===Weirdmageddon=== <span style='color:blue;font-size:100%'>JUST AS PLANNED!!!</span> Sometimes the end of the world can be quite unexpected event that catches everyone by surprise more out of the weirdness than even it's suddenness. A particular law of physics may not apply anymore or may get modified by some unknown force or an agent, causing dissaster, or strange beings that are neither aliens or creatures of myth invade reality and start, or it can be an eclectic mix of other more well known causes. Many of the stories featuring these types of apocalypses also keep the cause vague in order to add a layer of mystery or non-Lovecraft derived cosmic horror though some can flip-flop on the exact causes and pull a “maybe magic, maybe mundane“ scenario. These stories also often have a more narrower scope, dealing with individuals and groups rather than nations and humanity as a whole. The timescale is also often set in the In Medias Res or Immediate Aftermath since a story set in the distant or far-of future may likely stabilize the world into a fantasy realm. ====Examples==== * Adventure Time * S.T.A.L.K.E.R: A second Chernobyl disaster involving psychic experiments has turned the whole exclusion zone into an irradiated hellscape where the normal laws of physics no longer apply. * The Quiet Earth * Visionaries: This short-lived 80s cartoon is set place on an alien world that enjoyed an incredibly advanced sci-fi culture, with robots and hovercars and peace and plenty... then the three suns aligned and magic returned, disrupting all electronic technology and plunging the world back into the dark ages. * Earthdawn: A rare fantasy post-apocalyptic setting, Earthdawn is set in a fantastical world after the magic level piqued, forcing the sapient races to retreat to fortified bunkers to evade the endless legions of daemons that this brought forth; the present day is set generations later, after magic dwindles enough that it's safe to emerge and try to rebuild civilization. * Gravity Falls * Dead Reign: Whilst many people in-universe believe the Zombie Apocalypse was caused by some kind of plague, the mystical attributes of the zombies (they literally feed on psychic energy) suggest a more... "nonstandard" origin, and there is at least one demon cult running around claiming to be the true origin behind the Wave. * Death Stranding: The world of the dead has crossed over with the world of the living, resulting in all kinds of anomolies such as; rain that rapidly ages everything it touches, ghosts and ghost-monster amalgamations that nuke the surrounding area if they manage to eat you, and using the afterlife as infinite-bandwidth internet.
