===How to deal with a Murderhobo?=== *This is written for D&D 3.5, but can generally be applied to most RPGs: If a PC's level is higher than the CR of a killed creature, the PC gets less XP from that. If the PC's level is 8 levels bigger than the CR of the killed creature, he doesn't get any XP at all. Basically, if your CR is 8 levels lower than the Murderhobo's level, you are not hostile towards them, you are not Evil and you don't have any good loot β they shouldn't even bother you. If you have good loot, but your CR is 8 levels lower, you are not hostile towards them, you are not Evil β just give the loot up! It'll be more beneficial for the Murderhobo to make you surrender and mug you (This does open the can of worms of them racketing you on a regular basis, mind.) If you are an Evil monster of sorts... well, they will kill you on the spot out of principle, but won't go out of their way to chase you around if you don't have good loot and could theoretically spare you if you surrender your entire treasure hoard (Same remark about protection racket applies)... All that applies if your GM is "Reasonable". With a competitive mindset GM, pretty much everything is on Team "Destroy the PCs", you will be killed by any Murderhobo before you do anything, really, and you will try to screw over the Murderhobo "just because you can". But even in such a case, if you don't have good loot and you're not in close vicinity of the Murderhobo, he won't go out of his way to get you. **TL;DR: If you see a Murderhobo, stealthily run the hell out of there! That's the best thing to do. Only if caught should you either fight or try to surrender and give up all your possessions (depending on known relative strengths).
