== On the Tabletop ==

Unfortunately, as of 8th Edition the Fighta has been completely superseded by the larger [[Dakkajet]]. As a result, on the tabletop the Fighta is now an all-but-forgotten footnote since the Dakkajet does everything the Fighta did and does it better too, with the exception of carrying external ordnance. Other than that, about the only thing that the Fighta has going for it is that according to the Imperial Armor Index Xenos: 1 PDF file, it is only Power Score 6, compared to 7 for the Dakkajet. Therefore it can be used as cheap cannon fodder to shield [[Fighta-Bommer|more]] [[Bomma|important]] [[Wazbom Blastajet|flyers]] from anti-aircraft fire, while still annoying the living hell out of enemy flyers. It is definitely the entry-level, low tier spam plane in Ork air groups.

Its bigger and nastier brother is the [[Fighta-Bommer]] so if you see a squadron of Fightas, you could bet that a group of Fighta-Bommers is right behind them.

The Fighta was originally available via [[Forgeworld]] but it was discontinued to make way for the new plastic Ork fighter kits.
