==History== In 1E-3E, Rillifane was an old god, almost certainly the oldest member of the Seldarine and is believed to be truly immortal in the sense that he exists as an eternal entity. Though in 5E he was said to have sprung up as one of the first primal elves that were created from Corellon's blood (actually making him younger than most of the other gods - go figure). Those "primal" elves had no physical form at that point, so Rillifane adopted the form of a tree rather than taking humanoid form like all of his peers. His duties are to ensure the health and sustainability of nature, defending woodlands against disease and predation. When the Star Elves migrated to the Yuirwood, Rillifane absorbed many of the local spirits into his own cult and retaining them as aspects, including Magnar the Bear who might have just been the lesser deity "Bear" to the Green Elves in earlier editions of the game who was a god of wilderness survival. The Leaflord also absorbed Relkath of the Infinite Branches too, who was an unpredictable Treant deity who would alternate between protecting the Elves under his care, or turning them into trees. ===Worshippers=== Though Green Elves (earlier edition name for Wood Elves before the Wood/Wild split) give reverence to Corellon as the father of their race, they generally consider the Leaflord to be their patron and rate him higher in significance. Rillifane is the protector of the places that the Green Elves call home, he nurtures life and growth, and promotes harmony with with the natural world. Unlike the rest of the Seldarine, his "church" is fairly self contained and does not involve itself with the affairs of the other gods. Clerics and Druids serve in the same congregations, though have different assigned duties depending on their class: Druids tend to and protect the forests. When a druid of Rillifane is ordained, he receives a vision of an Oak tree somewhere in his forest and will seek it out and carve the image of a small canary into the trunk; from that point onwards the tree acts as a shrine to Rillifane. If the shrine is ever destroyed or defiled, the druid (or the nearest other druid of Rillifane) will instantly know about it and seek to bring retribution on the defiler. Clerics act as missionaries and teachers for the faith, educating others in how to live with nature. If the community needs to rise up against a foreign invader, it will be the Clerics of Rillifane who unite the community and prepare them for war. clear
