that make Death Guard feel a bit ill). Of course, by the standards of regular Space Marines, he, like the rest of his Legion, was still an unstable, murderous barbarian, second only to Clancy Brown's character in the first Highlander film. Although, in comparison to what he has become, he was rather tame. He even had a treasured bromance with Argel Tal, a Word Bearer's Captain, alas, doomed the moment Erebus found out and killed him. Khârn responded in kind (after having been informed by Lorgar who killed his bff, proving that even Lorgar hates Erebus' slimy self) by challenging Erebus to a duel to the death and beating him mercilessly. Lost records amount to Khârn grabbing both of Erebus' fists and punching him repeatedly in the face with them for half an hour, chanting cries of "WHY ARE YOU HITTING YOURSELF" throughout the ordeal, randomly punctuated by equally loud "HUH"s. Khârn was also bros with Sigismund, 1st Captain of the Imperial Fists and founder of the Black Templars, before Horus fucked everything up.

It seems the internecine slaughter on Isstvan III is what set him on the path of Khorne worship for good - he tells Garviel Loken "I am the 8-fold path" during their duel (although when he afterwards hears of the 8-fold path, he only has strange uncomfortable sensation - maybe best compared to some half-remembered fever-dream). Loken escapes by nudging Khârn onto the sharpened prow of a Land Raider. Skane and Kargos told him about this incident after his recovery. Interestingly, Khârn does not remember the fight itself, all he knows is that he almost died on Istvaan III. Also, no World Eater worshipped Khorne until the later dates of Heresy, which is even more interesting, considering World Eaters atheistic attitude started to change only after Angron's ascension, and that was a slow process, Khârn perhaps getting an early start as it was he who Angron, who Lorgar had chained in the basement, tasked with obtaining SKULLS FOR (Angron's) SKULL THRONE. He also killed one million people at the battle of Terra before dying. He dueled and lost to Sigismund, death by dismember.

During his time as a loyalist, he served as a Marine in the World Eaters Legion, but after the Horus Heresy he, like the rest of his Legion, become a freelancer of sorts and so he serves Noone and Khorne. In fact, Noone is the only human in existence that Khârn won't kill, because like Khârn, Peter is just a swell guy.

Khârn's name also seems similar to Khorne (Khar'neth in the Dark Tongue of Warp Daemons); strange how no one seems to have seen his Heresy coming.

His name is derived from the Farsi (Persian) word for Betrayer, so as far as Iranian Chaos players are concerned, his name is 'Betrayer the Betrayer'.

Khârn's showed up in a few books so far, and they consistently show that when he's not fighting, he's actually a pretty smart and classy motherfucker. One particular audiobook detailing when he helped out a buddy of his in some convoluted Khornate politics, and he really does have the sense of humor that doesn't put him above trolling the other World Eaters when they're muckin' about. Just like that one time. Khârn even takes it all in stride and puts some time aside to imagine how he's gonna kill and betray them. Swell guy that one.

It should also be mentioned that this guy is fucking terrifying even to other heretics. This is especially shown in Shroud of Night, where even an intercepted transmission that was him shouting his catchphrase (Kill! Maim! Burn!) is enough to send shivers down the spine of an entire Emperor's Children warband and an Alpha Legion warband.

What's more, after the Imperial Fists kill the khornate warlord, who was bigger than a fucking dreadnought and wielded axes that were on fire, their captain hears the rest of the warband chanting Khârn's name and instantly says they're fucked. You know Khârn is dangerous when even as Imperial Fist, some of the most stubborn fuckers in the galaxy, admits they are fucked.

Fun Khârn fact: He is in fact of Terran Uralian (Siberian-Russian) descent like the Kurgan from Highlander, which meshes well with Angron being a Spartacus clone and the World Eaters basically being in essence Roman-era German Barbarians in SPESS. His voice sounds like a Russian Arms Dealer, which is awesome. Also a possible reincarnation of Lu Bu.

Khârn is also, as a matter of fact, one of the oldest living Space Marines in the universe, having been born on Terra before the Great Crusade, during the Unification Wars; Ahzek Ahriman and Merir Astelan (one of the first 5,000 Space Marines, and a Fallen Angel) is his only known competition for the title.

As the latest (albeit rough draft) FAQ shows, he does also not care about not seeing the enemy, allowing him to kill even invisible units on a 2+. This applies in-universe too when Kharn kills the leader of the Sisters of Silence at the Siege of Terra without even knowing she was there.

Khârn is once again shown in the Siege of Terra series doing what he does best. Later on he battled his former friend Sigismund. The first duel goes Khârn's way thanks to his new strength by Khorne, overwhelming the better dueling skills by Siggy. Only the direct intervention of Rogal Dorn saved him, who swatted our swell guy away like a fly. Khârn would once again face his sparring partner and friend while attacking the inner palace. Siggy had the Black Sword, but what unsettled and ultimately scared Khârn was his utter silence. It made Khârn see what the future warriors of the Imperium would become: soul-dead fanatics who were unrelenting in their devotion to the Emperor. They would bring misery to the galaxy, and Khârn would fight desperately to prevent that future represented by Siggy from happening. A fight against Siggy became a fight for humanity, passion, and life. Siggy would win however, but not before being told by a dying Khârn that Siggy was far more damaged than he'd ever be. A blind man could see how hypocritical this whole segment was.

He somehow survived this, with his fellow World Eaters finding him atop a mound of corpses, then him reviving as they carry his body to a landing ship.
Recorder: Dark Magos Wilhelman

In all the years I've been with this Tzeentchan warband, few things could prepare me for the sight that awaited me on Vasiria Secondus. Our Lord and his contingent of Sorcerers were preparing a great ritual, one that would pull the world into a massive warp-storm, and leaving the world ours to pillage, to conquer, and fortify. The planet's local PDF proved wholly incapable of stopping us, but were proving nonetheless irksome, with protracted artillery barrages from their Griffons keeping both our marines and machinery bunkered down behind cover, lest they be caught in the path of an oncoming round.

In 2 days of steady bombardment, our Lord apparently had lost his patience with the Guardsmen, and instructed his cabal of Sorcerers to continue a ritual to bring forth a tide of Daemons. The Sorcerers began work immediately in the confines of a shattered basilica of the false Emperor, and after nearly a day of sonorous chanting, the ritual began to bear fruit as a yawning rift in real-space began to open...

...And then, it happened. A bellowing scream issued forth from the fledgling daemon-gate, and echoed coldly in our ears.

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!

And there he was.

Tearing himself from the rift was a red-clad, gore-covered warrior, roaring chainaxe in hand, cackling in manic glee as he landed on the basilica's cracked marble floor. The cultist troops of our lord opened fire on the Khornate as he charged forward, their Autoguns pattering off his armor. Stepping forth was my Lord, who drew his Daemonblade, green warp-fire engulfing its surface as he readied to face down this crimson-armored menace, when, inexplicably, the Khornate marine paused, turned towards the Sorcerers who were now backing away, and charged forth again, leaping into the midst and sending them clattering to the floor. Reaching down, the Berserker grabbed for the Sorcerer's force staves, gathering them up under one arm and charging up the stairs, before kicking open the basilica's reinforced door and running out into the streets, laughing with riotous glee.

We heard screams, lasfire, and explosions. And then... Silence.

The Sorcerers slowly collected themselves, and the cultists moved to reinforce the door. Hours passed, and we slowly emerged from the basilica to find that the PDF was no more, every single one of the Sorcerers' force staves were thrust firmly into the engine block of each and every artillery vehicle. Scores of men lay dead from the subsequent explosions. We only learned later from Brother Panthus, a Raptor Champion, that Khârn had apparently delivered these killing blows by walking up on the ridge, and throwing the staves really, really hard. After killing the Guardsmen, he moved forward to continue a rampage into the city, slaughtering several landing members of the White Scars who were helping evacuate the civilians.

It was the first time I had ever seen my Lord in a state of stunned silence. It was just as planned, but for reasons not even the Sorcerers of Tzeentch had expected. A dark chuckle rang out from my Lord as he crossed his arms and overlooked the carnage.

"Hell of a guy, that Khârn."

On the Tabletop
Warhammer 40,000
Khârn has always been a deadly combat monster. He's not as strong as Abaddon, but he's significantly cheaper and still one of the best fighters in the game. His main characteristics have always been hitting everything on a 2+, hitting allies if he rolls a 1, and Khorne's hatred of pyskers giving him extra resistance to psyker powers used against him. His popularity apparently did not go unnoticed, considering that in between the 3rd and 4th editions, he was improved by having his cost lowered and Gorechild getting an extra D6 against vehicle armor. His power meant that armies that didn't use a Daemon Prince would typically use Khârn since he was considered the most cost effective melee option, or Abaddon if they were willing to spend the points (poor Lucius got overshadowed for specializing in something the previous three were already pretty good at). Like Abaddon, he briefly took a hit in the 6th edition due to power weapons being declared AP3, but then changed to AP2 with even more attacks and strength than before. His main drawbacks, aside from attacking allies, are that he's no more durable than a normal Chaos Lord. Khârn's main draw is that, despite his cost, he can conceivably take on any sort of enemy he can charge; having 2D6 armor penetration and an upwards of 7 attacks on the charge backed by an effective strength 7 (5 base, +1 from Gorechild, +1 from Furious Charge) and AP2, he can literally kill anything in the game and can even devastate infantry blobs, which is the standard method of dealing with characters like him. And now he has a pre-heresy mini next to the standard mini, thanks to Forge World.

Note that statistically, Khârn has enough special rules and attacks to blow up an Imperial Knight Titan on the charge in one turn (due to his insane initiative, this happens before the Knight even gets to react). However this is not recommended as the Knight will blow up and take Khârn with it. If you're willing to make the trade though, remember that Khârn is just over half of the Imperial Knight's points. You can also chip away at warlord titans, thanks to armourbane and ALWAYS HITTING ON 2+

Oddly, despite being the top dog among Khorne's mortal champions, Khârn lacks any presence in the Khorne Daemonkin codex, where he'd be able to team up with Daemons who won't pussy out because they got their asses kicked in combat without risk of a random mutation and gain armywide FNP or +1 Attacks. Yeah, you could take them as allies, but it's not the same thing.

Warhammer 40,000 8th Edition
Khârn is still one hell of a swell guy in 8th edition. He now has 5 wounds and a 4++ invulnerable save, making him a bit less of a glass cannon. He sports a rocking base 6 attacks, and the ability to fight twice per turn instead of once. Gorechild ignores all negative modifiers to-hit so Khârn is always hitting on a 2+, is S:+1 AP:-4 D:d3 meaning he will put a lot of hurt on anything he faces with his humongous amount of attacks. His plasma pistol is S:8 AP:-3 D:2, though with Gets Hot Classic Edition (on a '1' he merely suffers a mortal wound, not spontaneous existence failure, and don't forget that aura re-roll).

Not everything is good though since he lost 'furious charge' (he hits at S6 whatever happens), is no longer almost immune to psychic powers and he can never re-roll to-hits of 1 in melee (which is weird because there's a lot of auras out there that let other characters re-roll 1's; including his very own aura). For you fluff fanatics, his misses are still allocated to friendly models as usual, he's 'The Betrayer' after all. Like all characters, he also has a command ability, Kill, Maim, Burn! which allow friendly <World Eaters> units to re-roll missed to-hit rolls... within 1" of him. Yeah... One measly inch. (I mean, even the self-obsessed preening peacock has a 6" aura to boost fellow EC.) This is... rather underwhelming in an edition where characters are supposed to be less one-man-armies and more force multipliers boosting their underlings instead. I mean, it IS there to bring a risk reward to his... little side effect so it makes sense when you think about it.

Chosen of Khorne
Khârn now stars in his own audio drama and he also has a secondary role in the audio drama "Butcher's Nails". Listen to this shit. Spoilers: In a move that should surprise no one, he betrays everyone. Also, it seems he acquires himself a cool-headed equerry (who is also old enough to remember the War Hounds times). Oh, the irony. Shows up in "Trials of Azrael" again being an oddly cool-headed guy for what he is.

Though he was going to lose to Abaddon once, until a Bloodthirster broke them up and even then Khârn didn't stop until it told him that it was Khorne's will for him to work with Abaddon (for the time-being any way) and reap skulls. Khârn also killed Saint Celestine, for what that's worth anyway.

Lucius the Eternal is the sickest fuck in the Emperor's Children, an entire Legion of sick fucks who worship the very god of sick fuckery. That's really saying something. He's also one of the biggest pieces of shit in the whole damn galaxy, up there with Erebus in terms of self-centered, ruining everything bullcrap.

History
Back during the Great Crusade, Lucius was Captain of the 13th Company, where he was the best swordsman in the legion. Meaning, in an entire army of perfectionists, no one was better at sword fighting than Lucius. He was also extremely arrogant, more concerned about his own glory than the Legion's. His arrogance stemmed from his youth on Chemos. Born after Fulgrim's departure, he was educated amongst the nobility and became the youngest swordsmaster the planet had ever seen, regularly beating boys much older than him (and occasionally even his teachers) in duels. Being the very best didn't really help with his personality, and he almost got killed when he ran through one of his opponents for daring to wound him, causing a riot to break out between his admirers and detractors. Luckily for him (and unluckily for the rest of the galaxy) an Emperor's Children Astartes saw the skilled young swordsman and abducted him in the stampede, deciding that such skill with the sword should not go to waste. This, along with him surviving the implantation process and becoming a full Astartes himself, really didn't help with his feeling of superiority either.

During the campaign on Murder, Lucius got himself into trouble with his superior Eidolon for using a xenos claw as a weapon, and then came under fire from Tarik Torgaddon for being a kiss-ass to any senior Emperor's Children marine and obnoxious to anyone else. He later showed off his prowess to the Luna Wolves in the practice cages, defeating Erebus. However, Garviel Loken found a flaw in Lucius' method — his reliance on technique — and beat him with a punch to the face.

During the Battle of Isstvan III, Lucius initially sided with the Loyalists against the Chaos Space Marines. But when command of the loyalist Emperor's Children was taken by Saul Tarvitz, Lucius got jealous (failing to note that every loyalist on the planet would eventually die, and who got the most credit didn't matter — even Tarvitz doesn't get much recognition in the Imperium). It's slightly skimmed over, but apparently Lucius got corrupted by the Slaaneshi cultists' music in the battle on Isstvan III, as he started to become obsessed with the "song of death". Eventually he betrayed their stronghold in exchange for joining the Traitors, tricking Solomon Demeter into killing loyalist Space Marines before murdering him — proving that the age old adage "It is better to die for the Emperor than live for yourself" may have some truth to it. And of course, Lucius got off a little bit on Demeter's anguish before putting the poor guy out of his misery. He then proceeded to toy with Tarvitz after explaining his reasons: "I'm better than you". However, Tarvitz took a leaf out of Loken's book, jumped on Lucius and deployed a tactical smackdown. Lucius then got pumped full of bolter shrapnel, but escaped to get some Fabulous Bill augmentations.

During the rest of the Heresy, Lucius put his skills to good use murderizing loyalists (and organizing an exorcism/BDSM session for Fulgrim). He continued being an arrogant supremely skilled bastard, up until he met Nykona "I don't use the floor" Sharrowkyn, a Raven Guard badass who proceeded to make Lucius his bitch on two separate occasions before stabbing him through both hearts and killing him.

Except the last part didn't quite stick, because he mysteriously got up again after being very definitely dead. Not even Fabius knows how he pulled this off, and Lucius was sensible enough not to stick around long enough for Fabius to find out how it worked by vivisection. He somehow ended up wandering around on Sortiarius, separated from the rest of his legion. After dueling with the Thousand Sons blademaster Sanakht, Lucius accompanied Ahriman and his cabal in their quest to find the shards of the Crimson King. Along the way, he proved to be an effective manipulator, tempting several of the Thousand Sons into doing what Lucius's demonic allies wanted. He also got his scarred face to be temporary fixed to look more like Fulgrim's, before getting it scarred again by fighting inside the Maze of Tzeentch.

But it's (ironically) after the Horus Heresy where things start to get creepy. During one of the random gladiatorial games the Emperor's Children partook in, Lucius was struck down. The experience was so enjoyable that it caught Slaanesh's notice. Not wanting to lose so devoted a servant, Lucius was resurrected in his killer's own body. After that, anyone who struck down Lucius and felt any satisfaction from the act would find themselves possessed by Lucius, who thus became known as Lucius the Eternal. To all the MANLY FOLLOWERS of Khorne, this makes Lucius a total failure compared to Kharn, as Kharn has been killing stuff for just as long as Lucius without dying once (until World Eaters claimed his "lifeless corpse" from the steps in front of the Infinity Gate... still, that's only one death to Lucius' fucktons). To all the FOOLISH IMPERIAL SCUM, this is the most terrifying thing ever: they know they'll never get him with an Exterminatus or orbital bombardment because of plot, and they know that their greatest champions (who have their own plot armor) can't beat him either. He may have in fact aided the Imperium by getting killed by more skilled Chaos Champions and Xenos.

