===Battle Rifle=== A battle rifle is any type of autoweapon that specialises in mid-to-long-range precision combat. It somewhat straggles the line between an assault rifle and a marksman rifle in terms of range and firepower, giving Battle Rifles some levels of ranged flexibility. Now, if you played too much Halo, you may think that all Battle Rifles come in a three-round burstfire. That is not often the case, as Battle Rifles can be semi-automatic to full-on automatic. For reasons unknown, Battle Rifles are pretty unpopular and uncommon in the wider Imperium. Maybe because nearly everyone is too braindead to care about the benefits of ranged firepower, and would rather bash their heads-in in GLORIOUS MELEE! So the Battle Rifle is a weapon that has often stayed in the shadows for quite some time. Fortunately, with the release of Kill Team: Brutal and Cunning, they made their official appearance being used by Ratlings. Although even then, the only ones who use them as standard-issue are Ratling Fixers and Ratling Hardbits, so even then, they are a unpopular weapon to use because if you want something tougher than an autogun why not just get a good pattern Lasgun and not have to worry about the larger BR cartridge. Not much is known about the Imperium's Battle Rifle outside of it having a scope with a shorter barrel. But here in /tg/, we speculate it to be an Autoweapon due to the presence of muzzle brakes, which you would only find on weapons that need to vent out excess heat and gas (i.e. combustion guns). You rarely find that on lasweapons. clear
