'''Racial Character Classes''' are a game mechanic utilized across the [[Palladium Books]] line of roleplaying games, such as [[RIFTS]] and [[Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles]]. They serve as a way to allow players to play exotic, unusual, or inherently powerful creatures such as [[dragon]]s or [[cyborg]]s by tying racial abilities to a level-based progression system identical to that of the more conventional job-based classes (known in Palladium as '''Occupational Character Classes'''), as well as attaching culturally-favored or biologically innate skills and weapon proficiencies to the inherent choice of race.

'''Psychic Character Classes''' often function in a similar manner to Racial Character Classes, but the term is more rarely used - in fact, only [[Beyond the Supernatural]], [[Nightbane]] and [[Palladium Fantasy]] uses it.