(Though that ability is not foolproof. It certainly wouldn't work against certain people like Kharn, Typhus, Ahriman, Abaddon or any of the Primarchs or God-Emperor or possibly any sufficiently powerful psyker assuming they didn't already explode into daemons. In some of these instances, Slaanesh would bring him back and get pissed at the guy whose soul cannot be possessed, in others they can just nope him out of existence metaphysically.)

The fans have fun speculating on easy and anticlimactic ways to keep him from reviving, like having him die from some unlucky artillery shell from some bored as fuck Guardsmen in Basilisks shell him to death without ever realizing what they did, or trapped by mindless Tyranids or Necrons. Despite absolutely zero chance of this ever happening (because he's a named character in 40k, how lame would it be to die and get written out of the lore in such a weak fashion?) the writers have been taking steps to tell us "not so fast!" regardless. The new Chaos codex has him reviving after a Necron duelist wasted him and took some cold pride in it, so nuts to that, apparently! "Lucius: Pride and Fall" has him resurrecting as a munitorum factory worker who built the landmine that Lucius tripped on (which even Lucius was rather surprised about, especially as the factory worker had absolutely no idea about it all and Lucius popped back into existence light years away from where he died). The fans are now asking what if the person who kills him and enjoys it commits suicide before the transformation occurs. Or: take him alive (easier said then done admittedly, but given Lucius' record at fisticuffs a few Terminators could probably subdue him easily), cut his limbs off, lock him in a metal box, put that box inside another box, then mail the box to yourself, and when it arrives? <s>SMASH IT WITH A HAMMER</s> Build a heavily armed fortress on top full of stormtroopers who think they're just there to support a crusade and BAM, problem potentially solved. Or alternatively, freeze him with a stasis field while activating a tesseract labyrinth to keep him out of the scene. Also the writers claim his plot armor ability is not foolproof, as shown by making Lucius cautious enough to run away if he really is close to dying for real. It's also implied that if he died in the Webway, he'd croak forever; bad news for him because the 8th edition Dark Eldar codex reveals that gladiatrix extraordinare Lelith Hesperax wants to capture him and take him back to Commorragh for a duel and she knows about his resurrection/possession ability but thinks she has a way around it - remove his soul-carrying armor.

But let's face it, probably the easiest, most permanent way of dealing with this asshole is to just inter his lunatic ass inside of a Helbrute and call it a day.

In between Black Crusades, Lucius is said to wander that Eye of Terror, supposedly looking for either the location of Fulgrim's pleasure world, or to find a means to weaponize his penis. If things had gone very differently, he could probably get some help with that from the Iron Hands. At one point he got himself captured by Dark Eldars as part of a contrived bargain they had made with Fabius Bile. He was kept as the main event by a powerful Archon (She controlled a minor Webway realm to herself) but he kept winning and everyone got bored. Bile hooked up him with the drug rack as a means of keeping him alive long enough to pillage as much information as possible. The archon decided that he wasn’t worth the effort of keeping around and ditched him from the top billing. It was also revealed (if by implication) that if Lucius od’d on his new toys, then Bile - as their proud maker - would get turned into him. Jury’s out on how that would work with the whole clone body thing that Fabius has going on.

By the time of the 13th Black Crusade, the Emperors Children Legion (implied to be bigger today than during the Heresy) has fully mobilized to attack the Imperium. Lucius and his warband participated at Extremis Six alongside his Primarch Fulgrim

On the Tabletop
Lucius gets a standard Chaos Lord statline, plus WS7 and I6. He clocks in at 165 points, and is equipped with a power sword, a doom siren, and a 3+/5++. He has two unique abilities: his Lash of Torment reduces the attacks of all enemies in base contact by one and gives all his close combat attacks Shred, and his Armour of Shrieking Souls means that each time he passes an armor or invuln save, the model or unit that caused the wound takes a S4 AP2 hit. He also has the Duellist's Pride rule, which makes his attacks characteristics equal to his opponent's weapon skill in a challenge.

In a codex full of one-trick ponies, Lucy is the ultimate one, being quite good at killing 3+ or worse characters but being otherwise almost totally useless. Unlike Kharn, who you can point at basically anything, Lucius struggles with 2+ save characters. The bane of his existence, though is S8 weaponry, as he lacks Eternal Warrior and will likely get splatted by the first Thunder Hammer/Artificer armor captain he challenges. His low number of attacks (3) and his lack of a second close combat weapon mean that he struggles outside of challenges, too. He does bring a Doom Siren along, meaning double-Siren drive-by fun if you put him in a Rhino with Noise Marines.

8th Edition
8th ed. Lucius got buffed hard, getting a price cut, 5 attacks instead of 3 base and a 2-damage power sword. The Lash of Torment is now an S4 AP-1 D2 Assault 2 weapon that can be fired both into and out of combat, essentially giving him 7 attacks base before additional rules like Death to the False Emperor kick in. Duelist's Pride has changed since challenges are gone. Now, if he directs all his attacks at a single enemy character he gets +2 attacks. Sadly that Doom Siren of his is now totally lame. Ah well. Like every damn character in 8th ed he also gives a 6" bubble of rerolling 1s on to-hit rolls to units with his subfaction keyword, EMPEROR'S CHILDREN. All this for a mere 11 points over a naked Chaos Lord, not bad.

*Alternate opinion: Lucius' swordsmanship is supposed to be "Perfect", but he hits on a 2+ just like every other melee character. Compare him to the Emperor's Champion for instance. Would you rather have +2 attacks or re-roll to hit any miss AND +3 strength vs characters? The Black Sword is just better than the "Blade of the Laer" <s>which slew the Primach Ferrus, because reasons</s> at the time it was possessed by a Keeper of Secrets. Then you have Lucius mediocre saves 3+/5++. They could have at least give him a 4+ in combat; he's Slaanesh's champion after all. The prominent rack of Combat Drugs on his back does nothing. Finally, his character aura is just bland. Look at the auras the Imperial special characters grant. Granting +1S to sonic weapons, FNP within 6" would have been more characterful. While he isn't terrible, the best thing you can say about Lucius is that he's cheaper, and that's really a shame. Maybe when/if he gets a plastic model they'll do something interesting with him.

Horus Heresy
In the Heresy tabletop, Lucius is a Challenge-focused Traitor-only Praetor with an additional point each in WS and Initiative, which he can increase even further. He also gets an additional attack if his Initiative is higher than his opponent's in a Challenge. Lucius has two weapons; his Master-crafted sword Nineteen is only S-User and has no AP, but it does have Rending (3+) and Murderous Strike (6+). In addition, its Duellist's Aegis (1) rule adds +1WS to Lucius when he is Engaged in a Challenge. His second weapon is The Blade of the Laer, gifted to him by Fulgrim after the Drop Site Massacre. It is a Master-crafted S-User AP2 Specialist Weapon with Fleshbane and Duellist's Edge (1). Don't want to to duel against Lucius? Too bad! He has Precision Strikes (3+) and will get you anyway. Lucius is also pretty good at supporting his own unit; he has Stubborn and Preferred Enemy (Independent Character), which also helps him in Challenges. He can purchase Sonic Shriekers for only 10 points and, thanks to his Warlord Trait, The Blade Alone, he and his unit get Fearless when he is in a Challenge, which is handy when taking into account his unit can't use his Ld due to his WT. Lucius also gets one free Reaction for him and his unit per turn in any phase which doesn't count towards your Reaction pool. Lucius is one of the three (four if we count Tsolmon Khan and his WS6 and I10 from his weapon's Hammerhand rule) Independent Characters after Sigismund that can strike at I7 and kill their opponent in a Challenge with Instant Death from their weapons; the other guys are Sevatar and Corswain. Note that Lucius might have a hard time standing against these guys on a second turn of assault, though.

Other Lucius'
Apparently, the name is widespread in the 40k (and even present in Fantasy), and there are a lot of other dudes, places and things named Lucius, amongst which:
*Lucius the Pretendent – another Slaaneshi Chaos Lord, who hilariously cosplayed Lucius the Eternal, by challenging and slaughtering Imperial champions on Medusa V. Accidentally rolled two sixes and ascended to daemonhood.
*Forge World Lucius – one of the top-grade forge worlds, rivaling Mars itself with the quantity and variety of things it produces. Has its own exclusive patterns of Warhound and Reaver titans, as well as STCs of Macharius Heavy Tanks and Cyclops demolition tanks.
*Lucius Drop Pod – big-ass drop pod specifically designed for deploying dreads.
*Elf Prince Lucius - friend of Tyrion who is only mentioned in one Graham McNeill's book, and the only Fantasy character with such a name. He is part of the family that has powerful connections with Cathay, and he regularly wears their robes to make fun of Cathayan style (although Tyrion notices that his costume fits him very well).

It is an old roman name.

Maloghurst also known as The Twisted, The Bearer of the Eye and The Shadow Hand was a member of the Luna Wolves/Sons of Horus legion and was a major brown noser, foot kisser and very close advisors to Horus during that nasty business.

Great Crusade
During the Great Crusade, Maloghurst was a member of the XVI Legion, the famed and feared Luna Wolves. By the time of Horus' investiture as Warmaster, Maloghurst had risen into the senior ranks of the legion. His sharp mind and brutal tactics saw him favoured by his dad and earned him the nickname "The Twisted". He was also known for being so brutal that the Legion that was renowned for using brutal tactics saw what this guy did and thought "that was a bit much". However his fighting days came to a screaming halt during the pacification of Terra (not that one, a different one also known as Planet 63-19), when his Thunderhawk got shot out of the sky and wrecked on the planet below. By some miracle (and perhaps some divine intervention) Maloghurst survived the crash and was able to drag his broken body from the wreck. He was hidden by a sympathetic farmer and was eventually recovered by the Luna Wolves when they stormed the planet. He was pretty much crippled by this event, as his body was so damaged that he would never be able to fight again. Everyone became very embarrassed about calling him "Twisted" after the crash, like having a friend nicknamed Wheels because he owns a cool car who then ends up in wheelchair after an accident. Maloghurst liked the nickname, though, and said he didn't care if people still called him that since he had earned the name and thought its double meaning was fitting. Even though he was no longer fit to fight on the front line, Horus chose to elevate Maloghurst to the position of equerry, and his sheer dedication saw him become the bearer of Horus' and the Legion's standard, a large iron bound Eye of Horus.

The Horus Heresy
When Horus turned traitor, Maloghurst happily followed his gene-father into heresy and most of the Sons of Horus against the Emperor. Around this time Maloghurst became the equerry to Horus and acted as an advisor to his Primarch as well as an enforcer and chief of secret police within the legion (for those curious he was the "lining people up against the wall" kind of secret police). He also seems to have fallen to Chaos a lot faster than the rest of his legion, as he started studying and using the Warp very early into the Heresy. He also took a book out of that one cunt's playbook by creating his own version of the Gal Vorbak, known as the Luperci, just before the battle of Molech (3 years into the Heresy). His status gave him a large amount of power during the Heresy and during the Isstvan atrocity Malaghurst got to boss around Typhus and command him where to attack, much to Typhon's chagrin.

Unfortunately for the crippled bugger, his love for his father ultimately was the death of him. After Horus was rendered comatose by his throwdown with Leman Russ at Trisolian, Maloghurst was very distraught that Daddy had been injured again and accepted the help of Lorgar to enter Horus' throne room on the Vengeful Spirit and perform the same rite as Erebus had when Horus had been wounded on Davin at the end of the Great Crusade. Maloghurst entered the warp and found part of Horus' soul that had been severed by Russ' attack. This soul-shard had seen that Horus had been tricked by the Chaos gods and was having a whinge about the way things were going while fighting against a bunch of daemons. Before Maloghurst could reason with the soul-shard, he was dragged back to the real world by a very pissed off Horus Aximand, who informed Maloghurst that his little warp fuckery session had pulled the entire Sons of Horus fleet out of the Warp and into the orbit of a Blood Angels controlled world. Mal was then thrown into a maze to wander aimlessly while the Sons of Horus attacked the Blood Angels until he was rescued by the commander of the Catulan Reavers. They both fought their way through the Vengeful Spirit to Horus' throne room. Jumping back into the Warp, Maloghurst found the same part of Horus' soul and tried to convince it that spikey armour and daemons were cool and that he should accept the Chaos gods. But the soul-shard was having none of it, saying that everything was FUBAR and the best thing he could do now was die and stop being the Chaos gods' plaything. Maloghurst realised that the only way to "save" Horus was to kill the last reasonable part of him, so he stabbed the shard, killing Horus' last shred of remorse (and sense), along with himself. Afterward Horus was back and had fully fallen to Chaos and with no regrets or doubt about his path. And we all know how that then turned out.

History
Necrosius was once an Apothecary of the Death Guard Legion of Space Marines during the Great Crusade whose original name has long been purged from all Imperial records. During the later years of the Horus Heresy, after the Death Guard turned against the Emperor of Mankind, the Traitor Legion’s fleet was becalmed in the Warp on the way to Terra and assaulted by the infectious corruption of Nurgle, the man who would become Necrosius and his fellow Apothecaries among the Astartes of the Death Guard turned their every art and skill against the strange plagues sweeping their ranks, but it was all to no avail. The decay and disease that ravaged the Death Guard was a daemonic thing of Chaos, and no mortal science or cure could hope to counter it, for the Legion had become the Chosen of Nurgle as soon as they had joined the cause of Horus. Necrosius would not stop trying to find a cure, however, and even as his fellow Astartes died around him, each in turn succumbing to despair and the macabre blessings of Nurgle’s touch, he struggled on against all hope. Necrosius was obsessed with finding an answer, even as the halls of the Death Guard Strike Cruiser on which he was stationed began to unnaturally twist and corrode around him, and in the shadows daemons capered and mocked his efforts. Though his dead comrades staggered back into unholy life through the blessings of Nurgle and his own body had become a bloated and rotted husk of plague, he continued past reason and the bounds of sanity.

When Necrosius heard the voice of his new lord of corruption chortling and whispering to him in the murmurous wings of carrion flies and the sibilant gurgling of rotted, decaying organs, he fully accepted the nightmare truth of what he and his fellows had been damned to become, and embraced the service of his vile God. Necrosius became a true convert to Nurgle’s cause, casting aside his past learning and cherished role as a healer of his Battle-Brothers. He now chose to give himself, blighted soul and rotted body, to the lore of death and the pursuit of daemonic sorcery, and soon excelled as a master of the dark arts of "necromancy" (biomancy). With the zealous conviction displayed only by a true convert, Necrosius quickly gathered a following among his fellows with his baleful oratory and vision of granting the “gift” of death to all Mankind. These first disciples among the corrupted Death Guard would eventually become the first members of Necrosius’ new warband, the Apostles of Contagion. His bitter heart would allow him to bend the knee to no master save Grandfather Nurgle, and even his former Primarch, Mortarion, he obeyed only grudgingly. He long harboured a resentment of Typhus, whose betrayal had sent the once-noble Death Guard Legion to its final damnation after becoming lost in the Warp. It is a resentment that has festered into a deep rivalry and open conflict down the centuries between Necrosius’ warband and the Death Guard faction led by the former First Captain of the Legion.

Soon, Necrosius’ Apostles parted company from their fellows and went their own way, spreading disease and the “gift” of the walking death wherever they went, heedless of to whom they brought their blighted contagion, whether they were servants of the Emperor or other followers of the Ruinous Powers. As a result, Necrosius and his Apostles of Contagion have made many enemies and participated in an unknown number of great atrocities through the millennia since the days of the Horus Heresy, from the horrors of the Dorisca Genocides to the blighting of the Eldar Maiden World of Cth’rawl. During these years the power of Necrosius has waxed and waned many times, and indeed sources both Imperial and from within the Forces of Chaos have believed him destroyed on numerous occasions, whether at the blades of Imperial assassins or in the flames of Ahriman’s sorcerous fires, but always he has returned. This has earned Necrosius the sobriquet “the Undying” among his devotees.

