== Star Players == Each team is filled with a variety of different positional players. However they also are capable of recruiting extraordinary players: Star Players. These players are the Blood Bowl equivelant of "Special Characters" in Warhammer and 40k. However, unlike Warhammer, these players are not quite as one-man-army as their larger scaled cousins. Instead, these players offer extra strong players with skills already given to them. Their cost and value tend to vary a lot, from high to low. Some Stars however are capable of exceptional plays which can turn the tide of the game while others are considered overtly expensive bloat. All Star Players have Loner, which means you may waste a re-roll (4+ you can use the re-roll, 1-3 you waste it)if they fail an action. This is to represent their inexperience of working with your team and/or their uppity nature of being a Star. Star Players cannot have a team apothecary used on them, so once they are injured they are out. This is explained in the background as them having their own personal team of apothecaries and won't let your teams one treat them. Below are some short descriptions of them. '''Morg 'N' Thorg''' Ogre Cost: 430k 6-6-3-10 Skills: Block, Thick Skull, Mighty Blow, Throw Team-mate, Loner The first Star Player described as he can work for every team in the game except Undead teams. One of the posterboys of the franchise and iconic for his appearance on the cover of the original BB Box art. Morg 'N' Thorg is an incredible player. An Ogre without bonehead, you can count on him to do what you ask. With block he is also very safe to attack with and with Strength of 6, can tie up and roadblock lots of players. With Armour 10, he can also very reliably take a hit. While this all sounds good on paper, he is unfortunately the most expensive star in the game at 430k. At that price you have to consider what else you could get for your inducements. You could buy another star player and a reroll, or a wizard, and still have change left. A cheaper star player and a wizard can often make as much of an impact while costing less. His value versus cost is up for debate, some consider him far too expensive for what he brings while others say he can be worth it. Generally, Morg is very good against bash teams without Claw as he can tie up a lot of players, keeping them off your own. Against Elves he can be used as a ball carrier where, if they lack strip ball, will find it very difficult to get the ball off him. But again, this comes at a considerable price tag so consider all your options before. * '''Human:''' '''Griff Oberwald''' Blitzer Cost: 320k 7-4-4-8 Skills: Block, Dodge, Sprint, Sure Feet, Fend, Loner One of the posterboys of the franchise and easily one of the most recognizable star players in the game. Griff Oberwald is among, if not the best, Star Players in the game. Griff is a beast of a player. With 7448 with block, dodge, fend, sprint and sure feet he can do it all. He is fast, strong and capable of dodging with ease. Despite having Loner, he comes with block (making blocks safe), dodge and sure feet, giving him an in-built re-roll for nearly all of his actions. 320k is expensive but he’s a player that wins games. Teams in tournaments are built around this guy. The downside is that he can steal a lot of SPP’s from your team. Nevertheless, highly recommended. * '''Dwarf:''' * '''Goblin:''' '''Ripper Bolgrot''' Troll Cost: 270k 4-6-1-9 Skills: Grab, Mighty Blow, Regeneration, Throw Team-Mate Loner A Troll with extra strength, no Really Stupid or Always Hungry. With ST6 and grab he acts as a very strong roadblock. Without Really Stupid, Ripper will also ensure you will never waste a blitz or block action unlike a normal troll. Furthermore, because he does not have Really Stupid, he can also help other trolls pass their Really Stupid rolls. While he does not come with block (making 2d blocks somewhat risky), with an assist or two, he can reliably block with 3 dice. He also adds a third troll to the Goblin team (which pushes them past their normal limit of two). With his high Armour and Strength, this will help take out opposing players and it will save your poor gobbos from getting hit, and unlike your secret weapons he’ll stay for the entire game. Furthermore, without Really Stupid or Always Hungry, Ripper can throw a Goblin on a single 3+ roll (2+ if quick pass), allowing the team to one turn touchdown considerably easier than with a normal troll. At 270K Ripper is almost a steal for what he offers the team and adds a tremendous amount of value. Hire him. Even if it means you can’t afford any bribes. * '''Elven:''' * '''Chaos:''' '''Lord Borak the Despoiler''' Chaos Lord Cost: 300k 5-5-3-9 Skills: Block, Mighty Blow, Dirty Player, Loner Lord Borak is an extra strong Chaos Chosen with the added skills of Block, Mighty Blow and Dirty Player. He adds an extra boost of strength to your team as well as surprising reliability with block. In emergencies he can also be used as a ball carrier. Lord Borak is essentially a Big Guy without the drawbacks. While he does come with Dirty Player, it is best you do not foul with him unless 1. It is the final turn and you have nothing else to do or 2. You are already up by at least 3-4 players and can afford to plant the boot in. Although a bit expensive, for Chaos teams looking for an extra buffer and reliability, he is a good choice. * '''Skaven:''' * '''Undead:'''
