==The Siege of Terra== During the siege of the Imperial Palace by the traitorous forces of Chaos, Jaghatai served on the Imperial war council, generally serving as a counterpoint to Rogal Dorn by advocating more proactive moves in contrast to his brother's game plan of FORTIFY (until the Ultrasmurfs and TOTALLY LOYAL LIONS showed up). Right before the fighting began in earnest, the entire Blood Angels Legion managed to make it through the Ruinstorm with the help of the two aforementioned Legions, making the fight a bit less hopeless for the Loyalists. The Khan led a few sorties, some against Dorn's express orders, though he also got so annoyed by two high-ranking officers bemoaning their hopeless situation that he had them expelled from the council, which Dorn believed to be a regrettably unnecessary waste. Despite this, Dorn learned to appreciate parts of the Khan's initiative as it added random variables to the game Dorn and Perturabo were playing. It also allowed the White Scars to have space to do what they did best; hunkering down behind walls had never appealed to them. However, after Beta Garmon and the early battles of the siege, he realised that they would need to recapture Lion's Gate spaceport to give the reinforcements a place to dock. So with the help of their aging logistics officer and mortal foil Illya Ravallion, he mustered every tank they could and led a charge against the Death Guard at the major space port. According to earlier sources, it is said that the Khan was leading his warriors from the top of a Land Raider, a sight which became a tale that has been told in awe ever since, across ten millennia. Coincidentally, he was apparently known to overturn Land Raiders with his bare hands during the battles of the Heresy. Makes you wonder what Ferrus, Vulkan or Mortarion could flip, if they were so inclined. This battle was immortalised by murals in the Inner Palace of the "Holy Khan" (would you say he is the Bogd Khaan? Huh? Huh? White Scars humour is an acquired taste.) battling at the Lion's Gate Spaceport, against something huge, winged and wielding a scythe (no, not those chumps). Sure enough, Jaghatai had his rematch against ol' Morty in a titanic struggle. And much like when Roguebird Gillysuit had to fight Stupid Sexy Snekboi, it went about as well as you could expect: despite his best efforts, Mortarion's daemonically-enhanced strength nearly killed Jaghatai, wrecking his armor, limbs, and face. But the Khagan knew he could never take a Daemon Primarch in a straight fight, so he would have to conserve his strength and wait for the right opportunity to deliver a fatal counter. And he still had an ace up his sleeve: the power of sick burns. In relatively short order, the Khan was beaten to the point where even a Primarch should reasonably have been dead. In fact, Mortarion had so thoroughly wreaked the Khan that Mortarion, known for his now Nurgle-enhanced strength and stamina, found himself actually getting tired. Throughout the beating he was receiving, the Khan mocked and needled the Pustulant Pissant to the point that Mortarion grew enraged and careless. Some of his noteworthy zingers were that he should have fought the legion master Typhon instead, and that while Mortarion gave in to the Ruinous Powers, he stayed true and "My endurance is⦠superior." Yes, you heard right. The hit-and-run Primarch told the war-of-attrition Primarch that he was tougher. That last one bought him the opening he needed. As soon as Morty lost his cool and heavily telegraphed a finishing blow, it was time to GO FAST, and Jaghatai let loose with his last stores of strength and speed. Morty's fatigue had slowed his reflexes and leveled the playing field, which enabled the Khan to dodge blows by a hair's breadth and land counters while relentlessly attacking despite his wounds. But he knew that it still wouldn't be enough; even tired, Morty was beating the pants off the still-material Khan. So the Khan used his desperate offensive to get into position (namely, along the edge of Silence after deliberately taking a counter) to behead Mortarion, which banished him into the Warp. The duel however, left the Khan with at least one foot well through death's door and he collapsed, so visibly thrashed that his legionaries were certain that he was dead. Mortarion's banishment disoriented the Death Guard, and the Khan's fall sent the White Scars into a BERSERKER BARRAGE that enabled them to retake the Lion's Gate space port. The now-comatose Jaghatai was then carried out on a Leman Russ (no, not that guy) and Ilya, sensing life still within him, had him loaded on a Thunderhawk and sent to Malcador for healing. The remaining White Scars at the Lion's Gate Spaceport took control of the anti-orbital defenses and, after getting the guns active again, began to target the traitor fleet in orbit. The clumped up, stationary Traitors who weren't expecting a thing. They only found out once the guns started blasting and they got a call from the port's new masters...who pretty much just laughed in their faces and hung up.
