Heresy The Phoenix Guard were an elite unit within the Adeptus Astartes of the Emperor's Children and served as the personal bodyguards (And potential sex object) of their Primarch Fulgrim. ==Overview== Unlike the majority of Honour Guards in the legion which consisted only of either Terminator Armour or Artificer Armour, the Phoenix Guard consisted of both 'standard' Power Armour and Terminator Space Marines. Acting as honour guards for not only Fulgrim but also as an elite cadre that guarded officers that had gained the Primarch's favour. The greatest of the Phoenix Guard was known as Phoenix Wardens and acted as the personal guards of Fulgrim himself. The Phoenix Guard wielded Phoenix Power Spears, which were blatant rip-offs based on the famed Guardian Spears of the Custodian Guard, but without the attached Guardian Bolter. The non-Terminator Phoenix Guards wore Artificer Armour whilst their Terminator brothers all wore the expensive Tartaros Pattern Terminator Armour. They followed their leader wherever he went as part of their duties; even when he was travelling within the relative safety of the starships of the Imperial Navy. During the battle of Laer, they accompanied Fulgrim in the extermination of the Laeran species. The entire guard was apparently killed on the planet Tarsus in the Perdus Region by the Ulthwé Craftworld Eldar. A new Phoenix Guard was assembled and accompanied their Lord in a meeting with Warmaster Horus. They accompanied their master onto the Fist of Iron where they slaughtered the Iron Hands Morlock Terminators bodyguard when Fulgrim attempted to 'convince' Ferrus Manus to join Horus's cause. It is unknown what happened to them; whether they still exist as an actual unit, dissolved, or turned into Fulgrim's personal fuckbois is unknown. ==Crunch== On the tabletop, they cost 200pts for five dudes; you can buy five more for 35pts per model. These are your special Stubborn WS5 Tartaros Terminators with Skill Unmatched, Living Icons, and Phoenix Retinue, allowing them to be a Retinue for a MotL instead of a Command Squad. All of them are Characters(!) and armed with Phoenix Power Spears by default and can't take any other weapons, ranged or melee. You may purchase a Surgical Augment for the whole squad and a Grenade Harness for the Phoenix Champion. A squad of five can take a Land Raider Proteus Carrier or Spartan as a Dedicated Transport, while a unit of six or more must take the Spartan if they want one. One Terminator (not the Champion) can replace his Spear for a Legion Standard (read: Line) and a Phoenix Rapier for 25 points if the squad is a Retinue. Emperor's Children
