Heresy The Anointed are the elite Word Bearers Chaos Terminators, who can be sent into battle in groups or as individuals. While serving among other Word Bearers forces, the Anointed are considered the best fighters a commander will have at their disposal. ==Overview== One of the first thing to note is that the Anointed are NOT Honour Guards. The Anointed is an elite strike team meant to act as a disruptor behind enemy lines. Nevertheless, despite not being registered as Honour Guards, they do quite well as bodyguards, especially when it comes to protecting VIPs within the host. Their eliteness also means that their quite an exclusive group, and there aren't that many of them, making demand for these guys really profitable as other Chaos Warbands would pay big bucks to get even one of them to join their shenanigans. The process of induction is also equally elusive. Once a warrior-brother has entered the ranks of The Anointed, he is a member for life, and with lifespans extended indefinitely through a combination of their Astartes conditioning, bio-enhancement and the warping power of the Chaos Gods, the Anointed are only replaced on the rare occasion that one of their number falls in battle. How many of them are there, we are not sure, but we do know for certain that their numbers are artificially kept low. Although some suspect it is around 200 members as they appear whenever a Word Bearers host possesses an Icon Bearer. The Anointed also aren't new. They have a long record of fighting since the Horus Heresy. As far as equipment goes, most of them wear Chaos Indomitus Pattern Terminator Armour, although some of the very old guards still wore the ancient but heavily mutated Chaos Cataphractii Pattern Terminator Armour or Chaos Tartaros Pattern Terminator Armour. When it comes to weapons, it is pretty stock standard as far as Chaos Terminators goes. Combi-Bolters, twin-linked Autocannons, Heavy Flamers, Multi-Meltas, Plasma Cannons, Lightning Claws, Power Mauls and Power Axes are the usual armaments they carry. Word Bearers
