Super noisy production with rapping from MC Ride that borders on mad, paranoid screaming and drumming by Zach Hill that is as dangerous as it is frenetic, it's easy to see why their sound sticks out it in the modern hip-hop scene. The overall abrasive textures and atmosphere of paranoia, as well as lyrical themes of technological ghettos and the horrors that lurk on the deep web make this music perfect for any dystopian cyber-nightmare setting you choose to run a game in.

*'''DJ Shadow - Endtroducing''': Sample-based hip-hop that's absolutely dripping in atmosphere and an omni-present sense of nocturnal, urban dread and paranoia. Most songs on here would be perfect for an [[World of Darkness|Old World of Darkness]] game, or really any grimdark campaign that's set in a modern city setting.

*'''clipping.''': Horrorcore, but not in the way that you might think. Where other artists in the genre go so hard that they come off as cringe (ICP), clipping. keeps it subtle. Dark and atmospheric beats that aren't afraid to embrace power noise textures, and rapping that tells dark stories of gore and violence.

*'''MF DOOM''': The KING of alternative hip hop. Incredible MC and producer who's solo discography is vast and varied, and that's not even thinking about all his collaborative albums. Pretty much everything he made was solid gold, but if you must have the abridged experience, at least listen to "MM..FOOD" and his seminal "Madvillain", often considered his best. Remember ALL CAPS when you spell the man name.
