Each Oblivion Knight-Centura is the unquestioned mistress of her own mission force through not only the strict customs of the Order but the trust placed in her abilities by those under her command, a respect earned over perhaps decades of active service, their mortal lifespans extended by the same alchemical treatments by which the nobility of [[Terra]] sees out centuries of life despite their mortal birth. While never a codified sanction, Sisters of Silence showing marks of age and long service, either psychologically or woven in with the subtle marks of their panoply, are often informally revered by their peers for their ability to survive and their knowledge, even if both were formally at the same rank within the command structure.

Knight-Centuras as mentioned, have an important role as field commanders or squad leaders for the Silent Sisterhood, although small squads of sisters can be commanded by a single [[Oblivion Knight Cadre|Oblivion Knight]], larger detachment of sisters find it much more efficient to-be led by a Knight-Centura. Because of their experience and age, Knight-Centuras are experts in rooting out [[Psyker|psykers]] and other detestable [[Mutant|mutants]] with psychic powers of various degree. Sometimes however, more than one Knight-Centura is needed to contain a particularly powerful psyker. So when it comes to psychic powerhouses like [[Magnus the Red]], multiple Knight-Centuras along with her fellow compatriots of the Silent Sisterhood are needed to weaken their target's psychic potential, via mass concentrated null-fields.

Knight-Centuras are in turn, led by the big cheese and alpha matriarch known as the '''Knight-Commander''', of which Jenetia Krole AKA the Soulless Queen is the most famous example. The rank of Knight-Commander can be considered above that a [[Chapter Master]] or a [[Canoness]] in terms of military and political importance, since the Knight-Commander is in charge of the entire Silent Sisterhood. They are charged with ordering their fellow sisters including the elite Oblivion Knights on where their next objective is. In the case of Jenetia Krole, she was the mistress of the Raptor Guard and one of the Emperor's personal battle confidantes (Although equating her as the Emprah's girlfriend is a tad bit [[Heresy|heretical]]), as well as the highest-ranking Sister of Silence during the early days of the [[Horus Heresy]].