Being one of the most powerful and favoured servants of Nurgle, Necrosius is attended by the tiny, impish Lesser Daemons of Nurgle known as Nurglings. These vicious creatures attack in swarms that bite and claw with infected fangs, their festering bites quickly making a minor wound turn dangerously gangrenous. Necrosius is also adorned with the blasphemous and macabre trappings of a Chaos Sorcerer, including shrunken heads, fetishes (no, not those kind), blasphemous glyph-carved icons, and a personal banner bearing the foul symbols of Chaos, harvested body parts and the like. These totems are thought to have use in ritual practices, providing a psychic focus for the sorcerer’s malign psychic energies, as well as fulfilling other symbolic functions. Being a powerful sorcerer, Necrosius has learned many terrible secrets from the suppurating lips of Grandfather Nurgle’s daemon-kin, including the ability to raise the dead as an unliving zombie plague.

Tabletop
Necrosius lost his Plague Zombies in favor of Poxwalkers in transition to 8e which is not super surprising. T5 W6 A4 Ld9 and a 3+/4++ save. Has Death to the False Emperor and Disgustingly Resilient (duh). Buffs friendly units with THE TAINTED keyword by adding 1 to their to hit rolls during the fighting phase (if you take him in Death Guard, he only buffs himself and Mamon Transfigured). Also buffs Poxwalker units by allowing them to reroll results of 1 for their Disgustingly Resilient rolls. However unfluffy and abhorrent, combining this with Typhus's +1S/+1T to Poxwalkers buff would be a very interesting combination. He can cast two powers a turn, can attempt to deny 3 psychic powers in each enemy phase (cool!), and knows three psychic powers from the Contagion discipline (also cool!).
*Always take him over a Malignant Plaguecaster. He knows 1 more spell, buffs your troops and has better weapons. For just 25 points more.
*Despite basically being a Force Bubotic Axe, RAW his Tainted Force Blade is not a Plague Weapon and thus is not buffed by any ability that affects them.
*Unfortunately, as of 9E, he along with many other Forgeworld characters have been discontinued and moved to Warhammer Legends.

Jago Sevatarion also known as Sevatar, the Prince of Crows and Master of the Atramentar, was (or MAYBE still is) the First Captain of the Night Lords Space Marine Legion, and along with Sigismund, Lucius, Abaddon, Kharn & Corswain was believed to be one of the greatest duelists of his age. Though that was probably due to his penchant for <s>cheating</s> fighting like a Night Lord, using all his resources to win a fight, and by simply being faster and better than most people.
The only time he cheated so overtly was after many hours of duelling Sigismund to a standstill, whereupon he got bored and headbutted Sigismund, knocking him down in a completely unexpected move. Kharn would later attempt to do the same thing, whereupon Sigismund would slam Kharn's face into the ground. Though he technically cheated to win, he was still the only person to ever last anywhere near that long fighting Sigismund, who was almost certainly the greatest Astartes duelist of his time and probably the greatest who has ever lived. Additionally, saying he cheated because he was getting bored is not hyperbolic. He actually did just want the duel to end out of boredom, but he wasn't willing to simply throw in the towel.

He was also an impressively capable leader, by the fact that he managed to keep control over the Night Lords legion after Curze was badly injured by Lion El'Jonson, have people obey his orders to sacrifice themselves for others (not an easy thing when the people are Night Lords), adapt, and genuinely keep shit going pretty well... at least until Konrad Curze decided to wake up and waste it all in spite.

He was also a repressed psyker whose powers were slowly killing him.

Biography
Pre-heresy
As a child, he began displaying psychic powers and could hear the voices of the dead, alongside the thoughts of men or animals, which caused him pain. He was eventually taken into the Night Lords Legion, whereupon he began having terrible visions of the future. Konrad Curze and his advisors immediately learned of Sevatar's psychic issues, as Curze was specifically on the lookout for such occurrences. This was because he had learned over the years that if psykers in his legion started having visions similar to the way he did, it meant that the Night Lords gene-seed was in some way incompatible with its host. Once someone had become a legionnaire however, there was obviously nothing to be done about it; it isn't as though the Astartes modifications could be reversed. As such, Curze and other psychically attuned members of the legion attempted to suppress Sevatar's powers in the hope that they would simply atrophy with time. He also proved an extremely gifted and extremely ruthless combatant. Like most Night Lords, he had bone-white skin and jet-black eyes, and also had a Dracula-esque widow's peak. As pictured above, he also had a set of scars on his face that made it look like he was half sneering at all times.

Sevatar would eventually rise to the rank of First Captain, making him second in command of his Legion and equerry to his Primarch. This was by dint of simply being right almost all the time, which made him a very capable tactician and strategist, although it left him with an air of arrogance. He tended to dismiss the concerns of the legion's Terran-born Astartes, and had difficulty interacting both with them and with the regular humans in the Expeditionary Fleet. He seemingly cared little about these issues, but would admit that he felt envy at those who could so effortlessly joke and bond with others.

He was apparently quite famous amongst the various branches of the Imperial military, as he'd been featured in "countless inspirational Imperial holos" relaying the deeds of the Astartes greatest heroes. He was also described as sounding like an "avalanche somehow given the power to sneer." He is also well known both in and out-of-universe as being one of the single most snarky motherfuckers in the entire galaxy, and exceedingly blunt with other ranking officers and even Primarchs. He was such an annoying dick that he actually managed to irritate Magnus of all people back during the Heresy, and even sardonically called him Uncle at one point. After which both Magnus and Curze himself told Sevatar to shut up. He also found other people's opinions to be generally tiresome, typically because those people were genuinely not as intelligent or insightful as he was. He was also said to be so generally emotionless that he was thought to fake most of his reactions. Sevatar himself acknowledged this tendency in his private thoughts, and noted that he tended to respond in whatever manner he either thought was expected or appropriate to others. In truth, he had virtually no intrinsic emotional reactions to almost anything. For example, in one particular instance of Sevatar speaking with a Night Lords officer called Shang, the latter commented that he found a bit of scenery to be beautiful. Sevatar agreed, but in his private thoughts, noted that he had no idea how to judge whether or not something was beautiful, and simply agreed because he assumed he was supposed to. He also based a significant amount of his interpersonal reactions on what he'd seen other people doing in similar situations. He would, for instance, often smile in greeting because that seemed to be what other people typically did. The most outstanding bit of personality that he seemed to possess was his sardonic wit, as he did seem to find at least mild amusement in mocking those he found to be exasperating.

At some point after the Council of Nikaea, it fell to Sevatar to make the decision about what to do with the Night Lords Librarius, as Curze apparently couldn't be bothered to do so. Sevatar also seemed not to care about what happened to them, and left their fates up to individual company commanders. He did banish their Chief Librarian Fel Zharost back to Terra.

Heresy
At the outset of the Horus Heresy, he was the first person to utter the phrase: "Death to the False Emperor!" during one of Horus' briefings for the Isstvan trap, making him one of the most significant characters of the entire setting.

Sevatar also wore red gauntlets, a sign that he was condemned to be killed by the hands of his Primarch at a moment of his choosing. This was a sentence usually reserved for "Traitors and Fools" though it seems that Sevatar considered himself to be both. What he did to be condemned this way is unknown, but Curze never seemed to have any actual interest in having him executed.

During the Thramas Crusade, when Curze was injured and left comatose after being ambushed by Lion El'Jonson at Sheol, Sevatar was left as acting commander (mostly by killing several other contenders). He then declared that they had done all that Horus had demanded of them and that they should from then on do whatever they wanted to do. So he broke the Legion into six great companies that would operate independently and be under no singular commander where they could rape and pillage to their hearts content, becoming true renegades.

Sevatar then tried using his psychic powers to commune with his Primarch and awaken Curze from his coma, but the Primarch wasn't that interested and knocked him the fuck out. While Sevatar was asleep, the Dark Angels had discovered the Night Lords and outmaneuvered them by using a sentient warp engine that the Lion had discovered earlier in the crusade. After he awoke, Sevatar attempted to retreat out through the Dark Angels' battle lines, until Curze awoke of his own accord and declared that he wanted to board the Dark Angel's flagship instead; which Sevatar proceeded to do by hitching a ride on top of a space fighter. Unfortunately he was overwhelmed and captured.

While a captive of the First Legion, he was contacted by one of their Astropaths on board the Invincible Reason. He initially mistook her for one of the voices of the dead that he was used to hearing, and while in solitary confinement he confessed his sins and failings to her, saying that he saw himself as an agent of justice rather than a soldier or cruel killer. After realising who she was, he eventually came to an understanding with her, reading her mind in turn, discovering that she had been badly beaten and left crippled by her Legion overseer for speaking to him. She helped him escape by freezing his guards and allowing him to escape, but Sevatar chose not to flee. Instead, he made his way to her chambers and strangled the overseer to death, something he saw as his "duty" to perform considering the treatment suffered by the young astropath. After that, he went back to his cell and surrendered again to the Dark Angels.

Rather interestingly, his internal monologuing, his conversation with the Astropath, and a trip inside of Curze's mindscape may have actually succeeded in turning Sevatar into what Curze had always hoped his Legion would become. It seemed to dawn on him during this introspection that there was very little genuine justice in what the Night Lords did, merely order. Where this will go, if anywhere at all, has yet to be seen.

Now with voice acting!

Death(?)
It was said that Sevatar was eventually killed during the Horus Heresy at some point before the Siege of Terra. It's not quite figured out where or by who yet. And considering the character of his Primarch and Legion as well as the nature of his condemnation, it might not be that glorious a death either... though there are rumors that he may still be alive somewhere. It is highly unlikely however, that Curze would have been the one to have killed him. Curze's movements after the Thramas Crusade are fairly well documented, and at no point was he recorded to have encountered Sevatar after the Crusade's end. He himself seemed surprised after the Heresy to learn that Sevatar was "dead". It should be noted that Curze learning of Sevatar's death was presented as a Night Lords legionnaire reminding his completely insane Primarch of something he should already have known, or had been told previously. The only chance Curze would have even had to kill Sevatar would have been during their stay aboard the Invincible Reason, where Sevatar had been imprisoned and Curze had been hunting Dark Angels. It also would have had to have happened offscreen, and Curze would have then needed to tell others, forget that it had happened, and be reminded, for the above exchange to have occured.

As of the start of the Siege of Terra books, the last time he was seen was as a prisoner on the Invincible Reason by Gendor Skraivok via the powers of the Pharos. Konrad Curze apparently hadn't seen him since the end of the Thramas Crusade and neither had the majority of the legion, casting doubt on whether he was actually on Terra during the Siege or not. Seeing as the Lion was busy burning traitor worlds during the Siege, it remains to be seen if he managed to escape.

Some on /tg/ believe he might have ended up as a Knight-Errant (which is unlikely, given that most of them are now gone to Titan) or perhaps one of/the first of the Carcharodons.

Tabletop
|| Pts || WS || BS || S || T || W || I || A || Ld || Sv
Sevatar || 175 || 7 || 5 || 4 || 4 || 3 || 6 || 4 || 9 || 3+

As mentioned, Sevatar was considered one of the deadliest warriors of his age and his rules do not disappoint, though he does not compare to Sigismund in terms of who would win in a straight up "fair" fight (though he was said to have beaten Sigismund in a duel by cheating) (Actually he headbutts Sigismund so the duel gets suspended. Not really much like cheating, more like going for a tactical victory) nor does he match up to Kharn in terms of overall killiness.

Instead, Sevatar has some nasty tricks up his sleeves. He inflicts Instant Death while in a challenge and has four WS7 I6 S5 AP3 Rending, Master-Crafted attacks. While this might not necessarily seem scary to a character with Artificer/Terminator armour, just remember that they only need to fail one save against him unless they are Eternal Warriors. However, as of book 9 Sev is finally ready to take his place as a supreme badass character killer. For 35 points (worth it...) you can equip him with Artificer Armour and a shiny new chainglaive with a silly name and Duelists Edge and AP2 (and yes, it is still Master Crafted). So, if you can get everything right, you'll end up I7 in a challenge (I8 if in Terror Assault), with 4 base attacks, likely hitting and wounding on a 2+ (if you outnumber), rerolling to hit / wound and his 2+/4++ saves. This makes him absolutely evil and he will hack through most characters, but like his fluff, he has avoided becoming tabletop mary sue like Sigismund.

He also is a repressed psyker, which in rules terms means he can only harness two warp charges in a turn, but since he has only one power that's not such a terrible condition. That power is "Precognition" which further turns him into a monster character since he can re-roll pretty much anything. Which means he can really push for those rending AP2 melee attacks if he really needs to hurt something.

Finally, he prevents scatter for deep-striking Terminators if they're deployed within 6" of him, and if he's the warlord Atramentar Terminators become troops and he has Master of Ambush as his warlord trait, meaning you can pull sneaky infiltration shenanigans while also dropping a giant murderball of Terminators exactly where you want them to go.

Also remember he is a Night Lord, meaning, if his unit outnumbers the enemy at any initiative step, he gains a +1 on to hit and to wound rolls, which when coupled with Master Crafted and his Precognition means he will likely be hitting and wounding on rerollable 2+.
He is also known as the "Blood Reaver" and by his more recent name: "Huron Blackheart".

If it's any consolation, the vidya gaem: Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 pronounces his original first name as "Luh-ft", so we can assume that the g is silent. Though that game also pronounces Lupercal as loo-PURR-cull, so take its pronunciations with a teaspoon of salt.

Fun fact; he's actually one of the oldest special characters that the Chaos Space Marines have; he debuted all the way back in the original "Codex: Chaos" for 40K 2nd edition, alongside Abaddon, Ahzek Ahriman, Fabius Bile and Kharn. That's right, Typhus and Lucius didn't show up until around 4th edition!

History
Before becoming a Space Marine, he was originally a cheery Hobbit named Lugfoot Hurkins on his home planet of Bree-VIII. A series of bureaucratic cockups led to his being inducted into the Astartes a few days before his eleventy-first birthday instead of being awarded an Imperial mushroom-farming concession (which was awarded to a confused Technobarbarian from Badab IV named Lurgt Hurkon).

Chapter Master
Lugft Huron is the textbook example of what happens when you let damned bureaucrats run things into the ground. When he became Chapter Master of the Astral Claws, he was an arrogant douchebag that had one job: defend the perimeter of the Maelstrom Warp storm and make sure nothing comes out of it to rape the shit out of the Imperium. But boy, did he ever do his job and did he do it well. After his predecessor got killed by an Ork Warboss, he led his whole Chapter on a merry dance of purging worlds close to the Maëlstrom and generally stabilizing both the region and the situation. Everyone in the general vicinity lauded him as a man of daring action and there was much rejoicing.

Then civilian unrest broke out on his Chapter's homeworld for the umpteenth time. Huron was really tired of that shit, so he decided to take control and put his Marines in charge of things. Thus, the Astral Claws became the de jure rulers of the Badab Sector, with Huron himself as the Tyrant of Badab. This worked out decently well, and while not always fair and just his methods made the Badab sector prosper under his rule. Spurred on by his success, he sent aforementioned fuck-ups a nice petition requesting more troops to decisively take care of the Maelstrom and getting rid of that thorn in the side of the Imperium for good... It was dismissed without even being read!

And that's where everything went wrong forever. When his requests to the High Lords of Terra for increased resources to consolidate his gains were denied, he decided that in the absence of help from the Imperium he would run things his own way. He refused to hand his gene-seed tithes to the Adeptus Mechanicus, and when the Imperium came calling he blocked trade to and from his Sector in order to keep the gathered resources for his military. Eventually, he attracted the attention of the Inquisition and when Huron blew them off, they decided that they needed to remind him who answered to whom in the subtlest, softest way possible. Thus, the Badab War was launched.

In the end, Huron's rebellion was crushed by the forces of the Imperium, as something like a dozen Space Marine Chapters responded. Of course, Huron wasn't just a rebel, he turned out to be a heretic too (although when exactly he turned to Chaos isn't entirely clear). In the final battle on Badab Primaris, Huron was horribly injured by a melta-blast from a dying Zhrukal Androcles (9th Captain of the Star Phantoms) while trying to escape his palace. Losing heart, the Astral Claws fled with their fallen Chapter Master. Lord Apothecary Garreon, Apothecary Secundus Variel, and Master of the Forge Armanneus Valthex (guys who had earned the charming nicknames of "the Corpse Master", "the Flayer", and "the Alchemancer", respectively) set to work trying to save the life of Huron and succeeded, after making him, functionally, Chaos' answer to this motherfucker. However, they had a little help. While comatose, Huron was visited by the Chaos Gods, who offered him the power he craved and vengeance against the Imperium which rejected him. Huron agreed, and with his remaining forces fled to the Maelstrom.

