Heresy Whelp, it wouldn't be the Death Guard without the need of some Plague Doctors in SPEHSS. Plague Surgeons are the former Apothecaries of the Death Guard who have long since been twisted by the powers of Nurgle. Of all the new Death Guard models, this one is one of the few that does not have a name reeking of pretentiousness, although they did call the Death Guard's #1 Plague Surgeon "Nauseous Rotbone" and stick his name on the official blister pack (probably because "Plague Surgeon" is too generic to trademark on its own; it's worth mentioning that the same thing happened with the Tallyman, but not the more trademarkable Foul Blightspawn or Biologus Putrifier). Further proof that GW is letting 10-year-olds come up with names for their characters now, if any more was needed. == Overview == The unnatural resilience of the Death Guard leaves little need for conventional medicine. Instead, the Plague Surgeons tend to the well-being of the diseases that their brothers carry within their rotting bodies. Like proud fathers, the Plague Surgeons spare no effort in tending to all of Nurgle’s children. Their bodies are incubators for every form of parasite and disease, their flesh and blood offered willingly as living nurseries. As a result, the very touch of a Plague Surgeon is virulently infectious. Plague Surgeons bolster the potency of Nurgle’s plagues in friend and foe alike. The Narthecium-like instruments upon their arms contain booster-vials and macro-stimulants for plagues both natural and warp-spawned, imbuing Nurgle’s servants with new strength even as they worsen the enemy’s sickness. Plague Surgeons also have another role upon the field of battle, one that has earned them the hatred and Butthurt of loyalist Space Marines. Upon the field of battle, Plague Surgeons will gather the gene-seed of fallen Space Marines, even those from loyalist Chapters. Some of this gene-seed is used in the creation of new Death Guard, while the fate of the rest is best left unspoken. == Crunch == The Plague Surgeon allows you to re-roll 1s on your Disgustingly Resilient rolls on Infantry units within 3″. Curiously but unsurprisingly, the Plague Surgeon is better against marines in close combat than his Loyalist counterpart on account of his Gene-seed Thief ability and his mutated Narthecium plus he carries what amounts to a power sword in close combat. All in all, if used right, the Plague Doctor is a pretty decent support character that can jump out and take on Marine Characters in a pinch and synergise his fellow Plague Marines. As of 9th Disgustingly Resilient just reduces damage by 1 to a minimum of 1 for your two wound marines, <s>which means this guy has no function. Fucks sakes.</s> Nurgle has blessed us! Plague surgeon now provides nearby infantry 6+++. He is also able to heal D3 wounds to a unit within 3". So he is actually pretty good now. ==Gallery== <gallery> NauseousRotboneModel.png </gallery> Death Guard
