Oldschool Ghosts of Saltmarsh is an adventure module for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition set in Greyhawk that was released in May 2019. It is a collection of seven coastal or nautical-themed adventures, centered around the Greyhawk fishing community of Saltmarsh, with the adventures all being converted from earlier editions. As its name implies, the core of those adventures are the original Saltmarsh Trilogy modules from Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, U-series, by Dave Browne with Don Turnbull. U1-3 was intended for first-level parties working their way up. In this version it's all more epic. This expansion also features new expanded rules for sailing ships and generating sailing encounters, a gazetteer on the titular community of Saltmarsh, and 5th edition conversions of a number of old-school aquatic monsters, including the return of Locathah, Koalinths and Skum. ==Adventures== The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh: Adapted from the first adventure of The Saltmarsh Trilogy, released in 1981. The party is asked to investigate a reputedly haunted house on the outskirts of Saltmarsh, only to discover a smuggling operation. Danger at Dunwater: Adapted from the second adventure of The Saltmarsh Trilogy, released in 1982. The party is asked to diplomatically investigate the lizardfolk in nearby Dunwater Marsh, who were dealing with the smugglers encountered in Sinister Secret. If the party avoids indulging their Murder Hobo instincts, they learn that sahuagin are massing nearby for an attack. Salvage Operation: Originally released for Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition in 2005. The party are hired by a desperate aristocrat to salvage a long-lost sailing ship when it is finally sighted. But they must deal with the mad, cannibalistic Lolth-worshipping druid on the ship first. Isle of the Abbey: Here's our lone B/X entry, which parachuted into the series 1992. The local mariner's guild hires the party to clear out an infestation of undead amassing around a ruined abbey on a small, strategically viable island. The Final Enemy: Adapted from the third no fourth no fifth adventure of The Increasingly Inaccurately Named Saltmarsh Trilogy, released in 1983. Yes the title was this bad in the original; no it's not the end of the story anymore. The party is sent to lead a preemptive strike on the sahuagin massing near Saltmarsh. Tammeraut's Fate: Originally released for Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition in 2004. The party must investigate the fate of an island hermitage, and stop a massing army of the undead. The Styes: Originally released for Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition in 2005. The party must foil the efforts of a Tharizdun-worshipping aboleth to use a diet of terror and human sacrifices to accelerate the growth of a juvenile kraken. 3.5 also expanded upon this module series in Dungeon Master's Guide II. This details Saltmarsh years after the events noted in the modules here. ==Monsters== * Amphisbaena * Assassin Vine * Class Template: Bard * Bodak * Bullywugs: Croaker, Royal * Deep Scion * Drowned Dead: Ascetic, Assassin, Blade, Master * Fathomer (Cultist of Olhydra) * Giant Coral Snake * Giant Sea Eel * Harpy Matriarch * Juvenile Kraken * Koalinth: Standard, Sergeant * Kraken Priest * Living Iron Statue * Lizardfolk: Commoner, Render, Scaleshield, Subchief * Locathah: Standard, Hunter * Maw Demon * Maw of Sekolah * Merfolk Salvager * Minotaur Living Crystal Statue * Monstrous Peryton * Mr. Dory (Aboleth Cultist/Skum hybrid) * Pirate: Bosun, Captain, Deck Wizard, First Mate * Rip Tide Priest (Cult Priest of Olhydra) * Sahuagin: Blademaster, Champion, Coral Smasher, Deep Diver, Hatchling Swarm, High Priestess, Wave Shaper * Sea Lion * Shell Shark * Skeletal Alchemist * Skeletal Juggernaut * Skeletal Swarm * Skum * Storm Giant Quintessent * Swarm of Rot Grubs * Thousand Teeth the Devourer * Vampiric Jade Statue
