The founding of the Consecrators is unrecorded and their early history totally unknown. Prior to the 3rd century of the [[M40|40th millennium]] there is no record of their existence. The chapter was first recorded at the height of the second kuppukin schism, where the entire Chapter appeared to annihilate the entire rebel force over six hours before vanishing once more. They were again absent from recorded history until three decades later when the chapter's 4th company was seen fighting alongside the [[Dark Angels]] at the Arrulas Intervention. They appear to have inherited the most revered arms of the Dark Angels Legion, preserving them carefully through the ages. They bear a close resemblance to the Dark Angels before the [[Horus Heresy]], maintaining the legion's original black colour and exclusively wear the older patterns of [[power armour]].

Consecrators are listed as one of the '''Unforgiven''' and so share the '''Inner Circle''' with the other Dark Angels successors as well as knowledge of he [[Fallen Angels]]. This would mean they should also have formations similar to the [[Deathwing]] and [[Ravenwing]]. They use mostly relics from the [[Warhammer_40,000/6th_Edition_Tactics/Space_Marine_Legion_List_(30k)|Dark Angels Legion]] , as if they were taken from the Dark Angels' darkest vaults ''(Though this is not currently reflected on the tabletop)''. This implies that they have been around for a VERY long time, since it's extremely unusual for newer chapters to inherit so many ancient relics that much older chapters hoard jealously (like over 100 suits of [[terminator]] armour for instance.) Either that or the Dark Angels have considerably more relics than they actually know what to do with themselves and dish it out to successor chapters as they are created... though it begs the question why they aren't using the best stuff for themselves.

The [[Deathwatch (RPG)]] includes Consecrators as playable characters, and to reflect the fact that they are equipped with ancient and revered equipment, every space marine carries at least one [[Salamanders|master-crafted]] item as standard issue, though as-a-rule do not have access to marks of power armour later than [[beakie|mark 6 Corvus]], which is actually a good thing, since earlier marks of armour tend to have the best machine-spirits/traits.

If the [[Dark Angels]] ever get a codex supplement, seriously these guys should be the successor chapter to focus on, since they are different enough from the other Unforgiven to actually be distinct, and it would give 40k players a fantastic excuse to use [[Forgeworld]] items that are only found in 30k [[Horus Heresy]] and have somehow been lost in the ten thousand years in between. Like [[Volkite Weaponry]], [[Grav-Weaponry]] and [[Terminator|Cataphractii pattern armour]].
