==Warcraft== Warlocks debuted in ''Warcraft: Orcs & Humans'' as the Orcs' late game caster with the lore stating they harnessed the power of the power of the underworld to destroy their enemies. By ''Warcraft II'' the warlocks had been killed by Orgrim Doomhammer when he overthrew Gul'Dan to become the undisputed ruler of the Orc Horde. Since the Orcs still needed the warlocks' magic, they were revived by putting their souls into the bodies of dead human knights, creating the Orc Death Knights. Despite their name, these were not so much knights as they were horse mounted [[Lich]]es. By the time of ''Warcraft III'' warlocks were explained as using magic first taught by the demons of the Burning Legion and the use of their magic is part of what corrupted the orcs into villainy, hence the new Horde under Thrall wanted nothing to do with warlocks. Mortal warlocks instead appeared as neutral units outside of an overpowered caster unit briefly used in the Orc campaign, and later fought at the end of the campaign. A warlock hero unit also existed in the former of Archimonde, the leader of the Burning Legion's invasion, who is '''far''' more powerful than any mortal warlock and is fought as a boss of sorts at the end of the base campaign who is a total bitch to kill unless you know the right trick. ''[[World of Warcraft]]'' made warlocks a playable caster class who focuses on summoning demon minions, direct damage spells, and damage over time spells. Warlocks magic specifically referred to as Fel magic, energy born in the chaos that exists in the clash between the Light and the Void. By and large they aren't welcome in the Horde or Alliance due their magic being used by the Burning Legion, and because fel magic can often be corrupting to the user.
