The backstory is, some Tanarean ruins have just opened up, of the late Mystical Kingdom's (lol) capital Arcana (rotfl). The current Empire has "annexed" this ex-Wasteland... on paper. The "Realms of Madness" would be that ex-Wasteland so, the Emperor's Writ needs help. Enter you guys. You're off to the capital of said Empire to volunteer FOR ADVENTURE.

But there's been a murder. So, murder investigation - leading to a prison. (We ''did'' say this was designed in Brazil.) Then you (hopefully) get out to start the real adventure.

Supposedly said adventure aims to be nonlinear but there ''is'' an endgame, involving divine [[artifact]]s called The Artifacts Of The Gods (lmao).

Hopefully avoiding the notice of the antiwar dragons/gods, who tend to involve themselves [[Elminster]]-style when mortals get rowdy.
