===Sorcery=== At some point at the beginning of the game the devteam had an important realisation: they had a game with magic, and a caste of science-y wizards, but not a single spell. So they added sorcery into the equation. The story goes this: shortly after the Primordial War there was a Twilight Solar named Brigid. She was uncharacteristically lame for a Solar, and underperformed in the War, about which she was angsting (that and her husband dying in the war). Then one day a spirit appeared in front of her and told her: "You'll become Mother of Sorcery, and all badass, but you must go on a quest". She answered: "Okay, why the fuck not, better than brooding", and took off. She traveled, learned, was humbled and conquered her fear, and then sacrificed her old self, wimpy and helpless, and discovered that these were the Trials of a Sorcery, of which she became the first user. Then the Sun himself appeared before her, congratulating her on finding her true calling. "Lol, sucker!" said Yozis in Malfeas. Because the spirit was a demon ,Mara, and the whole thing was a plot to teach Exalted a spell for summoning demons from Malfeas, who could then wreak havok in Creation. "Lol, suckers!" said Unconquered Sun, because he knew about a demon, but sorcery was too damn useful to be worth the risk. Basically, when Primordials made the Creation, they did not do it atom-by-atom. Rather, they invented a programming language and built it into its base to simplify the work. This is what the Sorcery is. While Charms are inherent powers of a being and express it's themes, Sorcery is independent (read: more awesome and crazy than Charms), and each spell works the same for everyone. Also, it's organized in Circles of ascending power. ====Thaumathurgy==== Not really a Sorcery per se, but related (also, can be dispelled with countermagic). While Sorcery can be thought as programming language, this is more akin to macros for different programs. It depends on elements of the world rather than caster's power and can be used by literally everyone who has two brain cells, not requiring awakened essence. ====Terrestrial (Emerald) Circle==== Available to Dragon-Blooded, and even mortals with high Essence. ====Celestial (Sapphire) Circle==== Available to Lunars and Sidereals. Also, the highest tier the gods can learn. ====Solar (Adamant) Circle==== Not even Unconquered Sun can use it. Available only to Solars and Primordials themselves. '''Evocations ''' One of the latest additions in 3rd edition, Evocation are substantially like the Noble Phantasm from Fate : abilities similar to Charms/Sorcery/ Martial arts that derivate from an artifact( which comprende a very big and varied arsenal, mechas included) , making the latter even more important. Given the bond between the various kinds of Exalted and the magical materials( Orichalcum, Moonsilver, Soulsteel, Jade, Starmetal and other that can be invented on the spot) , an evocation can be weaker, stronger or unavailable to a kind of Exalt. So far: Solar can resonate at full power with all artifacts, and a few evocation are in fact upgrades for their natives charms; Lunars and Abyssals fully resonates respectly with Moonsilver and Soulsteel, being neutral with the other materials ; Dragon Blooded resonate with Jade, dissonate with Soulsteel and can use neutrally the other three ; Sidereal and Gemititians can use properly only Starmetal and dissonate with weapons of other kind; Every Exigent differs from each other in this sector; Limititian have the short end of the stick. They're neutral with Soulsteel and dissonate with every other materials. Note that dissonate doesn't mean your character can't attune to a weapon, simply it won't work as good as its native materials. Also, just as Sorcery and Charms, Evocations can be created by the players.
