==History==
Originally the Charonti were pious people, with the worship of Thanhotep as the center of their religion, and from which the practice of preserving and animating the dead originated. However, the sudden plague that also destroyed their civilization killed the majority of the priest [[caste]], and caused much of the people to forsake his worship. In the present day Jakandor, the faith survives in the Outlands, though much of its original beliefs and practices have been forgotten. In cities, most consider it bad luck to say the gods name and instead use his title, though the occasional small cult to the god springs up from time to time.
