Khatep had a small but important role in The End Times. He sensed Nagash harnessing the Wind of Death and saw the cloud of darkness he used to engulf Nehekhara. So he had an idea how to stop him. The weapon "The Destroyer of Eternities", was a two-handed sword that destroyed the souls of those slain by it, and he figured it could kill Nagash. Khatep broke his exile and headed to Khemri to tell Settra of the weapon, despite knowing what Settra would do to him for breaking his exile.

But since he travelled by foot, by the time he reached Khemri, it was nearly imperiled by Nagash's forces. He reached Settra, who was predictably enraged by Khatep's presence in Khemri. Khatep asked only that Settra hear him out before administering the punishment. Settra, a clever man despite his rage and ego, agreed. Khatep told Settra of the blade, and Settra decapitated him as soon as he was done speaking, Khatep making no move to avoid his fate. Sadly, Khatep's sacrifice was for naught, as Skaven assassins had stolen the Destroyer of Eternities before Settra could reach it and given it to Apophas. Worse, by the time Apophas used it on Nagash, he'd consumed enough divine power that the blade couldn't destroy him.
