==The Made-Up Debate== skubby Now, given all the awesome that (presumably) took place, as well as the backstory being (conveniently, if you want to phrase it like that) book burned, naturally some people believe (or are trying to convince others that) Henderson's glorious rebellion against GM tyranny is nothing but a false tale. This has led to debate among both fa/tg/uys as well as people not on the board on whether Waffle fooled everyone into thinking this actually happened or not. A common, but flawed argument for the made-up tale theory is that no actual jackass GM would allow such plot derailment to happen. Considering your average DM/GM - not one that's a total asshole - has trouble keeping their party on the right track, would this GM fare any better? Waffle House Millionaire said the players allowed this all to occur (and cooperated at points, such as when they dropped the yacht). Plus the GM could have easily just wanted to see where this was going and thus let their hubris (in this case, their idea that no one could actually challenge their authority) get the better of them. Conversely, another flawed argument is that if it WAS fake, Henderson would have lived through it all. This is again, flawed, as Henderson dying could have been added in for finale dramatics and/or making it seem more believable. Hell, this is more flawed than the argument above, and that's saying something. A much better argument in favor of the story being a fabrication is the simple fact that WHM allegedly created a character who was a blatant homage to someone from a movie he'd never seen, and who had a backstory partly written in a language he didn't speak. So either the tale is at least partly fictious, or WHM was being mentally influenced by an actual supernatural entity of some description. There's a bunch of other arguments that have variable merit, but going through them all would be its own article. Tl;dr: Unless Waffle comes back and says something to confirm one of the sides here, we'll never know if it really happened or not. Not that it really matters, since fictional campaign or not its impact still stands.
