===Xiao=== The Xiao are one of the oddities of The Chosen, and basically owe their origin to the fact that all the Bloodlines in the book were originally created by fan-submission; White Wolf held a contest challenging fans to submit their own interpretations of specific bloodline concepts, and there were two submissions for the Xiao (vampires able to drain emotions) that the authors liked equally well. So they just said "fuck it" and posted them both. The '''California''' Xiao descend from a mad Asian Daeva who moved to California and started a cult, from which his bloodline developed like scum in a boiling pot of poison. They are all literally sociopaths, even by vampire standards; they suffer a -2 penalty to Empathy, Expression and Socialize tests, and if placed in a situation where they are called upon to display compassion or remorse, they fail so badly they potentially risk flying into a Rage Frenzy! Their signature Discipline, Kingjan, allows them to manipulate and outright drain emotions from others, enthralling mortals or weaker vampires like a cult. The '''Tianpan''' Xiao descend from an ancient Chinese Daeva from the Qing Dynasty who loathed his Clan's enthrallment to their baser urges. His efforts to rid himself of the curse instead only made it worse, causing him to become afflicted with uncontrollable intense and erratic emotions - a trait passed down to his childer. These Xiao are terrible at making Composure checks, and particularly likely to develop Manic Depression, Phobia and Hysteria derangements. They try to compensate with their signature Discipline, Xinyao, which lets them enflame and manipulate the emotions of others.