Chaos Lord
He is now known as Huron Blackheart, and those forces remaining under his command are called the Red Corsairs. After several years as a powerful space pirate, Huron would go on to gain control of a significant portion of the Maelstrom (the older, but smaller brother of the Eye of Terror) with his vast pirate fleet, made up of space marines who turned traitor, many other human reavers and some Xenos mercenaries.

One of his greatest achievements as a pirate lord was the capture of the Wolf of Fenris; a Strike Cruiser, where according to some sources (the very skubtastic 4th edition Chaos Codex), some of the defenders turned on their brethren and surrendered to the Red Corsairs.

By the end of M41, Huron is the second most powerful Chaos Lord in the galaxy after Abaddon himself; a fact that annoys Abby to no end, not least because Huron has not been subtle in hiding his ambition to take Abaddon's place as Warmaster. Not only this but Huron did it FAST, as in, in the space of several decades, since the Badab War only ended in 912.M41 so he's a relative newcomer in the grand scheme of things, but he's accumulated more power faster than many more well established warlords.

He's also powerful enough that he can just give away warriors as well by hosting the Skull Harvest in the Maelstrom, he awarded over 17,000 warriors to a sick fuck.

One thing fans tend to miss, while those that are new to the setting get right away is that Huron, being space pirate captain has cybernetics equivalents of a peg leg, hook, eye patch and even captain's parrot in a form of his daemon familiar.

Huron once lost to Typhus, who allowed him to live. In-universe, Typhus reasoned that the humiliation and resentment from such humbling might just open Huron's soul to Grandaddy's influence more. (And out-of-universe, it's evidently because named characters can't permakill one another, except rare circumstances.)

The Red Corsairs possess the second last remaining Blackstone Fortress given to them by Abaddon (why? He's openly planning to replace the guy, that doesn't exactly scream 'give me superweapons' it's surprisingly good tactics from Abby for once, post-Cadia having a Blackstone Fortress puts a target on Huron's back elevating him from pirate lord to potential conqueror of systems meaning the Imperium will divert resources to dealing with Huron that could have been used against Abby). The other one was discovered in M42 and was not in any records until then.

Supposedly he now has the power to be at two places at once.

Tabletop
There are two versions of Huron; before and after. One of which represents him as Chapter Master of the Astral Claws whilst the other is the Chaos Lord form.

Bizarrely, the two versions share virtually nothing in common.
As Chapter Master; he has an extra wound & attack and terminator armour with a heavy flamer equipped. He also has the ability to get back up once per game if defeated, lets the entire army use his Leadership 10 and the normal Chapter Master bombardment ability becomes Ordnance 2, because it was Huron himself who said "Big Guns Never Tire". His relic is a pretty amazing AP2 lightning claw that forces re-rolls on invulnerable saves. So non-Chaos Huron is a bit of a monster and with an "as much as a Land Raider" price tag to go with it, not quite as good as some of the other big heavy characters, but by no means useless.

After he got hit by Androcles melta-blast and rebuilt he took a bit of a dive in power, losing that wound and attack, as well as his Terminator Armour. His claw got replaced with an S+2, AP3, Armourbane one, but the Heavy Flamer ended up getting built into it. He takes an Axe for his AP2 needs, but unfortunately he's nowhere near as good in melee as before. All of his army-buff and "living legend" abilities also got lost so he doesn't add as much to his army (but then again, few Chaos special characters do these days), but he gets the Hamadrya which grants him a random psychic power every turn. (Bit of Trivia -Hamadryas is a genus of several butterflies and babboons. The name Hanadrya comes from Greek -a kind of wood nymph. It literally means "Together Tree". If the tree died, it would die. This is probably a reference to the fact that the Hamadryas familiar was spawned from the Maelstrom and Lugft couldn't venture far from the area without the creature weakening. Later he trapped the soul of a powerful sorcerer in a vessel to nourish the Hamadrya)

For all of the nerfs, his price tag was also reduced considerably, so he makes for a pretty decent, cost effective, unmarked Chaos Lord who can pull a few tricks out of the bag.

There is an argument that the later chaos version really should have been better, especially since other characters who have received a cybernetic rebuild ended up with improved stat-lines, so why didn't Huron?
One could wonder why his rules don't really transition from one to the other with similar expectations; (Other than the fact that the Chaos version came first) Probably due to the internal balance of the codex... and increase in stats could end up too much like Typhus who is meant to be the resilient one with psychic powers. Or if they just took the Chapter Master version and "added Chaos" he could end up too similar to Abaddon who is meant to be the top-dog. So essentially the rules differences allowed Huron to be played distinctly from the other character options available.

Telemachon Lyras (originally Telemachon Lyral) is a swordmaster and one of the founders of Black Legion, being Failbaddon's lieutenant. He was born on Terra and became a part of 51st Company of Emperor's Children. With the start of the Horus Heresy, Lyras defected alongside his primarch to Chaos and joined the Honour Guard of his battle brother Eidolon.

After Horus died, he defected to Kadalus Orlantir and became his second-in-command, raiding and killing his former brothers. During one of this battles, he was badly injured and then healed by captive Dark Eldar Nefertari, which Lyras rewarded with torture. That only fueled their love by the way. Anyway, Lyras helped Abaddon fight the clone of Horus, and was promoted to his Lieutenant and Herald.

He is lastly mentioned during the Seventh Black Crusade, where he slaughtered some Blood Angels. He still loves (and tortures) his beautiful Dark Elf slave and dislikes his brother-lieutenant Iskandar Khayon (Khayon was one of the guys that wounded Lyras, so nothing unusual there).

As if that wasn't enough he's also got a thing for Iskander's sister Itzara, referring to her as one of the mythological Chemosian "water spirits" (i.e. incredibly beautiful) while she's in her Anamnesis bubble thing. One could only imagine Iskander's response something along the lines of "bro don't hit on my sister even if half her brain WAS eaten by a giant space wasp, it's not cool!", in Lyras' mind that just makes it hotter (he is a Slaaneshi marine after all)!
Blood Ravens, hear me! I am Araghast the Pillager!

Araghast the Pillager of a thousand worlds, Master of Hounds, the Lash of the Black Legion, Champion of the Chaos Gods (also known as Lord Araghast or simply Araghast) was the Chaos Lord (Or more specifically, a Chaos Terminator Lord) leading a Black Legion War-band on Aurelia. Arrogant, bloodthirsty, manly, awesome and very boastful and prone to taunt. Feared far and wide for his terrible savagery, and among the greatest warriors of the Black Legion. He wields a great many weapons, including a power/daemon sword, a combi-bolter, a combi-flamer, lightning claws (of an older design than loyalist variations, meaning that rather than giving you wolverine type claws while leaving your fingers free, the actual claw part is placed over your fingers. So basically he's Lady Deathstrike, pretty appropriate if you bring Cyrus along).

He is also notable as one of only <s>three</s> <s>two</s> three badasses the Black Legion has ever produced (the other <s>two</s> one being Horus <s>and Eliphas</s> he was a Word Bearer, duh - and that says a lot about how awesome Araghast is), and being one of the only three people who have ever lived up to the awesomeness of their Legion's paintjob. A revived Araghast may end up Sindri'ing Abaddon and thus replace the Warmaster with someone who is actually <s>halfway</s> competent (Nah I'd say "halfway competent" describes Araghast pretty well. Lacking a functional Sindri detector is a problem for Chaos Lords it seems), which is a major step up from Abaddon who can't even manage to be a quarterwit.

The wet dream of every Chaos fan is for Eliphas, Araghast, Nemeroth and Sindri Myr to form an unstoppable dream team and lead the forces of Chaos to GLORY.

Chaos Rising
He invades Aurelia. Inciting rebellions and incursions and sending out various strike forces to attack Imperial worlds on Aurelia. On one of the missions,he is seen, along with Eliphas, watching as the blood ravens escape. Araghast states that he allowed them to escape because killing them now will lose the value of the traitor within their ranks (A rather rare and sneaky feat for one who serves A Gigantic Bloodthirsty Maniac who has a fetish for Skulls). He later challenges the Blood Ravens to a battle (Which he soon learns is a mistake he will not live to learn from). Nearing death, he calls for Eliphas to open a portal. But Eliphas, being the awesomest Chaos Lord ever shat out by Relic (but also a motherfucking bastard), leaves him to his fate. He still manages to wound the Blood Ravens rather nicely. Slaughtering many of their followers, destroying their worlds as they did nothing, and managed to put up a much better fight than the Tyranid Hive Tyrant Alpha at the end of the first game. Unless you used Davian Thule. Or Cyrus. Or Tarkus. Or all three of them.

Though the poor Hive Tyrant was mobbed by all five squads of blood ravens, Davian Thule, and Gabriel Angelos all at the same time while Araghast only had to fight four of the seven Blood Raven characters/squads at once, although these four were most likely shitting cheese everywhere with the new upgrades and their possible Heresy rating. While he had more health (about 25,000 hit points more or so) than the Tyrant Alpha, he had the same Goddamn DPS as the Hive Tyrant Alpha, which is to say, if you had the same fucking OP gear, NONE AT FUCKING ALL BECAUSE HE CAN'T PIERCE TERMINATOR ARMOR OR DAVIAN THULE'S SHELL. Sadly, due to this faggotry, he proves to be a lesser challenge than freaking Ulkair, Eliphas, or Martellus' Predator of HAX, who were just painful unless you had Chaos Powers. Oh, sweet, sweet Chaos Powers... But Araghast is and always will be more fun to fight, hitting just the right balance of fun and challenge. Even so, he can one-shot three Terminators with a fireball and at least does some more damage than the friggin Tyrant Alpha. He also seems to get his MOTHERFUCKING game on at his last quarter of health and beats the shit outta everything. Khorne knows why he didn't do that at the beginning, but I digress. And even so, a single Chaos Lord putting up such a fight against 11 Blood Raven Terminators, three scouts, a librarian and a (most likely Venerable) Dreadnought is an act of complete badassery.

He was also both outdamaged and outhealthed by Martellus and Eliphas. Martellus was just pure utter bullshit to fight, his DPS was ungodly, which is made worse by his long range, he called in ungodly large hordes of minions to help him, his armor type is difficult to pierce with most weapons, and he has a fuckton of health. Eliphas somehow has more health than Araghast despite wearing neither terminator armor nor a helmet (and Martellus' tank, don't question it), and can summon giant shrines to Khorne that let FUCKLOADS of Bloodletters fight alongside him and Tzeentch Shrine doombolt spewers are just pure utter bullshit. And bullshit high melee damage. Seriously, Araghast (and any of the traitors other than Martellus) was the only fun major boss to fight.

About Araghast
He died too fucking early in the franchise, THAT IS WHAT WE KNOW OF HIM. BRING BACK ARAGHAST!!!
He is an Exalted Champion of Khorne with warp powers...GG relic (Just like Carron and Crull. However, unlike them, <s>he's not JUST a raging maniac, he's a raging maniac who's feared and respected for his phenomenal fighting ability. Something Khorne expects unconditionally from his Champions.Black Legion, and therefore Undivided. </s>He just leans more heavily towards Khorne.)So it is important to note that he is not exclusively devoted to Khorne as he made extensive usage of sorcerers within his Grand Company (the Legiones Astartes version of a chapter) and he himself relied on sorcery in his last battle, teleporting away to catch his breath every now and then and quite clearly intended to flee the scene when he asked Eliphas to open a portal after being reduced to having naught but a small sliver of health.

As stated above, he is very boastful and among his many exploits is the ravaging of a thousand worlds (Which is totally badass. Again, as is stated above, he is prone to excessive taunting. He constantly mocks the Blood Ravens by calling them "Lowly Lick-Spittles", "Dead and Useless as the Empra",and <s>insulted</s> trolled them further by calling them "Brothers", a fad that seems to be growing amongst Chaos Space Marines since Eliphas, it seems. He seems to treat Eliphas quite well. Though like all Chaos Lords,he still treats him (rightly) as a lowly, defenseless, dependent, lickspittle coward. <s>Which Eliphas was until Retribution</s>. Still, he was in Chaos Rising.

He may have sent said incompetent sorcerer to Calderis to attack the Blood Raven initiates with the full knowledge that the sorcerer would probably not make it out alive in order to dispose of his potential threat to his leadership and thus avoid being Sindri'd. He may have also done the same to his Plague champion on Typhon for the same reason. But alas, he still ended up getting Sindri'd, by Eliphas.

Apart from his personality, he's also very powerful. And to prove this point, here's something that will make it perfectly clear: HE'S WEARING FUCKING TERMINATOR ARMOR and unlike some other incompetent fuckwad of the Black Legion instead of staying in the back coordinating what, where, and when shit happens, he's out in the front lines putting that heavy clunky hunk of armor to good use (and admittedly he's rather great at it).

Trivia
*Many fans, at first, thought of him as Eliphas, as he is voiced by <strike>Paul Dobson</strike> Fred Tatasciore, who did an impersonation of Paul Dobson. (Who was the original voice of Eliphas during Dark Crusade). In skirmish mode, he is voiced by Steve Blum (That guy who does Cyrus' sexy voice) and he does a FUCKAWESOME job of it!! The voice is gonna become lower and angrier in the Retribution. To the delight of some, and the anguish of others. Fuckin' unpleasable fanbases.
*Of all the other previous Chaos Lords (Bale, Crull, Carron) he almost approaches Eliphas' badassery, The only thing negative about him is his habit of making fatal mistakes. Like challenging the Force Commander Hairgel and his squad which resulted in getting his ass whooped. Another is trusting Eliphas to oversee the teleportations which resulted in Eliphas SINDRIII'ing him. Despite this, he actually put up a pretty good fight, and even when he was on death's door, when Eliphas refused to open a portal to take him home, he managed to use his last ounce of strength to RAGE at Eliphas as if he wasn't horribly injured (which he was) and make his last (but somewhat futile) stand against the Blood Ravens. To be fair, as stated above, he does get his game on and goddammit, is it awesome.
*He cannot say anything without a MASSIVE amount of ham and makes up for the lack of hammy lines in Dawn of War 2 on his own. He is then promptly outhammed by Ulkair.
*Some compare him to Christopher Walken's "chaos." Because they are so stupid and so stupid. However, unlike Christopher Walken, Mount Aragats suddenly does not tend to utter strange and irrational phrases (jelly donuts, jelly donuts, etc.) and surprises the viewer without knowing where they are. What he said made them sad. Like the story of Avitus. And that's how clean the player is.
*Araghast has seen Ultramarines:The Movie and was disappointed by its low production values, storyline, inaccurate portrayal of Loyalist and Chaos Space Marines, but praised its music and voice acting. He hopes that fan film The Lord Inquisitor will be better.... which will never happen though as the original programmer decided to trash the project and work on a robot movie instead noone cares about. But fear not. This was not the Death of Hope (pun intended) for an actually good wh40k movie.
*He resurrects the old Warriors of Chaos style in his armour. No seriously, check him out!

Torquill Eliphas 'the Inheritor (or simply Eliphas) is a Chaos Lord and former Dark Apostle featured in the Warhammer 40K Dawn of War vidya geym series. He made his first appearance in Dark Crusade as the villain protagonist/main villain who led Chaos Space Marines of the Word Bearers legion into battle on Kronus, and surprisingly made a future appearance in Dawn of War 2 expansion Chaos Rising as a champion of the Black Legion. Eliphas is an Ensemble Darkhorse. That means that he's a character who's gained an unexpected level of popularity, as he was intended as a one-shot character. This was due to a number of factors, the most significant being that he was badass. (He now has his own book, bitches! So yeah. It's here, set during the Horus Heresy where he tries to open a portal in Kronus. Yeah, really!)

Eliphas was truly an anomaly. In what would become a series of incompetent Chaos Lords, he was actually a legitimately cool character. His was a personality of insane zealotry, berserk bloodthirst, dark charisma, and tactical genius. He had excellent voice acting, an excellent aesthetic, and also wondrous gameplay. He was without doubt one of the most deadly hero units in all of Dark Crusade, capable of taking down and destroying utterly Gorgutz 'Ead Unter and the Necron Lord (unless he used that Essence of the Nightbringer ability. seriously, Artifacts allow the Necron lord to handily outclass Eliphas, if only by virtue of the Noobcron lord being untargettable during EoN. <s>Fortunately it doesn't last long, he's easy to kite and his damage is pretty shit compared to Eliphas' anyway.</s>) Keep in mind that this was the time Dawn of War was gaining more RPG traits. He also was loved for his sinister, cruel quips and dickish manners, consistently putting down his enemies not only on the battlefield, but also with his eloquence. He was also the first to imply the Blood Ravens' possible descent from a Traitor Legion, making him incredibly important to the overarching plot arc of the Blood Ravens.

