Thematically, House Mortan is a dour House whose planet is perpetually shrouded in darkness and covered in monsters. The Knights must perpetually fight these dark monsters, developing their strength when the greater Imperium cannot aid them.  <br>
On the tabletop, Mortan's experience fighting in inky blackness translates to a skill in close-quarters, and some fun with hit modifiers. <br>
