dnd-stub Planet Apocalypse is a 3rd party spatbook for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition written by Sandy Petersen - yes, of Call of Cthulhu fame. The book offers mechanics, adventures, monsters, guidelines and other inspiration for running an apocalyptic campaign in which your D&D world is invaded by vast armies of fiends, and essentially is the closest thing you might ever see to a crossover between D&D and Doom. The basic concept of Planet Apocalypse is that there is a fiendish realm called Underhell, which is populated by armies of monstrous beings that seek to conquer mortal worlds in order to absorb them into their own hellish plane. And now they're targeting your campaign setting. Seriously, we told you that this was basically Dungeons, Dragons & Doom. Spanning a whopping 358 pages, it includes 68 pages of sample adventures and general adventure-writing guidelines, 8 pages of spells, 12 pages of magic items, new subclasses, and a whopping 200 or so pages of new monsters. ==Subclasses== The Path of the Trophy Hunter is a Barbarian who fashions talismans from the remains of their kills and draws mystical power from their presence. The Branded is basically an homage to Guts from Berserk;; a Fighter marked with a spiritual brand from a Fiend Lord, which draws fiends to them, but also allows them to tap into the hellish powers of Underhell. Think a warlock equivalent to the Eldritch Knight. The Way of the Wastelands is a monk who has taught themselves to thrive in the apocalyptic hellhole their world has become by embracing the mantra "survival of the fittest". The Scrapper is a Rogue who specializes in creating booby-traps to punish and slay those who try to get too close. The Blood of the Lost is a Sorcerer who has a blood connection to a forgotten hero who battled the forces of Underhell in the past, allowing them to draw upon that spirit's power as an embodiment of hope. ==Fiends of Underhell== The fiendish residents of Underhell are divided into six castes, which in ascending order of power are Void Minions (the warped remnants of souls from previously conquered worlds), the First through to Fourth Circles, and finally the Fiend Lords, who rule over the fiends as a whole. Collectively, fiends are divided into Twelve Legions; Acheron, Annwn, Cocytus, Dis, Gehenna, Hades, Lethe, Pandemonium, Phlegethon, Sheol, Styx and Tartarus.