Despite his apparent death in Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, Eliphas' legions of fans did not go unnoticed, and he was brought back as the main villain in the Chaos--themed expansion to Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising. Here is where some people think it all went a bit down hill.

Eliphas was downgraded here from a mighty Chaos Lord into a mere Chaos Champion, under the command of an equally badass Chaos Lord named Araghast, justified given that Eliphas LOST in Dark Crusade and the Chaos Gods are not known to reward failure. This new appearance of Eliphas did away with the character's badass helmet and voice. Paul Dobson was replaced with Steve Blum due to the former also being the voice actor for Gabriel Angelos, even though the latter is the voice of Cyrus. Steve Blum's voice acting was excellent all the same and many consider him equal to Paul or indeed, surpassing him. However, others feel that the voice didn't need to be changed and were disappointed. Some fans felt alienated and when Eliphas was defeated yet again, and decided to look to Araghast himself as Eliphas' successor. Ultimately, Eliphas was less well received in Chaos Rising and a percentage of his fanbase were disillusioned with the character. It was also implied in the end that Eliphas in fact served the the most despised Chaos Lord ever to serve the Name of Chaos. This evoked the expected response.

But that changed with Retribution, where Eliphas was given Terminator armour and was made a playable character again. Here, he was once again the single most powerful melee combatant in the game and could now get DAEMON SWORDS. He was also given some of the best writing and truly seemed like the brutal evil warlord he always used to be. Unfortunately, he had to suck up to Abaddon again, but hey. What did you want him to do? Spout out every reason why he's a failure to his face? Games Workshop would throw a bitchfit.

So yeah, people are generally divided on what to think of Eliphas, but most agree that he's a complete badass. Probably the most iconic character in the game, second only to Angelos.

Horus Heresy
AND NOW HE'S CANON! It remains to be seen whether the book Inheritor is simply a nod to Eliphas' videogame awesomeness or if this is a sign that he may be promoted to playing a bigger role in the setting (wouldn't be first time that's happened), but we can hope!

The story itself fleshes his character out a bit. Turns out he has massive Daddy issues, and wants to burn the Imperium so Lorgar will finally notice him. No doubt that Eliphas is probably jealous of his brother Argel Tal.

Dark Crusade
Eliphas was known to be already present on Kronus during the events of Horus Heresy, where he participated in a battle against the Ultramarines as a young champion (Lord Eliphas, fresh from his victory in Aurelia, recently told the full details of this defeat; it turns out that he was stuck from behind accidentally by a retarded Ultramarine named Cornelius; who was elevated to sergeant for this act. Cornelius, to this day, has never once more been promoted). When the Word Bearers were routed by the Ultrafags, he was damned to the Basilica of Torments and returned to the mortal plane after a thousand years of torment as a mighty and terrible Chaos Lord of the Word Bearers and brought others under his warband.

Later, during the opening phases of the Dark Crusade, Eliphas and the Word Bearers were summoned back to Kronus by a Chaos cult at the Third Temple of Black Succession in the far south of the Deimos Peninsula. This cabal had turned to Chaos in light of their experiences with the recent rise of the Necrons on Kronus, and Eliphas had answered. Using the knowledge gained from The Book of the Epistles of Lorgar, their leader Virgilius planned to bring Eliphas to Kronus. On the eighth night of their visit to the Temple, Virgilius led them to the great chamber at the temple's heart, where he and eight of his cultists were sacrificed on an icon of Chaos. The Warp opened between the points of the eight-pointed star and Eliphas stepped forth, heralding the beginning of the Ninth Inheritance. Thus, presumably, we have an idea on how he got his name. Eliphas' objective is slaughter the other powers on the planet in glorification of Khorne and bring it under his thrall as a daemon world.

Throughout the campaign he has the following opportunities to get even closer to the Dark Gods: He gets even more favour with the Blood God by assraping the Orks and giving the big guy their skulls along with that of Crull's, Slaanesh's by busting open Eldar soulstones so that the hermaphroditic freak can have a late night snack, Papa Nurgle's by releasing a Great Unclean One from captivity, and Tzeentch's by pwning all the Motherfucking Necrons. Somehow, he can even get the favour of Abaddon if he fucks up the Blood Ravens (maybe Abaddon was watching and decide that he has wonderful arms...you know) and the favour of the Word Bearers' primarch Lorgar by raping the Tau (because he hates the atheistic weeaboo communists even more than /tg/ and that's saying something).

Since the canon winners of Dark Crusade are the Blood Ravens, how much he actually accomplished is up to debate, though due to his closeness to Khorne, we can assume he at least retrieved Crull's skull from Gorgutz in a skirmish or something. In the end, however, Eliphas was defeated by Davian Thule and his Blood Magpies and was judged by Daemon Prince into oblivion.

Chaos Rising
As a result of his unexpected popularity, Eliphas returns in Chaos Rising. He fights as a champion for the Black Legion against the Blood Ravens in Aurelia, having been brought back to life by bargaining his way from the Warp and just fighting his way out in other segments. Like <s>Kratos</s> a true badass out of hell. He then joins forces with Araghast the Pillager and serves as his second-in-command. Only to SSSSINNNNDRRRIII his new master when he runs afoul of Force Commander Hair-Gel and his merry band of Hair-atics. Despite this apparent badassery, Eliphas was defeated by the Blood Ravens anyway during their attack on Keep Selanon, despite being the most fucking hard to kill boss in the game aside from Martellus (FFFFFUUUUUU!!!) and Ulkair (MOTHERFUUUU!!!). He shares the horrendous amount of summons with Martellus, replacing havoc squads with bullshit amounts of bloodletters, and is accompanied by doombolt spewers that absolutely rape anything that's not Tarkus/wearing terminator armor.

He's later seen in the Judgement of Carrion, speaking to a strangely armed Abaddon. Though behind the scenes footage reveals that another Chaos terminator was in fact behind Abaddon serving as his arms. Eliphas swears to Abaddon that we will destroy the Blood Ravens. Depending on whether you think he was trying to set the prologue for the Blood Ravens to destroy themselves in a civil war or simply to outright destroy the sub-sector; Eliphas could arguably have succeeded here or come close to it.

Retribution
Eliphas apparently channels the spirit of Araghast's badassness in this expansion. His voice has grown angrier and he seems to exhibit some Blood Knight tendencies. He gets the one liners we all know and love from Dark Crusade back too. He also screams, 'BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!' very often, implying he's gravitating to Khorne (or just the gigantic boner Relic have for Khorne). Yes, it seemed as if Eliphas was finally back to his old self...

Of course, that's before he starts sucking the minuscule cock of Failaddon. Yeah, that's right. Abaddon is in this game. With a VA no less. He sounds like if Araghast has his massive balls torn off, but hey, what did we expect from Failaddon. His only purpose in the game is to whinge at you, and screech about how he wants Kyras dead. And that's because if Kyras sacrifices the Blood Ravens, he'll become a Warmaster of Chaos and a Daemon Prince. Realizing that his own incompetence shall avail him naught against a Librarian Devotee of Khorne, he enlists/blackmails Eliphas into his service, who is no doubt unaware of the armlessness. However, many people have chalked up Eliphas' subordination to Abaddon as politeness. After all, we all feel a shred of sympathy for Abaddon. Even 10,000 year old, bloodthirsty humanoid abominations who fanatically worship All-Powerful Gods of Evil and who wield mighty weapons not intended for the hands of noble, right thinking men.

Even so, Eliphas is simply so much fun to play in this expansion. Hell yeah, specc him out as a Champion of Khorne with fully upgraded sweeping doom, spend all remaining points in Nurgle, point and kill. Switch on Sweeping Doom on a horde, hell yeah, everything dies. Additionally, upon becoming a Champion of Khorne, that alone causes him to outdamage both Diomedes and Bluddflag (note that a fully upgraded To Victory does more damage than Sweeping Doom, but is harder to aim across multiple units). Speccing the rest of your points as Nurgle turns Eliphas into an unstoppable rape-machine that makes those two look like simpering pansies. (Note that spending one point on Tzeentch turns your heretics into walking batteries for energy, which means infinite zeal for Kain and the ability to spam infection and accelerate metabolism for Varius, but costs you the awesome power-booster that is the Khornate shrine.) And then, when you get Eliphas a Daemon Sword, well, given the tremendously high damage he'll do with it, and from his auras, and his health leeching, any attempt to face him in combat will be met with said person being torn to bloody shreds in under a second. Let us simply say that; Eliphas is a badass.

He starts out in Typhon hunting Thule, he tracks the old bastard Dreadnaught down and takes him out to some rather badass exchange. Killing Davian Thule is however, the most emotionally crippling thing in the campaign. :( Well that, and not finding a Daemon Sword or a helmet. He goes after Kyras, killing copious amounts of shit and then takes the big-ass Daemon Prince down. Taking some time to make Kyras bow before him first before banishing him to the void. He then ascends to Daemonhood and kills the Inquisitorial forces in Aurelia. After sacrificing the Blood Ravens to Abaddon and the entire sector to Khorne.

Excellent campaign, excellent ending. Especially the implication that once he's done with Kyras, Abaddon is next. See, Eliphas has a <s>bad</s> good habit of SINDRI-ing his superiors. Though, we use the word 'superiors' loosely, given that this Failbaddon the Armless of whom we speak.

He seems to have been nerfed somewhat as of the latest patch, even on easy units can routinely survive sweeping doom, hurt badly but still alive. He no longer has superheavy infantry armor, and can be shot to death in the face of massive dakka. Vehicles and monsters give no fucks about sweeping doom and laugh off non-maul weapons. You can rectify this somewhat by getting the flaming skull and going full Khornate, as a single barrage will shave huge chunks of HP off just about anything, letting you beat it down the rest of the way. Optimally, Kain/Varius should really be pulling anti-tank duty while Neroth and Eliphas roll around in melted enemy infantry.

He's also fairly slow unless you take the Tzeentch path. Which is unfortunate as the Tzeentch path is mostly mobility and debuff powers and you only have ten points to spend unless you get a mod to rectify this. Getting said mod is recommended as it ups the campaign to eleven and lets you try out interesting abilities usually passed up for the more effective builds.

He's still awesome as all hell, but he can't quite match the hilarity of Diomedes's TWO VICTOREH (which covers a big line, albeit not to sweeping doom levels though it does far more damage to what it does hit, and sends infantry gibs out of the skybox), a jump pack, heals per hit ability, and vehicle raping thunder hammer.

Trivia
*He seems to be suffering from a severe case of throat cancer as his voice constantly changes tone.
*His Daemon Prince (treated as a piece of wargear due to how the engine is set up) is a bit of a mixed bag, and under most circumstances you probably don't want it. Daemon Princehood is the worst wargear in the campaign if you're not playing on hard mode, and in most respects is actually a downgrade in terms of both abilities, offensive and defensive power that will lead to him getting stomped by stuff he could take as a Chaos Lord. He loses his most useful secondary effect (upgraded Chaos Lord Eliphas provides constant morale drain; Daemon Prince Eliphas does not). And his stats are all kinds of wonky between the two phases on different difficulties:
**For Dark Crusade/Soulstorm campaign modes, the player is stupidly OP on easy mode and is at default PvP strength on Hard mode. This is reflected in Eliphas's Chaos Lord form but strangely not his Daemon Prince form. On all difficulties, Daemon Prince Eliphas gets 5000 HP (compared to the normal 2900 in chaos lord form on Hard), morale damage that can instantly break any non-fearless nearby infantry, and he also disrupts massed infantry. All this with damage output effective against everything and daemon armor, some of the highest around. He swings both faster and harder than his mortal form, as well as gaining immunity to morale damage. Just watch out for Nightbringer Necron Lords, who will eat you alive. But on normal and below? Chaos Lord Eliphas does that much damage just by himself and has more than 5000 HP.
*Prior to Dawn of War III, he had equal appearances with Gorgutz and was the only evil character to return from the original DoW series in DoW II. Now, however, Gorgutz' return in DoW III has put an end to both trends... for the time being.
*He's either named after the first man to commit murder and to be executed in the state of New Hampshire, or some French occultist.
**In Dark Crusade, Eliphas had two Sorcerer underlings, Amphion and Zethus. The two men who created his portal to the Warp in his stronghold and the Warp bomb he would have used to blow up the Necrons, they are named after legendary twins from Greek mythology.
*Ironically considering his origins as an undivided lord, speccing him out as Khorne is the only way to make him effective in the campaign unless you specifically intend to fuck around with the options the other options offer (and they lack the balls-out melee punch of the former). Speccing him out as Khorne makes him more effective a combatant than every other melee campaign hero put together. This is rather fitting, seeing as how Eliphas roars out; 'Blood for the Blood God!" and "Skulls for the Skull Throne!" very often during gameplay. He has been nerfed a bit though while heroes like Diomedes and Bluddflagg got buffed. Be aware that he has lost his superheavy armor type and sweeping doom has been toned down somewhat damage wise.
*Speccing him out as Khorne not only makes him the most damaging unit in the game, it also makes him into the most successful troll in the game aside from that asshole, Kyras. Any unit hitting him will become consumed with RAGE and start hitting each other. Using the Berzerk ability on Eliphas will also cause everyone else to become FUCKANGRY.
* Evidence from Retribution and Dawn of War: Dark Crusade show that Eliphas serves Khorne above all the other Chaos Gods. The proof for this is that, Khorne is the only Chaos God he invokes by name (along with Tzeentch) and generally acts pretty Khornate. He likes fighting and killing more than regular Chaos Lords and gets angry pretty quickly. He also invokes Khorne more than the other Chaos Gods. It is finally proved in Retribution, where he literally screams the infamous 'Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the Skull Throne!' warcry regardless of whichever specialization you give him and generally keeps invoking Khorne at the exclusion of every other God except Slaanesh when killing Eldar, and Nurgle, when he tells their followers to fuck off. And he's not respectful in either instance. He also has this frightening fixation on bleeding his enemies out, as is noticed in the first Chaos mission.
*Spends every Friday night with his friends prank calling Shas'O Kais, unaware that the confused Tau is only getting static. Everybody's phone bill goes up- nobody wins.
*Eliphas can be given a permanent helmet in DoWII Retribution via a very well done and easy to install mod. http://www.mediafire.com/file/8uuu264d6ru996k/EliphasHelmet.sga. You can give me a blowjob later.
* He is definitely <s>Belgian</s> Space Belgian.
* His voiced from Chaos Rising and onwards is provided by Steve Blum, who also voices a certain Transformer called "Starscream". That explains the backstabbing tendencies. Steve only started doing that character after Chaos Rising though.
* Even more interestingly, Araghast in the same game is voiced by Fred Tatasciore, who incidentally voices Megatron in the High Moon Transformers games.
* Ol' Stevo does the voice of Wolverine, also. Eliphas basically sounds like a British Wolverine when he gets angry in Retribution now. This explains Eliphas' newfound heights of aggression.

Memorable Quotations
*"Chaos moves at its own pace, alien. Not yours." - Eliphas telling off Gorgutz for complaining about him not killing him fast enough.

*"Then I won't lie to you brother. You have been lied to enough." - Eliphas, to Davian Thule.

*"Such inspiring courage! Perhaps we'll mount your corpse on a golden chair and make an idol out of you as well." - The quote that solidified Eliphas' popularity amongst the Imperium hating Heretics.

*"Wonder instead how we could have ever trusted one such as him...brother." - Eliphas to Thule after Thule says how could the Emperor have ever trusted "trash" like the Word Bearers, and Eliphas is actually avoiding the question by that comment.

*"No...that cannot be so..." - Eliphas when responding to the Necron Lord of Kronus telling him of the coming (shit) storm of Matt Ward.

*"Alien, you come to your death." - Eliphas to Shas'o Kais, not knowing Tau having no presence in the warp means that O'Kais thinks it's just static.

*"Yesss... Come into my home, Taldeer." - Eliphas killed the Vindicare Assassin and raped Taldeer. Or vice versa.

*"The people here have already accepted the Black Testament. So will you." - Eliphas is a religious badass. Far moar so than any SPESSH MEHREEN.

*"Come! See the faith of my crusaders, they shall soon cleanse you of your disbelief." - Eliphas sending in yet another tide of squeaking Cultists and Chaos Space Marines.

*"Well done! You have come further in this blessed land than I ever thought! Lord Khorne shall drink your blood from the very soil!"

*"BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!" - Eliphas, channeling Araghast's badassness.

*"SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!" - Because <s>Khorne > Every other Chaos God.</s> overused battlecries are overused.

*"Do not be so quick to make foolish offers, Daemon. Araghast too once thought I would be an asset to his cause. Look to what has become of him." - Eliphas being a BADASS MOTHERFUCKER in the face of the ascended Azariah Kyras.

