Walking Dead is a semi-obscure term from the /tg/ lexicon which basically serves as a catch-all term for the myriad undead who aren't some flavor of vampire, lich, ghost or mummy. The term originates from "Van Richten's Guide to the Walking Dead", a sourcebook for the 3rd edition Ravenloft setting of Dungeons & Dragons. The first of the Van Richten's Guides to be published by the Weathermay-Foxgrove Twins, alongside their books on the Shadow Fey and the Mists, it covers the various breeds of undead that Van Richten himself had never covered: Obedient Dead (zombies and skeletons; creatures raised from the dead to obey a necromancer), Hungry Dead (creatures that rose from the dead to pursue a craving, like ghouls), and the Restless Dead (creatures that rose from the grave to complete a mission, such as revenants).
