==What is Wagadu?==
A quick and dirty way to describe Wagadu would be "[[Planescape]] filtered through African spiritualism". The titular realm is not a "world" in the conventional D&D sense - it is the afterlife and spiritual realm of a nameless Africa-like world, known only as "The Upper Realms". Players take the role of "The Fallen"; the newly arrived and heavily amnesiac spirits of dead people from the Upper Realms, who must now carve out a place for themselves in this strange, shifting realm, which they share with ancestor spirits, magical entities and other Fallen. 

As a realm, Wagadu is fluid; Fallen who produce children give birth only to spirits and monsters, and the phenomena of Falling, of souls descending into Wagadu, waxes and wanes in frequency - as a result, Wagadu's history is divided into Cycles, representing distinct periods when Fallen arrive in the realm and then stop, causing a slow extinction. The land itself shifts and flows, though it is generally divisible into several archipelagos and larger continents, which experience two major seasons: rainy season and dry season. The topography gets particularly chaotic during the desolate times between Cycles, and by the time the Fallen start descending once more, the realm has generally completely changed its face.
