=== Know your Weaknesses and know your Strengths ===
Vampire Counts broadly have two major strategies that most lists will rely on to be effective. 
Those tactics will be relying on fear and outnumbering an opponent to cause an automatic break test, and using magic combined with a high damage unit/character to roll units.

More specifically, the VC can be used in approximately 6 different ways, depending on Vampire Boodline or taking only Necromancers.

The main tactic using Vampire Counts is to summon zombies in front of the enemy. Usually in such an annoying angle that the enemy don't want to charge them since it will most likely expose the flank of the enemy. Also a new zombie unit summoned next to the enemy artillery and even the threat of Vanhel is terrifying. Unfortunately you are garanteed to have only one Vanhel (Book of Arkhan) and that book can also run out of power. So it may be better to NOT use the book for a while, since the enemy must hold at least two of his dispel dice to counter the book.