*"You wish to honor Lord Nurgle? THEN DO SO FROM THE GRAVE!" - Eliphas, upon slaughtering a coven of Nurglite guardsmen, also is funny because decomposition joke.

*"YOU FIGHT FOR NOTHING, YOU ARE NOTHING!" - Eliphas, upon soloing a Land Raider.

*"Observe, brothers. Observe how Space Marines choose to die, and how little choice they have in the matter. Come Davian, we have unfinished business!" - Eliphas, just about to kill Davian Thule, the bastard.

*"Oh, Davian, He cannot hear you." - Eliphas upon killing Davian Thule. The bastard.

*"THE ETERNAL WAR ENDS FOR YOU THIS DAY!!" - Eliphas, out-Khornate-ing a an <s>Black</s> <s>Alpha</s> Black Legion (<s>what in the fucking eleven circles of hell would make you think that the deranged chaos champion was from the Alpha legion?</s> <s>Perhaps because he bore Alpha Legion colours?</s> (Nonsensical rambling, no legion like that <u>ever existed</u>) Chaos Champion, while Typhon was getting the shit blown out of it. Said Champion died in one hit.

*"WHY DOES ANYTHING THINK I CAN BE KILLED!?!" - Eliphas, shrugging off bolter fire and in the mood for some rape.

*"An ambush, we are finished! /sarcasm" - Eliphas mocks the Blood Raven's unmanly attempts to kill him while also being sarcastic. Oddly enough, most people who hear this line miss the obvious sarcasm. Which can lead you to suspect that most people are monkeys.

*"No coward has ever remained hidden from the Black Legion! I will relish in your soul's eternal suffering!" - Eliphas expresses his idealized view of the Black Legion whilst calling Kyras' a faggot and calling him out to some FIGHTAN.

*"CAN YOU WEAKLINGS NOT FIGHT ANY BETTER?!" - Can YOU scream this to an on-rushing army of Orks after having slaughtered their Warboss? No, you can't.

*"These are the Blood Ravens; finest slaves of the Dead Emperor. We owe them much more than a quick death." - Eliphas, alluding to how he shall rape the Blood Ravens.

*"IN BATTLE, WE ALL HONOUR KHORNE!!!" - Eliphas always did worship Khorne above all the other Gods.

*"Kill any xenos and take what you need. Their pitiful souls will do little to sate the Chaos gods, but oh, how they bleed." - Eliphas once again showing his preference for Khorne and busting a sweet rhyme at the same time.

*"You cannot impede the Black Inheritance." - Eliphas, unlike a certain other Chaos Lord who's first name is Ezekyle, has a reason for his title.

*"Give my regards to Slaanesh, Eldar!" - Eliphas, showing those pansy fucks right to Slaanesh's palace.

*"Hey Corpse-Emperor, furk you." - In a letter to the Emperor, shortly before getting psychically punched from halfway across the galaxy.

Heresy

Varius serves as Eliphas' personal bodyguard (Though why he would need one is kinda empty) and resident Plague Champion in Retribution, therefore meaning that he's gonna smell worse than fuck-all because he serves an even worse-smelling fuck. It's probably a good thing he doesn't really speak, 'cause his breath would probably kill everyone; not like he could do so since his lower jaw seems to have rotted off. He also serves as the medic for the lot of heretics, using a plague to heal wounds using some sick cancerous growths. He can also use this same plague to also rot away opposition about as quick as the common flamer and, with the proper boost, can also parasitize on his plague, sucking vitality from his dying foes/recuperating allies.

He also gains another nasty trick as you advance down the energy tree: The ability to raise the dead as plague zombies. This skill's very capable of making things hectic, especially since they explode when they die. If you decide to make Eliphas Khornate and raise Khorne shrines, you get an endless stream of bloodletters that fuck shit up, die, get reborn, fuck shit up even more, and then explode, suppressing enemies and healing allies. On the whole, if you go troops-heavy with chaos, it's a must-get. However, if you're on the hardest difficulty where troops are more of a distraction to buy time for the more flamboyant ability animations than they are actual assets, his best spell is by far Accelerate Metabolism, which lets him remove the plague buff from all affected units to do massive healing or damage to them. This can one-shot most hordes and other chaff, although it suffers the crippling disadvantage of hitting only one unit at a time until you unlock plague grenades.

On the downside, while Eliphas, Kain and Neroth can all have some special expertise with certain weapons, Varius is kind of an odd child out, able to use his default bile-spewer, Chainaxes, bolters, Power Swords, Power Fists, and rocket launchers, but not really getting anything to really benefit any of those styles. Preferably, he should be at least distanced enough to allow his abilities to be used without interruption, although late in the game he can be made a decent melee fighter with some of the mission reward weapons and armor, since he's the second-tankiest character (Eliphas has better health regen by a mile).

Sindri Myr, commonly known as SSSSSSIIIIINNNNNDDDRRRRRIIII, was a Chaos sorcerer of the Alpha Legion and a notorious jackass. He betrayed the bulk of his warband and manipulated a Blood Ravens Librarian in order to obtain the Maledictum and ascend to Daemonhood. His ascension to Daemonhood was short-lived - cut short by Gabriel Angelos - but daemons are essentially immortal, so he'll probably be back eventually (although the Daemon of the Maledictum listed Sindri as a sacrifice, which means it consumed his Daemonic essence, permanently destroying him, although considering its Sindri aka the arch-sneaky jackass he probably had a backup soul to force feed the daemon).

He is well-known for his chillingly calm voice, which all but oozes evilness (except when he tries to shout; then he sounds like a pussy), and the hilarious, often sarcastic dialogue he has with Lord Bale, a level of awesomeness that no Chaos Sorcerer since has managed to replicate (ever since they changed the voice-actor in Winter Assault for reasons best-left nebulous). He is also known for being yet another example of Relic fucking up Fluff, as Sindri invokes Khorne several times (and Khorne despises sorcerers) and the Daemon who is freed by him ultimately is a greater daemon of Khorne. This is something that would be repeated in Winter Assault.

However, he probably honors all of them due to being Chaos Undivided.

Tartarus
Sindri, along with Lord Bale, sought to gain a powerful artifact called "The Maledictum" (A stone imprisoning a Khornate Daemon), located on the planet Tartarus. Being a cunning and manipulative planner (And also using the Alpha Legions tactics of stealth and guerilla warfare), he found it more tactical to hide in the shadows while their pawns, The Orks, distracted the Imperial Forces from noticing them. He constantly had to cope with Bale's bitching, mistreatment and constant threats while he carefully planned to get the Maledictum. He eventually got the key and, later on, betrayed Bale to the Blood Ravens (This was the origin of the cry of SINDRIIIIIIII, that which would later become a meme). He also was able to corrupt the Librarian Isador after constant tempting from visions (Who was then killed by Gabriel Angelos). He finally ascended as a Daemon Prince , though it was, as stated above, short lived after Gabriel smashed his face (and subsequently the Maledictum) with a Daemon Hammer. While this would normally mean he was banished back to the warp, dialogue from the daemon sealed in the Maledictum after it was freed indicates that it took him as a sacrifice like it did everything else that died on Tartarus.

About Sindri
He displays the usual traits of a Chaos Sorcerer (regardless of Chaos God affiliation): He is intelligent, cunning, manipulative, arrogant and has a constant thirst for greater power. Not to mention an incredibly smooth voice. No, seriously, Scott McNeil really hit the conniving evil sorcerer right on target. He is also shown to be very calm and laid back, even when enemies are closing in. He is also very patient and doesn't lose his temper (Though he does become very annoyed with Bale after obtaining the Maledictum). He is an oddity amongst Chaos Sorcerers because he seems to worship Khorne (Very, Very, Very odd, considering that Khorne hates and distrusts Sorcerers, to the point where he'd kill one outright if one tries to offer a sacrifice to him) Sindri is armed with a Bedlam Staff (A Tzeentchian Daemon Weapon from the previous edition), which steadfastly marks him as an Undivided Sorcerer. This is unusual as Bale appears to be a Nurgle Lord (armed with a Manreaper), though given the fact that Relic at that time has handled fluff about as well as a certain Irish midget, we should be thankful they're not all armed with Multilasers

In addition, it's worth noting that Bale's warband did not feature a single cult unit among its ranks and made use of both Tzeentchian and Khornate daemons. So it's likely that Bale and Sindri were followers of Chaos Undivided, with Sindri spouting Khornate lines only because the Daemon of the Maledictum he sought to free was itself Khornate. Had it been a Keeper of Secrets or Lord of Change stuck in there, he probably would have rattled off the catchphrases specific to the Dark Prince or the Architect of Fate. It is also worth noting that Inquisitor Toth stated that the Maledictum drove men to madness with visions of fighting and bloodshed. It wouldn't have mattered if Sindri was leaning towards Tzeentch or Undivided as the Daemon was enough to corrupt men to the service of Khorne regardless if he was a sorcerer or not.

Opportunism with regards to which god is honored is quite common among the more lucid yet secular followers of Chaos Undivided. If you want/need to appease Khorne for something, you say Khornate phrases and kill things in an angry and bloody way. If you need to appease Tzeentch, you start rattling off "just as planned" and work to enact great change. Nurgle? Get out the phrase book and spread the joy of necrosis. Slaanesh? Time for some extreme fun to be had/Eldar sacrificing. You don't commit to any god, but instead juggle around offerings and what not to get what you want. Of course, if you're not careful this turns you into a Fury after you die but it's Chaos, you could become a Daemon Prince or a Thing-that-shalt-not-be-named, you play your chances and hope you roll well.

In any case, it was less Khorne he was trying to appeal to and more the Daemon of the Maledictum; whom he ultimately really just wanted because the energies used in binding it could let him attain daemonhood. He only wanted to make bloody sacrifices to Khorne and ceaseless conflict because that was the fastest way for him to get access to the energies of the artifact and attain immortality as a Daemon Prince of chaos undivided. The goal wasn't ceaseless bloodshed for the sake of ceaseless bloodshed with daemonhood really only being a means to more such bloodshed like Kyras, the goal always was to become a big bad daemon and never have to worry about dying.

That or the Daemon's influence was affecting Sindri as well making him Khornate by simply being near it. It did it to the rest of Tartarus, according to Inquisitor Mordecai Toth, so why not Sindri? (Presumably, because he was around during the Horus Heresy which is implied by his ancient gear and knowledge about the Maledictum, so he's had a lot of experience dealing witn Chaotic influence thus more resistant to the daemon's crazy powers)

Until Macha, Angelos, and Toth killed him and the Daemon he had sought to use simply devoured him like everyone he had fed to it in his quest for power. In a sense, the ultimate irony is that despite being a master manipulator; Sindri himself was outplayed by the forces he wanted to exploit and just as he had thrown his Lord's warband, an Ork WAAAGH!, Guardsmen, Space Marines, and Eldar at the Daemon to fuel his ascension by stealing the Maledictum's power, he himself was turned into nothing but fuel for the Daemon's own plans.
*Or was he?

Trivia
*If a Chaos Lord or anyone of high-rank is betrayed by a second in command, the correct term would be "Sindri'd". You may also pronounce it as "Sindri...SIIIIIIINDRIIIIII!-'d"
*It could be argued that he's as awesome as Ahzek Ahriman (Chaos Sorcerer of the Thousand Sons). AHZEK...AAAAAAHZZEEEEEEK!
*Sindri appears to have made a pact with Slaanesh for his voice, considering it's a lot smoother and more seductive than the other Sorcerers found in the expansions. It is theorized that he can turn any woman, pious or commoner, into a heretic by simply speaking, thus it is most fortunate that the sisters of battle were not sent after him.
*His voice actor is Scott McNeil (MIGHTY IS HE), and his voice style returns in DoWII Chaos Rising for the regular sorcerers, which many heralded as the most awesome thing to happen to Chaos in a video game.
*His last lines. "Just a moment more damn you...Yes it is UPON US! BEAR WITNESS TO MY ASCENSION!!! GRAAAAAHH!!!" are perhaps the most awesome lines in all of Warhammer history, tied only by Kyras' "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!!!! LET THE GALAXY, BURRRRRRN!!!!!!!!"
* Sindri is the name of a Dorf from Norse mythology.
* No relation to Myr watsoever.
* When Sindri turns into a daemon prince, he is MUCH stronger than the version of the unit introduced in Dark Crusade (4 times the health, the model itself is bigger, and his DPS is a good sight better) and is actually stronger than the game's relic units (he's still beatable though, the player will have already those down and not even with the full arsenal the game lets them have, in addition; he only comes out to play after you've slaughtered all his mooks and are bearing down on him with your entire army). So unlike Eliphas, Carron and Thorgar The Blooded One, him turning into a daemon prince is an upgrade and not a downgrade. The others get stuck with turning into a balanced version intended for multiplayer games, while Sindri becomes a campaign exclusive super unit/final boss. Granted, we don't know how strong he was before that because he doesn't appear in levels before ascending, but we can safely assume.

Nemeroth is a Chaos Terminator Sorcerer Lord of the Chaos Warband known as the Chosen of Nemeroth. He is one of two main villains in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine.

Overview
When Inquisitor Drogan started experimenting on Warp-based weaponry (<S> apparently not knowing the Empyric Engineers already have this</S> to be fair, Vortex weapons just rip a hole open that goes into the warp, whereas this is a spark of the warp shoved into a canister), Nemeroth took a great interest in his work. For Drogan's experiments would have helped in further combating the Imperium and his ambition into ascending into daemonhood. Nemeroth's plan was to send a daemon to possess Drogan, and then use the mysterious power source that he had to power Drogan's weapon known as the "Psychic Scourge" (which would allow the creation of a Warp gate that could allow Nemeroth's Chaos fleet to enter real space). All went just as planned when Captain Titus unknowingly helped the daemon-possessed Drogan in enacting his plan.

As Nemeroth entered real space, he pinned Titus to the ground with mageeekha and sent loose half-a-dozen bloodletters on Warboss Grimskull. Pwning them as shit, Grimskull charged the chaos lord, and Brawl Ensued, leading to Nemeroth soundly defeating and pushing the greenskin off the balcony, but the Ork pulled Nemeroth down with him as he fell. After Grimskull got his face blown up by the sheer manliness of Titus's one-liner, the Imperial forces focused on the Chaos forces. Nemeroth, wanting the power source, sent his minions to seize it from Titus, whilst he waited in the Orbital Spire (which the Warp gate opened and was starting to enlarge). Titus, however, used the power source to boost the Warlord Titan Invictus to destroy the Orbital Spire, closing the gate. However, Nemeroth was still determined, and so killed Sidonus, who had the power source, and took said power source back with him to the ruined spire.

Nemeroth again faced Titus on top of the spire. Nemeroth tried to lure Titus to the side of Chaos with promises of untold power and with the Ultramarines dominating the galaxy, with Titus as their head. Titus, being too genre savvy, flatly refused Nemeroth's unconvincing offer. Whilst Titus killed off Nemeroth's minions, Nemeroth was already ascending to daemonhood. However, Titus plunged the partially daemonized Nemeroth and himself off the spire and commenced in <strike>an epic battle</strike> a quick time event taking place during free fall, where Titus crushed Nemeroth's head. MOTHERFUCKING. <strike>AWESOME</strike> ANTICLIMAX. Also goes to show the importance of helmets, if Nemeroth had been wearing a proper terminator helmet, Titus likely would have been fucked.

It could also be argued that Nemeroth had planned this as well and used the experience to corrupt captain Titus, as during the entire game he seems hell-bent on bringing Titus over to the glorious cause of chaos, and is also heard laughing evilly after losing. If that's so, he probably made up that part on the spot after meeting up with the guy, as he admits that Ultrafags weren't in the original details.

