===Setting Pandering=== Related to the topic above, besides not releasing classic settings [[WotC]] has instead released 4 new settings based on different IPs, three based on Magic the Gathering, which as much as are not what \tg wished for, at least were well-written, and more infamously the Explorer's Guide to Wildemount, based on the setting of [[Critical Role]]. Criticism was leveled at this not only for the obvious pandering to the fans of the show to get them into D&D, but because the first Exandria splatbook, Critical Role: Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting, which isn't an official splatbook, is objectively better, having more iconic classes and items to the setting. As of 2022 this issue has died down with Ravenloft being released and Spelljammer and Dragonlance already slated for releases.
