During the war between giants and [[dragon]]s, a group of drow escaped to [[Underdark|Khyber]] from the devastation. As they wandered the undergrond they came to settle underneath the Ring of Storms, home to the long dead Qabalrin elves, and came across their lore, and there learned of the Umbra, a mystical source of power. As generations passed, the drow bound their flesh and souls to the Umbra through terrible arcane rituals, becoming the Umbragen. They believe that the Umbra slowly devours all it touches, and those closest to it tend to become cold and ruthless as their powers grow. To the Umbragen, this is a fair deal however, considering what they fight against. Many people believe that the Umbragen worship [[The Shadow]], they have the same domains as his worshippers. They're battling a constant war against the Daelkyr and their creations, which tends to make you pretty desperate.
