==Alternatice Army list - Sea Patrol== The Sea Patrol army doesn't include much versatility in unit choices. Available are a prince which in this list is called a Sea Lord and is restricted as 0-1, Archmages, Commanders and Mages are available as normal, except their names are a Storm Weaver, a Commodore and a Mist Mage. No character can ride a steed, only flying monsters are allowed and the mages don't get Drain Magic. Instead they must choose one of two unique new spells. Otherwise the character section is unaffected, besides one little new honour which is discussed later. The core section is VERY restricted. The ONLY troop which counts as a core choice is Lothern Sea Guard, similar as in the army book except one unit can take a magic banner worth of 25 points. Also available is Ship's Company which is effectively normal Spearmen or Archers but these doesn't count as core choices. In special section are Lothern Sea Rangers which are newly branded Shadow Warriors, besides name change nothing new but they are mandatory 2+ units. Great Eagles were added in a White Dwarf errata and they are 1-2 per special choice. Rare section includes Bolt Throwers (1-2 per choice as normal) and the only real new unit: the Merwyrm. These serpents can withstand loads of S3 or S4 hits with their T5, W5 and regeneration. If you happen to know that your battlefield will be filled with watery objects, this will be a good choice since it is in hard cover in water and M is increased from 6 to 10. Now this army seems to be a High Elf army for nutcrackers who love losing. But as I mentioned earlier, there is that one new honour which is completely necessary in this army. The Sea Lord takes automatically Master of the Mists-honour. This honour gives you two advantages. First, no intrigue. The Sea Lord is automatically your general so Ld 10 bubble is granted. Second, all your Lothern Sea Guard, Lothern Sea Rangers, Bolt Throwers and characters inside units in question get a special round of shooting after the deployment is finished. In this special round of shooting absolutely no restrictions from range, line of sight or proximity to friendly units are applied. Yes, your units have UNLIMITED RANGE for this special round of shooting. The only downside in this is that you can't target any unit for a second time until all units have been shot once and so on. This honour can't be taken by any other characters so the Sea Patrol is pretty much unplayable in games below 2000 points. The complete rules for this army can be found from Storm of Chaos book and a FAQ with an errata was published in UK White Dwarf 298.