Trivia
* He is the first Chaos Sorcerer in a Relic game to make use of Terminator Armor.
* Additionally, he is also the only Daemon Prince to be seen wearing Terminator Armour in all of 40k. With the possible exception of Perturabo.
* He is certainly not the first Chaos Sorcerer in a Relic game to make use of something related to Khorne, in his case, Bloodletters. Despite the fact that Khorne hates Sorcerers.
* He has likely taken Eliphas' fad of calling Space Marines "brothers", as Nemeroth refers to Titus as "brother".
* His name, when taking out the 'me', reads as Neroth (Sorcerer of the Black Legion and Eliphas' nagging wife). This shows Relic's endless creativity in making names. Granted, Games Workshop is also guilty of this, having saddled a daemon and a Primarch with names playing on the word "anger", having reused the word "Armageddon" for both a class of Battlecruiser and a planet (Although in the fluff the class of Battlecruiser is named after the planet) and having both Skulltaker and the daemon bound in Archaon's sword have absurdly similar names.
* His statements of Titus "resisting his touch" make him sound like a molester. A guy who molests 8-foot tall, superhuman killing machines... with power claws...<s>actually, that's pretty hot.</s> BURN IN HOLY FIRE HERETIC BLAM
* His Power Claws with integrated plasma guns may have been inspired by Huron Blackheart's Flamer-integrated Power Claw.
* He pronounces 'evolution' like 'evil-lution'. This is almost certainly intentional. Or a very common English pronunciation, take your pick.
* Unlike most CSM made by Relic, he doesn't worship Khorne, or any of the Dark Gods individually, and he has Bloodletters, Blight Drones, and Tzeentch Psykers in his warband. (presumably the forces of Slaanesh were left out so as to avoid an adults only rating in America).
* He's not a very physically inclined fighter, unlike Eliphas or Araghast, both of whom can slaughter terminators by themselves. <strike>Nemeroth can't even take out a Space Marine Captain in Artificer armor as a partially transformed Daemon Prince</strike> said captain solo'd a warboss and retinue, killed 1000 plus orks with his hands on the way up, 1 vs 6's bloodletters and chaos space marines along with their traitor guardsmen. Plus, he easily bitchslaped a fucking Ork Warboss. Barehanded. And, additionally, pretty much everyone is weirded out by that Captain's Warp immunity.
* He uses powerful sorcery to pin his foes in place by holding up his hand.
* Unless the camera is positioned in the front or right side of his face, its quite hard to see if he's smiling, considering the entirety of his left cheek is completely missing for some reason (possible mutation?).
* Unlike the previous Chaos Lords in Relic's games, Nemeroth doesn't appear to aligned with any of the major legions, instead commanding his own warband, "The Chosen Of Nemeroth," with its own invasion fleet.
* Nemeroth is one of the ugliest Chaos Space Marines ever for a non-Nurgle worshiper, which is saying something.
* Even for a Space Marine, Nemeroth is fucking huge, being around Grimskull's height. This could be attributed to his Terminator Armor.
* Has <strike>small penis</strike> megalomania.
* He has a lazy eye, the worst mutation possible.

Lord Firaeveus Carron is a Chaos Lord that <s>favored Khorne (much to the latter's eternal embarrassment)</s> followed Chaos Undivided with heavy leanings towards a Lesser Deity of Chaos known as the Box God (to whom he would offer the metal boxes of his enemies in tribute), featured in Dawn of War: Soulstorm, where he led the Alpha Legion (much to their everlasting shame, they have disavowed him ever since) on Kaurava.

Like most of the Chaos Lords featured in Dawn of War (Minus Eliphas of course), he was immortalized by his awkward language and epic statement: METAL BAWKSES! He says this particular line if he should ever attack the Blood Ravens' stronghold and when they start to send Rhino Transports, and didn't even seem aware that Chaos Marines also use them. The very sight of them sends Carron flying into a rage where he loudly rants about them. He also appears to suffer from a form of space asthma, considering he takes his time and gasps loudly whenever he starts getting angry while speaking. And despite being part of Chaos Undivided, the Warp Storm has driven him and his men to complete lunacy (THHHEEEEYYY COOOMMMMEEEE!!!!) when whatever force came knocking at his door, and he makes the fatal mistake of worshiping Khorne not through battle but constructing temples in his name (which, at one point, he comes pretty close to crying about when you manage to break a few).

Put simply, he's an idiot, probably the dumbest Chaos Marine to ever live (not even Khorne can help his sorry ass, despite the fact that he acquired a Khornate chainaxe), and the voice acting for him ranges from so bad it's good to being painful to the ears. This was not Scott McNeil's finest work. He gets slightly less stupid if you play as him, but only because playable Carron is out hunting skulls while enemy Carron thinks the best way to worship Khorne is to hide behind a shield. Yes, he spends the entire stronghold mission hiding while trying to sing praises to Khorne. Like we said, goddamn moron.

Also if you should be winning in the mission against his stronghold, he starts to panic and then flies into one of the funniest despairing rages ever as he flees while his forces are being gunned down (even with the fricking cultists still holding their ground), only for him to still be caught by the enemy commander and cut down in a one to one duel - (that's right this supposedly deadly chaos marine lord could be outfought in a duel by the tau commander, known for their lack of close combat skills). Seeing him turned into a whipped whiner would make poor Eliphas cringe in shame. Canonically, given that Gorgutz was the conqueror of Kaurava he died running away from a charging Ork horde tearing through his remaining marines, cultists, and daemons while crying about flowers only for Gorgutz to prevent him from escaping by beating him to death and tearing off his head for his bosspole. So rather like Crull did, though at least Crull at least was actively looking for a fight with Gorgutz after his whole army was destroyed and was screaming threats before he got krumped; not blubbering like a baby while trying to flee like a coward and abandoning his soldiers to their deaths.

He manages to make others stupider by mere association. Tahril considers Carron to be one of the two smart enemies he faces, which automatically makes him an even bigger idiot...maybe. Perhaps it's because Carron might be the one of the few people to find where his stronghold is on the moon of Kaurava IV since Carron's stronghold is on that same planet. He still overestimates Carron's competence as a commander.

Rhinos...
His epic line is as follows: Look Rhinos...RRRHHHIIIIIINNNNOOOEESSS! OUA ENEMIES HIDE IN MEHTAL BAWKSES, DA COWARDS! TEH FEWLZ!!! WE - We should take away....their Mehtal BAWKSES.

He also has a part time job as a nature documentary commentator.

In-Game Stats
Humorously, despite being a Khornate devotee, Carron does a bit less damage than a fully-equipped Eliphas the Inheritor in the campaign. Where he makes up for this (for the most part) is that Carron is equipped with a (surprisingly powerful) Flamer that is used along with all of his other weapons, meaning that Carron has significantly better DPS than Eliphas against infantry and commanders (especially small groups), and breaks their morale a lot easier. Notably, Carron can reliably (and handily) defeat both Gorgutz 'Ead Hunter and Eliphas in a fight, mostly because the sheer morale damage he inflicts means that anyone getting near him breaks morale in only a few seconds of exposure. He's thus extremely useful and a bit less situational than Eliphas was.

For the most part, however, he can't solo things as well as Eliphas could, and he isn't anywhere NEAR as durable. Whereas Eliphas could be counted on to wreck a Relic unit's shit when maxed, Carron can't do so nearly as well, dealing a full 25% less damage to many units - damage that simply isn't made up for by his flame attacks. He also isn't as good at vehicle-busting or HQ-bashing, which was one of several reasons Eliphas is a pretty cool guy.

So the reason he hates Metal Boxes is because his melee attacks do much less to them than Eliphas' did, and the dude's jealous.

Ascension
A very interesting difference between Carron and Eliphas is that while Eliphas' Daemonic Ascension is, for most intents and purposes, a downgrade - Eliphas loses access to many of his shiniest bits (including the Daemonic Gauntlets and Banner of Chaos) - the same isn't true of Carron.

Carron, in his transformation, actually maintains several of his goodies from his standard campaign form, including the Helm of Alpharius detection ability and his Banner of Chaos ability. While he loses his ranged weapons, He is significantly better than Eliphas' Daemonic form and, indeed, Carron's standard form. He sees a 20-30% increase in damage across the board from his upgrades depending on what he's swinging at, and since he still has his Banner and the passive from his armor active (on top of his existing abilities), Carron is basically unstoppable by any enemy that has a morale score. Most enemies will be Squad Broken in moments, and the ones that don't he'll be able to use Daemonic Roar to instantly chase off. On his own, Carron's ascended form can destroy an HQ in under a minute by himself, and with full upgrades and Daemonic Strength active, can basically obliterate any opponent in the game one-on-one, with the only exception being Commander Or'es'Ka, who can lock him down with snare traps.

Maybe there was something to his devotion of Khorne after all.

Codex: Firaeveus Carron
Much like Boreale, GW decided to accept his plea to be a separate unit.

Wargear: Power armor, bolt pistol, chainsword, frag and krak grenades. Carron may take items from the Melee Weapons, Ranged Weapons, Chaos Rewards and/or Special Issue Wargear sections of the Wargear list (see p. 94 of Codex: Chaos Space Marines).

Special Rules
Rhinos....RHIIIINOOOOS!
Such is Lord Carron's hate of Rhinos that he wishes nothing more than to utterly brutalize them. Whenever Lord Carron charges any Rhino-based vehicle (Rhino Transports, Predator Tanks, Whirlwind Artillery Tanks, Razorbacks, and Vindicators. Loyalist or Traitor.) he will attack with the Smash special rule and automatically inflicts a "Crew Stunned" result once he reaches base contact with the vehicle that cannot be negated or re-rolled, regardless of the charged vehicle's abilities to do so.

Additionally, Lord Carron may not embark Rhino transports, nor may any unit he is attached to.

METAL BAWKSES!
Lord Carron has a certain disdain for any kind of MEHTAL BAWKS that it leads him to violently charge them whenever he gets the chance. Whenever he charges any non-Rhino vehicle, the charged vehicle suffers from "Crew Shaken". Additionally, he bows down to no bawks. Lord Carron automatically passes any leadership test initiated by vehicles.

Additionally, because Lord Carron loathes being inside METAL BAWKSES, he is constantly on edge whenever inside other transports. Even those that aren't Rhinos. Whenever Lord Carron is in any other vehicle; roll 2d6 every turn:

*If the result is 2-3; Lord Carron snaps within the confines of the vehicle he is riding in and it suffers -1 Hull Point, due to Lord Carron tearing out the vehicle's broadside. Lord Carron then gains -1WS, +2A, and fleet when he disembarks from the vehicle and he may also not enter a vehicle while these bonuses are in effect. These bonuses lasts for 2 turns or until Lord Carron successfully eliminates a unit in assault.
*If the result is 4-11; Lord Carron remains marginally calm. Resume the phase as normal.
*If the result is 12; Lord Carron remains focused, slowly re purposing his anger for metal boxes for anger towards the enemies of Chaos. He will no longer require additional rolls for the duration of his stay in the vehicle and when he disembarks, he will treat the vehicle as if it has an assault ramp and frag launchers, even if said vehicle does not or cannot mount one, for that same turn.

Independent Character
Firaeveus Carron is an independent character and follows all of the rules for characters in the Warhammer 40,000 rulebook.

Leader
Carron may not join any friendly units of daemons or units from the Fast Attack sections of their army lists.

NOTE: The "Fearless" and "Champion of Chaos" special rules that would be found in the profiles for regular Chaos Lords have been deliberately omitted from the rules for Firaeveus Carron, as he is neither fearless nor a very worthy champion.

Codex: Carron the Damned
After the circumstances of the Kaurava conflict's ending were explored further, GW has released an alternative set of rules for those who wish to forge a narrative wherein Firaeveus Carron was defeated, but managed to live past his canonical defeat... for a certain manner of "living".

}<br><br><br><br>

Wargear: Power fist, Multi-melta. Carron the Damned may replace or upgrade any of his weapons with the standard options available to a Helbrute. Carron the Damned may take Extra Vehicle Armor (10 pts) or Dedication to Khorne (20 pts). You may not designate Carron the Damned as your Warlord. Carron the Damned may not embark any Transports while in play, but may take a Chaos Dreadclaw Drop Pod as a Dedicated Transport.

Special Rules
Crazed
As per the rules for a standard Helbrute.

Rhinos....RHIIIINOOOOS!
Even in death Carron's hatred of Rhinos still burns. Whenever Carron charges any Rhino-based vehicle (Rhino Transports, Predator Tanks, Whirlwind Artillery Tanks, Razorbacks, and Vindicators. Loyalist or Traitor.) he will attack with the Smash special rule and automatically inflicts a "Crew Stunned" result once he reaches base contact with the vehicle that cannot be negated or re-rolled, regardless of the charged vehicle's abilities to do so. Furthermore, Carron's imprisonment in his TIGHT METAL BOX has only inflamed his hatred to near apoplectic levels. At the start of your movement, shooting, and assault phases; if Carron has line of sight to a Rhino-based vehicle within 9" of him, and if he does not respectively move towards, shoot, or fight or declare a charge against the vehicle, then Carron gains a Crazed Marker. In addition, subtract 1 from all Crazed and TIGHT METAL BAWKS! rolls until the end of your next turn, this effect can stack. In the event of multiple Rhino-based vehicles within 9", then Carron gains the Furious Charge rule and must declare a charge against the closest Rhino-based vehicle if able.

METAL BAWKSES!
Carron has such a certain disdain for any kind of MEHTAL BAWKS that it leads him to violently charge them whenever he gets the chance, and his entombment has only worsened this mania. Whenever he charges any non-Rhino vehicle, the charged vehicle suffers from "Crew Shaken". Furthermore, at the start of your movement, shooting, and assault phases; if Carron has line of sight to a non-Rhino-based vehicle within 9" of him, and if he does not respectively move towards, shoot, or fight or declare a charge against the vehicle, then Carron gains a Crazed Marker. In addition, shooting attacks not directed towards the vehicle suffer -1 to hit. In the event of multiple non-Rhino vehicles within 9", then you may choose which vehicle counts for the resolution of this rule.

TIGHT METAL BAWKS!
Carron's lucidity ebbs and flows on the tides of his shattered sanity, sometimes, he realizes that he has been trapped inside of a tight metal box. If at any time during your turn Carron the Damned has 2+ Crazed Markers, or if you begin your turn when Carron the Damned has 2+ Crazed Markers; then clear all Crazed Markers and roll 2d6:
*If the result is 2-3; Carron the Damned's fragile mental state snaps within the confines of the TIGHT METAL BOX he is entombed in. Sobbing and blubbering, Carron lashes out all units within 3" of him, resolve an attack from each of his melee weapons against them at 3WS. If there are no units in range, then roll 1d2; on a 1, resolve an attack from one of Carron's melee weapons against himself using his Front AV value, this attack does not automatically hit to represent the wild and despairing flailing of Carron, if Carron has more than one melee weapon, then randomly choose which one to be used; on a 2, Carron moves 2d6" towards the nearest building or piece of obscuring cover that will obscure him from the view of both allied and enemy units in his current line of sight, Carron will move in as straight of a line as possible to the destination, even through other pieces of obscuring cover or the walls of the building, if he does so, then destroy the pieces of cover or resolve an attack from each of his melee weapons against the building before placing him at the destination.
*If the result is 4-11; Carron remains marginally stable. Gain 1 Crazed Marker and resume the phase as normal.
*If the result is 12; Carron's little remaining sanity dissolves into a momentary madness, it is a good pain. Carron then gains -1WS, +2A, and fleet. These bonuses lasts for 2 turns or until Carron successfully eliminates a unit in assault. Carron may not gain Crazed Markers while these bonuses are in effect.
If Carron departed a transport at any time, then Carron must immediately roll on this table. If you roll on this table then you may not make any Crazed Rolls until the beginning of your next turn.

Alpharius! You can't do that! You'll create a time paradox!
If Carron the Damned is in your Detachment or Formation, you may not take Firaeveus Carron in the same Detachment, Formation, or any other allied Detachments or Formations.

The fall of Lord Carron and his delve into eternal madness.
+++++<br>
Excerpts from the heretical logs of an unknown traitor Alpha Legion marine

Section #??: The fall of Lord Carron and his delve into eternal madness.

+++++<br>

I am but an Aspiring Champion who wishes to serve his daemon masters in all things, I am but a humble follower to the True powers. I came through the warp storm along with five hundred more of my brothers as additional reinforcements as our hold in the Peninsula of Iseult was slipping due to increasing raids from Dark Eldar reivers and the Imperial fools who were led by a fearsome and dreaded commander. Indeed, we were losing ground but we all knew that we could not retreat, for it was for the eternal glory of Chaos. *The rest of the records appears are too warped to be translated, however more recent records that took place are translatable*

By my fifth day of duty in this blasted system, the Imperial lackeys were marching forth to our positions. we have lost 2 of our monuments dedicated to Khorne. We've set up a defensive line at our stronghold and we only have but 3 Defilers, and 80 of our brothers left ,and 3 heavy bolter turrets defending our main base it would appear we will not be able to hold against the Imperial Baneblades but we shall stand our ground for Chaos. At first we urged Lord Carron to requisition some Predator Tanks to help us hold the base but refused as according to him he loathes metal boxes or something like that. Three more hours into the fight and the Imperial Guard already removed the tainted field that keeps us invincible and we know that it as only a matter of time before they march onwards on us. After but a few more hours the Imperial Guard has surrounded our positions and I'm leading the remnants of my brothers in combat, apparently I'm the only one keeping them from falling back as the artillery was battering us down. We were assigned to hold the western side of the base along with a Defiler which gave us hope a bit of comfort that we might live to fight another day. The Guardsmen pored forth along with a Leman Russ tank, two of the marines in my squad still had their missile launchers so we were able to keep the tank from running over our trenchline. The Baneblade that crushed our monuments was already moving in from the distance and if the foolish lackeys don't smash us, that killdozer will. From the frantic vox-caster transmissions I was hearing it would appear that we cannot hold our positions any longer and we will have to retreat back to the warp if we were ever to serve Chaos again.

