You ever seen that tongue-eating aquatic bug that shows up in fish? This is basically that, but it infests humans and animals. Victims are slowly mind-controlled and ultimately become rotting, blood-drinking zombies who literally shit out their own guts, now filled with more cymothoa eggs, spending their last few days (hours) guarding whichever water source they've infected with their larvae. And the host is fully conscious throughout the whole process, in case it wasn't horrid enough yet.
