{{dnd-stub}} Hailing from the 3rd edition of [[Dungeons & Dragons]], '''Spell Resistance''' was a mechanic introduced to try and pose as a balance against the power of [[wizard]]s and other caster classes. In a nutshell, when you cast a spell on a creature with spell resistance, you first have to make a check; the DC of this check is the number indicated next to the creature's Spell Resistance trait, so for Spell Resistance 5 you got to beat a DC of 5, and for Spell Resistance 25, you gotta beat that DC 25. If you succeed on the check, your spell manages to overpower the creature's defenses and affect it normally, otherwise, you just wasted your spell.