Everything then went to shit when the southern line was breached and our stronghold was destroyed, the southern line was also where our Lord, Firaeveus Carron fought in. We immediately pulled back and attempted to aid our liege who was in peril with the damaged Defiler giving us cover. We waded through the ruins of our base when suddenly a baneblade was closing in with it's cannons blazing. A large group of Cultists charged the Baneblade screaming in their girly voices "CHAAAAARRRRGGGGEEE!", it wasn't too long before the Baneblade blasted them to oblivion where a spleen suddenly flew to my face and we were showered by the unrecognizable bits of Cultists. As hurried to assist our lord, we however were too late, the general leading the Imperial Guard challenged Lord Carron to a duel and he inevitably lost, really the guy was badass with his stern voice and uncompromising look. We overran him and he fell back, Lord Carron appears to still be alive but if he was not going to survive if we do not retreat to the warp, he lost his left arm and bleeding severely. We commandeered 2 Chaos Rhinos and the surviving sorcerer conjured a small portal for us to escape in. We loaded the wounded along with Lord Carron inside the Rhinos and the rest of us fell back to the warp. I was inside the Rhino as I drove the thing to the warp and I could have sworn I'm hearing Lord Carron muttering: "metal...boxes....cowards....".

A few years after the Kaurava defeat, Lord Carron was in a long term coma of sorts, he was lying in that altar in the Chaos Temple for ages now. After desecrating countless lands and felling numerous infidels, I'm now a Chaos Lord thank the Gods and I currently serve as the commander of my warband in Lord Carron's absence. I came to pay my respects to Lord Carron as he did mentor me on a few things that propelled me to where I am today back then. While placing a pike near his body that contained the head of some Space Marine Captain, a tending heretic priest came through the doors and a shared with me the news that should Lord Carron recover from his coma, he would be nearly useless as the wounds that General back in Kaurava struck a mighty blow that rendered the lower half of his body useless, even with bionic augments installed. A Heretek who happened to stroll by overheard our conversation and recommended that Lord Carron should be interred into the hull of a Chaos Dreadnought that a Chaos forgeworld recently restored to working condition. During that time I forgot about the only thing Lord Carron hates more than anything, even more than Slaaneshi cultists begging him to become his retinue: Metal boxes.

A week later, Lord Carron was interred into the Dreadnought, I've heard that only a few Marines ever stayed sane after being attached to one and I'm worried about Lord Carron's anger issues but....what can go wrong? I thought. It was a peculiar note that it was not like the other regular Dreadnoughts Chaos used, it was more like the Loyalist's variant complete with the boxy design and twin-CCWs with a storm bolter attached to one of the claws, which wasn't readily available to us as we preferred to mount the more superior autocannons. The fallen techpriest explained that this Dreadnought was a former Ultramarines Dreadnought that was disabled by an Iron Warriors havoc squad when a havoc shot the sarcophagus with a Krak Missile. For reasons only Chaos would know, the havoc's missile only penetrated the sarcophagus' armor plating enough that the explosion was only enough to kill the loyalist pup inside but not enough to seriously damage the equipment inside the sarcophagus needed to pilot the Dreadnought. The chassis was then bought by the Forge World in exchange for 2 Chaos Predators, and they thought that in a parody of the loyalists' "Holy Dreadnought", they kept most of the Dreadnought's design, save for the Imperial symbols that were replaced with Chaos stars, with the Sarcophagus' design learned more towards Khorne as it was prepared for Lord Carron.

Going back, I was there in that memorable moment when the Dreadnought finally moved by itself and Lord Carron speaking....or grunting for the first time in ages. It stood up and looked around, Lord Carron after a few seconds finally realized that he was inside a Dreadnought Sarcophagus....which was made out of metal...and shaped like a box. The tending Tech-priest attempted to communicate with Lord Carron but he was consumed with great hate and rage, he raised his dreadnought close combat weapons into the air and shouted: "MEHTAL BAWKSES!!!!!!" over and over again and he broke out of the machinery monitoring the Dreadnought's systems. Thank the Gods we haven't fitted him with ranged weaponry other than a storm-bolter because the depot would have been razed to the ground if we armed him with anything heavier. Lord Carron tore through half the fallen Tech-Priest's depot, destroyed several vehicles inside along with some unlucky tech-priests, and tore through the reinforced blast doors, this surprised everyone as those doors were designed to withstand virtually all types of damage known to man and xenos, even hits from power weapons or a seismic hammer.

The tech-priest again attempted to communicate to Lord Carron but he appears to be drowned in rage and insanity that he does not listen to reason and all we could hear from our vox-casters were the same "METAL BOXES!" as he stormed off. Lord Carron wandered in the wastes of the warp and was never seen again. However during a few of our raids on several planets, I did hear from a few cultists that a lone Chaos Dreadnought occasionally rampages through several systems when warp instabilities appeared and created rifts from the immaterium to the materium and during those attacks he would keep screaming repetitive and unrecognizable screams that sounded like "Mehtal bakses" or something. Could it be Lord Carron? Could it be another Dreadnought? I for one do not know.
The End of Chaos

+++++<br>

Nurgle laughed. Nothing ever gave him greater joy than creating a new plague with which to spread his gift to the various beings of the galaxy. As he was putting the finishing touches on his new brew, however, he heard a rumbling sound. Curious at the unfamiliar occurrence, he turned to face it, only to be instantly obliterated before he could even complete the motion.

Slaanesh was occupied by a new batch of Eldar sacrifices, brought to it by its ever-loyal minions. "Don't worry", it cooed to its terrified meal, "all the repression you've suffered...all the rigid thoughts, endless training, tragic attempts at avoiding the inevitable...you'll forget all of it so soon. It may be unbearable at first, but perhaps in time you'll learn to accept, even relish, my...attention". The Eldar squirmed in the cage, in vain (common behavior to sacrifices), but they suddenly stilled (which was certainly not common at all). Curious, Slaanesh thought, before it heard a rumbling sound over the screams of its servants. It turned to face the sound, catching only a glimpse before being annihilated.

Khorne sat upon his throne of skulls, for the first time in millenia, with mixed emotions. More than anything, he felt rage: rage against the enemy who had deprived him of slaughtering Slaanesh himself. Angry that Slaanesh was really just pathetic after all. Angry that an enemy he knew nothing about had slain two gods of Chaos, however weak, while he had barely been able to trouble them. For all this, however, he was curious: what kind of enemy could defeat two gods within their own realms? Had the pathetic Emperor of Man gained some new strength..? Had a damnable Grey Knight become even more inexplicably powerful in recent times? Or was his foe an entirely new one?

In any case, Khorne was excited. Tzeentch had been the one to tell him of the fate of the other gods (which had been easy to verify) and had also informed Khorne he would almost certainly be next, as Tzeentch himself suddenly went into hiding. A coward to the end, Tzeentch, but Khorne awaited his challenge eagerly. Suddenly, he too heard the rumbling, coming from beyond his fortress. He stood and grabbed his favorite sword, for the first time in too many years, and he readied himself. The enemy burst forth from the walls, but before Khorne could even finish the swing of his sword, he was no more.

Tzeentch, of course, had innumerable plans for enemies powerful enough to defeat the Chaos gods, but for the first time he found himself struggling to implement them. He was constantly on the move throughout the warp, but the enemy was drawing ever nearer, and he knew almost nothing about his foe. Every attempt to discover the nature of his enemy had failed, often disastrously, so now he merely struggled for time. As he contemplated his newest plan, he heard a rumbling sound. Tzeentch fired every spell he had in every direction, but it was too late: the last Chaos god had been crushed.

In the proceeding weeks, the immaterium was somehow even more chaotic than usual. Lesser demons struggled to fill the gap of the fallen gods, and the Chaos marines either fought each other for control (more than usual), made a final, suicidal decision to charge at Terra out of despair, or simply left the immaterium to try and join those warbands who had somehow survived without the aid of any god. The Imperials rejoiced at their sudden, unexpected victory. It was a sure sign that the emperor was still fighting, still winning, and with renewed vigor they launched crusade after crusade against all who stood in their way. The Eldar simply sulked: happy to be free of Slaanesh, but sort of depressed they their entire race was no longer certainly doomed.

What, however, was the truth? Who had slain the gods? Only two men within the warp knew the full answer: a man clad in red, with a black raven, and another in black and grey, adorned with skulls and spikes. The former laughed, the latter wept. The latter had known this day would come: he had tried to warn them, again and again, of the Great Ferrous Enemy, he who's rectangular angles would destroy them. Crazy, they had called him (even by Chaos standards), how could such objects ever be a threat to Chaos? he had known, however. He knew not how, but he had known. Time and time again he had fought with all his might, but it had never been enough. In time, the ridicule wore him down, and finally, his enemy bested him, and he was taken prisoner, to eternally polish that which he had sought to destroy. Even so, however, he had dreamed that Chaos would prevail. How could Chaos possibly lose? was Chaos not the strongest? For all its strength, however, Chaos had failed.

The man in red knew failure as well: all thought he had failed on Karuva. HE had thought he had failed. In the warp, however, he learned of his Chapter's greatest secret: The Great Ferrous Crate, filled with relics from every corner of the galaxy: his chance of redemption. He led the Blood Revans in the Warp, gathering relics after their still-living counterparts had thrown them into the eye, killing all those who tried to stop him, slowly assembling the single greatest threat to the universe ever conceived: the Box God - He who would launch a great crusade to "gift" everything of value in the universe. He had already received the emperor's soul as a "gift", and would use him to turn mankind into the greatest "Beneficiaries" of the civilizations in the universe, who were as of yet unaware of the "gifts" they would bestow upon mankind.

Thus, for the enemies of man, the nightmare had only just begun.
Brother-Apothecary ########## of the Alpha Legion, ####### Company, additional entry to chapter log 999. Reporting notably out-of-place behavior within a battle brother within the ###### Company.

*Subject's name: Firaveus Carron.
*Rank: Battle Brother
*Company: #########
*Personal notes: Subject has been involved in a particularly unfavorable act of recklessness, which has been mostly overlooked, due to his acts eventually resulting in our victory.

*Additional notes of Battle Brother ########, an eye witness

Brother Carron was attached to a 10-man squad, under the command of Sergeant ########, belonging to the Alpha Legion ####### Company as an ambush force during an operation to take the Capital World's city, Tesstra's last bastion of resistance. The squad's original mission was to ambush a large infantry regiment marching through the area.

According to the data we have received from the local loyalist militia, the regiment did not contain too many armored vehicles and any that would appear can be easily dispatched with. Acting upon this information, our Primarch ########### decided that a small infiltration force consisting of 3 10-man tactical squads, would ambush this battalion while the main force would assault the city itself. Failure would mean that the city's defenders would be receiving their reinforcements and would make taking it much more difficult.

Brother Carron was relatively new to the ####### Company, having served no more than a decade as a fully-fledged battle brother. This would be him and his squad's first major operation. The other two squads, led by Veteran-sergeant ####### and Veteran-sergeant #######, would accompany them. He was also known to have partaken in an oath of silence of sorts, since his indoctrination. He has not spoken a word to anyone since he was chosen as a potential recruit from an orphanage on our homeplanet, according to the matron. Normally, this act would deny a candidate sooner or later, but the Apothecaries argued that his ability to pass all of the tests laid out for recruits with amazing efficiency would be beneficial for the chapter. He was known, however, to avoid the Rhino transports of the chapter. After the routine field exercises for recruits, Brother Carron would refuse transport, and would instead walk back to the Chapter Monastery on his own.

Going back, all was well, both squads were inserted into the area undetected and proceeded to dig in into a concealed position and waited, while the main attack force was landing near the perimeter of the capital city, preparing for the main offensive. Then, when the regiment arrived in sight, we were taken by surprise. It was a full-fledged mechanized division consisting of infantry carried by dozens of Rhino APCs and supported by a few makeshift predator tanks. Expecting mostly infantry, we were caught unprepared and were easily overwhelmed. It seems that the militia betrayed us, even the main attack force was ambushed by the enemy and were fighting back.

We did not have enough missiles to take them all down, for every Rhino we destroyed, there were more than we could shoot at and we were forced to direct most of our anti-armour weaponry on tanks, who posed much more of a threat. Veteran-Sergeant #######'s squad was all but destroyed and only us and Veteran Sergeant #######'s squad was in battle-capable condition.

The vehicles kept encircling our position, gunning us down while we tried to take aim. Whenever one of us tried to let fly a rocket, they would fire at the gunner, preventing us from accurately aiming a shot. Just then, a tank shot it's autocannon at us and destroyed our cover position, killing brother ###### in the process. As I was surveying the situation, I simply observed Brother Carron standing in the middle of our destroyed cover, staring near Brother ######'s corpse. He then dropped his bolter and picked up the Shock Mace from our wounded Brother Sergeant.

Standard Alpha Legion protocol requires us to hold our ground until reinforcements arrive, which were certainly not possible at the moment. Brother Carron however, in what could only be explained as a fit of madness, stood up high and exposed, and suddenly yelled:

"Rhinos.....Rhinos...RHINOS.....RHHHIIIIINNOOOOOOOSS!" as he jumped from our elevated ground and into an enemy Rhino. Utterly stunning both forces. This was also, the first time he broke his silence since we come to know him.

He then swung at the turret gunner, his body exploding in a shower of gore, and proceeded to smash away the upper hull of the Rhino he landed on, revealing the terrified
soldiers inside who shot at him erratically with their autoguns, their bullets bouncing off his power armor. He then held up high and armed a promethium charge while yelling:

"OUR ENEMIES HIDE IN METAL BOXES! THE COWARDS! THE FOOLS!"

Brother Carron proceeded to do the same to 3 more Rhinos. 3 Rhinos are now a smoldering ruin with the occupants either dead or burning horribly. 2 more Rhinos fell against him as he swung his Shock Mace towards them with so much force that he cleft their front armor in two, utterly killing the pilots and sending the horrified troops inside reeling. Which we promptly gunned down.

We could only watch in awe as he proceeded to jump into a predator tank, decapitating the unlucky pintle-gunner with his bare hands and then proceeded to take the tank commander and driver by the neck and heft them violently aside before commandeering the tank and proceeding to fire upon a few enemy tanks from the rear with near perfect accuracy. When his autocannon ran out of ammunition, he proceeded to speed the tank towards a stunned enemy Rhino, disabled from a fortunate missile strike, and utterly gore it into a twisted mess of metal and flesh, before dismounting.

As he stood there on the killing fields, all the vehicles proceeded to retreat, there were only around 6 Rhinos, out of the original 14, with one being abandoned by the occupants out of fear. In a statement that puzzled all of us, Brother Carron proceeded to get into the Rhino and said:

"I....I shall take away.....their metal boxes..."

He sped the Rhinos towards the direction where the Rhinos retreated. He did not wait for us to reinforce him, he did not wait to be resupplied, he simply took the vehicle and went towards, with what we realized later, was the direction of the capital city. Though in the distance, we could clearly hear him bellow on the Rhino's vox:

"YOU DIE TODAAAAAAAAAY!"

I was unable to follow Brother Carron any further as I was too busy tending to my battle brothers' wounds. But, from some of the hear-says and stories I heard around after the operation, while the attacking force was bogged down in the gates by heavy enemy fire by more predator tanks, a lone Rhino reportedly sped towards their position, crashing and destroying the enemy command predator and leaving the entire forward defense force stunned and disorganized, while the occupant, who is certainly Brother Carron, proceeded to tear open several more tanks with a shock-mace, allowing the defense force to advance and eventually take the city.
During the Chaos Campaign, the Honor Guard Dreadnought often screams about the tight METAL BOX! it is trapped inside. Possibly making the Write Faggotry above canon. And proving that someone, at THQ's HQ, is a fa/tg/uy (or a ca/tg/irl)

The Orkz can also find a beamy deffgun for Mr. Nailbrain called "Box Smasha" with a description reading something along the lines of "so you can take away da ennahmies' metal boxes" (+30 damage to vehicles!).
