==3e Evoker== The Evoker was an option for a Specialist Wizard right out of the Player's Handbook in Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition. Whilst not as powerful as the "Batman Wizard" archetype, the evoker's focus on blasting and sniping was perfectly competent, and wouldn't piss off the Dungeon Master the way a played-for-cheese Enchanter or Diviner would. The simplest way to build a sorcerer in 3e is basically as a glorified evoker, although the relative dearth of spells that 3e sorcerers have mean this is actually a lot harder than it looks. The Evoker eventually got its own "full class reinterpretation" in the Warmage, similarly to the Necromancer and the Dread Necromancer or the Enchanter or Illusionist and the Beguiler.
