==IRL== The Soviet Union historically had a thing for artillery, and this extended to their mortars as well as certain other [[KV-2|ideas that kinda sucked.]] This continues even today in Russia, who has some of the largest artillery pools of any nation on Earth. The 82-PM-37 was a modified French weapon. The 37M was a variant that had a device to prevent double loading, a pretty helpful feature when you're lobbing rounds rather quickly at people and taking fire yourself. It could launch projectiles almost 3 KM and was originally designed to allow western ammunition to be taken in it while not giving the enemy a similar advantage. Needless to say this was great, but it was not very portable, a shortcoming in the early days of mechanization for modern armies. Thus the 82-PM-41 and 82-PM-43 were introduced. The 1941 was able to be transported on a towed carriage and was easier to produce, and the 1943 was a 41 that had some minor changes to it. These mortars were light and portable enough to be transported by motorcycle, due to their overall low weight of only 123 pounds (56 kilograms). Pretty much every one of these mortars has seen action from WWII to the modern day in armies as obvious as China to even the United States. {{Template: Soviet Forces in Flames of War}}
