===Reinforced Void Armour=== A bulked up version of Void Armor. The Reinforced variant makes an unaugmented human almost as hard to kill as a Space Marine, thanks to its extra protection from Flamer style weapons and most long-range explosives. These were worn by Veletaris Storm Sections and Auxilia Flamer sections. This creates the implication that Reinforced Void Armor was meant for close-quarter firefights. With the number of Xenos who love running headfirst into the battle lines or ambushes in dark corridors, up-armoring Void Armor isn't a bad idea. Unfortunately, such enhanced protection begins to run up against the limitations of human technology. No matter how many servomotors compensate for the weight, baseline humans lack the necessary implants to seamlessly maneuver in Reinforced Void Armor. As such, your average Veletaris suffers in open spaces due to the excessive bulk of their wargear. No sane human being would get into a firefight with a Space Marine, but the Horus Heresy made for an insane time period. As such, the Auxilia had ample access Volkite Chargers and Flamers. This would make it absolute hell for anyone without a defense comparable to Terminator Armor. Yes, Volkite. Too-rare-to-be-standard-for-Astartes volkites. Yes, at this point one-fifth of the Imperial Army were Solar Auxilia. Don't think about it, heretic. By the time a loyalist or traitor got themselves close enough, most of his buddies were turned to ash or simply vaporized. Even if an enemy could survive long enough to close the gap, that enemy would be easily vaporized by the nearby allies of whoever was getting attacked in the first place. Without factoring in the difficulty of even penetrating reinforced Void Armor to begin with, it was clear that taking on these guys in melee combat was a sheer impossibility unless you were an Astartes or in a massive horde. Even then, the most assault focused of Astartes would be reduced to slinging Bolter rounds, energy beams, plasma and grenades against squads of normal humans like it was World War One in space. These brutal firefights between Auxilla and Space Marines on both sides would have most likely been common during Horus's rebellion, where average shmucks in barebones half flak armor would be turned to soup in short order, assuming any reasonable number of Auxillia turned traitor. Crunchwise, Void Armor that re-rolls failed armor saves against Templates and Blasts. This is invaluable and awesome - short of the best armour a regular human could hope for. Veletaris exclusive, though. Do note that both versions of Void Armour lack the -1 penalty the Space marine version has. As of Horus Heresy 2.0, such bonuses also come with the dubious honor of making your dudes very, very slow on foot. The “I am incapable of running” kind of slow. Come the 42nd Millennium, and you'd see that some members of the Imperial Navy field Void Armour that's a little better than a mere 4+ save thanks to a 2022 Kill Team box. This still allows the wearer to re-roll a failed armor save against Blasts and Torrents (basically Blasts and Templates like above), with the added benefit of rendering them immune to the after-effects of getting hit by any Splash weapons as well. While it's unknown if the team shown in Kill Team is a squad of basic grunts or a super-elite crack team (and the fact that the Voidsmen accompanying last edition's Rogue Trader team only got a 5+ save from their gear might make us think the latter), any fears of this technology being forever lost are a bit exaggerated. Similarly, there's also the Leagues of Votann who use void armour that's more than a step up thanks to the Kin's improved understanding of craftsmanship. While also a 4+ save, this armour not only provides better protection by reducing the impact of incoming attacks by reducing the AP of all attacks by 1, it also foils any attempts to guarantee that any hits make their mark by blocking any re-rolls to wound them. Is this absolutely insane to throw onto a basic trooper? Absolutely! But if you call this busted, then consider that all Space Marines got the same AP reduction rule, with the "we're all rocking Master-crafted gear" chapter getting the same no wound re-rolls in the re-roll crazed meta of 9E.
