The Masque of the Frozen Stars are the most openly optimistic and jovial of the Harlequins, able to make even the most stoic of Craftworlder bust a gut laughing. Of course...that level of joviality is only reserved for the Eldar race, and the Eldar Race alone. Everybody else gets their bad side. And their bad side is a horrible place to be. == Overview == The Frozen Stars could be described best as the artisans of hope for the doomed race of the Eldar, and will do anything in their power to realize it. They are renowned for their players' sense of humor, always cracking jokes that land, always able to keep the spirits of the otherwise dour Craftworlders at a pretty high level-- and they'd have to be, for they believe, against all odds, that their species has a future in the galaxy, and that all the fairly obvious portents of doom are merely misguided. As a result of their inspiring message, they're most easily noticed among Maiden Worlds, performing to their heart's content to their Exodite brethren. Of course, part of the reason they're often found so deep into Eldar territory is because of their particular dark side: The Frozen Stars are Eldar supremacists in the extreme, seeing all other species of the galaxy as a particularly disgusting brand of vermin that these jokers can't abide AT ALL. Countless Humans, Tau, Orks, and various other species across the galaxy have learned well the particular brand of practical "jokes" they reserve for the non-Eldar among them, and they're not pretty: ships get single-handedly chucked into the warp, whole Hive City reactors go critical, installations and colonies fall silent save for one "lucky" contestant who has almost certainly gone stark-raving mad from trying and failing to catch their blinding fury, and whole worlds fall completely silent having lost every single member of their populace, all for being just a little bit too close to the Frozen Stars Troupers' liking. Because of this violent hatred of anything un-Eldar, it's a little unsurprising that they happen to align with any Harlequin Masques or Craftworlds that happen to be focusing their efforts on particular targets, such as the Imperium or Necrons, and are completely at odds with the Ynnari, who don't give a rats ass about the Eldar reigning supreme and instead want the Eldar to survive. Probably doesn't help that Yvraine has probably been seeing that filthy giant Mon-Keigh on the side, ick. == On the Tabletop == In 8e/9e, they're your close combat clowns. Their Masque Form: Hysterical Frenzy, gives an extra attack if a unit charges until the end of the fight phase, and their Stratagem gives an automatic 1 to any unit wound rolls that target infantry, beasts, or bikers, so they're designed to hit hard, hit fast and really not care about what happens next. Mostly because all that stuff goes to their warlord, who's trait gives out a real wicked defensive buff. Obviously designed to work with dumping as many clowns as you can feasibly dump onto the table, so be ready to pony up some cash if you want this Masque to work as intended.
