dnd-stub Zoogs are a race of rodent-like forest-dwelling pack predators native to the Dreamlands of the Cthulhu Mythos. Mentioned only in passing in the Dream-Cycle of H.P. Lovecraft, they are one of the many, many races who were basically reinvented from the ground up by Sandy Petersen and his team from Call of Cthulhu, with the largest source of such lore basically stemming from "Sandy Petersen's Cthulhu Mythos". ==S. Petersen Fluff== Zoogs are intelligent, dangerous and amoral marsupial pack-predators, resembling ratfolk whose snouts sprout a dense forest of short, thin, prehensile tentacles and whose feet are secondary hands. They have two pouches on either side of their abdomen, and a complex social structure based on a combination of generation (the longer your ancestors lived in this one patch of terrain, the more important you are) and whether they were reared in their mother's "dominant" or "secondary" pouch. They are intensely respectful of contracts, but they also believe in sticking strictly to the letter of the law, not the spirit; if there's a loophole, then zoogs will exploit it, and sometimes do so even to their own detriment. Though omnivorous, they particularly enjoy the meat of sapient creatures. ==Zoog PCs for 5th Edition== Zoogs are one of the four playable races featured in "Sandy Petersen's Cthulhu Mythos for 5e". ::Ability Score Modifier: +2 Dexterity, +1 Intelligence ::Size: Small ::Speed: 25 feet, Climb 25 feet, Burrow 10 feet (earth, sand, mud, ice only; you can either leave a tunnel and dig indefinitely, or collapse the tunnel behind you at the cost of needing to hold your breath) ::Vision: Darkvision 60 feet ::Keen Senses: Your have Proficiency in Perception. ::Bite: You can make a Bite attack (1d4 piercing damage, Light, Finesse) as an Unarmed Strike. ::Facial Tentacles: Your facial tentacles can be used to manipulate and hold a single palm-sized or smaller object a time. This does not include weapons. ::Prehensile Tail: Your tail can be used as an extra arm, but only to manipulate objects or handle tools; it cannot use weapons or shields. ::Pouches: You have two small pouches, each of which can fit a single cup-sized object or four palm-sized objects. You can use a bonus action to Use an Object in the form of retrieving an item from these pouches by way of your tail or facial tentacles. ::Trap Culture: You automatically count as proficient with both artisan's tools and thieves tools, but only to create or disable a trap respectively. Additionally, you have advantage on saving throws against traps. ==Gallery== <gallery> Zoog tom ardans.jpg Zoog Dreamlands 3e.jpg|Call of Cthulhu RPG Zoog Kingsport 4e.jpg Zoog Dreamlands 5e 2.png Zoog B3 PF.jpg|Pathfinder Zoog Wizard.jpg|Cthulhu Mythos for 5e Zoog Rogue.jpg inconspicuous zoog CoC CG.jpg|Call of Cthulhu card game zoog burrow CoC CG.jpg furtive zoog CoC CG.jpg ancient zoog CoC CG.jpg curious zoog CoC CG.jpg stealthy zoog CoC CG.jpg secretive zoog CoC CG.jpg </gallery>
