==Pathfinder 2e== As the above can attest, the Summoner is a class that has a lot of controversy surrounding it, so Paizo had to shift around quite a bit in order to make the class fit in a system with a much more rigid action economy and character progression system, to say nothing about the shift in power from casters to martials. The Summoner remains a Charisma-based spellcasting class, but like the [[Magus]] (who was released in the same book) these spell slots are extremely limited to two slots of the highest level and two of the level below, with any spells known elevating to the lowest-known level. Unlike the Magus, however, they don't have utility spells to break this limitation by much - The best they have is focus spells and feats that permit sacrificing a pecious spell slot for multiple slots of a lesser-elevated Summoning spell as a callback to 1E's free Summon Monster slots. While the Summoner gets a high starting HP pool at 10+Con Mod (one given usually to only frontliners), that HP is also split up with their Eidolon. Speaking of the Eidolon, they remain the central aspect to which this class is tied. As with any other pet, the Summoner will have to split their action economy with ordering their giant summon, though they can use certain actions with the "Tandem" keyword to perform actions at the same time. Following the example set by ''Unchained'', all the base forms of the Eidolons have a default statline (Or rather, each form has two statlines to pick between, with one better suited for punching and the other better suited for casting) and set of abilities to avoid cheesing out only one aspect of their build. Unlike 1E though, any additional evolutions are exclusively provided by special feats. On top of that, each of the different Eidolon forms provide access to a unique spell list akin to the Sorcerer's bloodlines. *Arcane has the Construct and Dragon Eidolons *Divine has the Angel, Demon, Psychopomp and Ghost Eidolons *Primal has the Beast, Fey, and Plant Eidolons *Occult has the Anger Phantom and Devotion Phantom Eidolons, making the Summoner also kinda like the [[Spiritualist]]. {{Pathfinder-2nd-Edition-Classes}} {{Pathfinder-2nd-Edition-Archetypes}}
