			== The Kingdom of Kumandra (Origin: Raya and the Lost Dragon) ==

			King: Virana, Queen of Fang

			There are two arguments for who truly rules Kumandra, the shattered lands south of the Hunnic Kingdom. On one hand, there is the Land of Fang, a resplendant and organized government protected by a system of canals and diverted rivers to protect their people and water their lands. The other, more rational answer is that the "king" of the region are the dangerous and eldritch Druun. Beings of smoke and hatred, the Druun are said to have existed as long as humans have shown disharmony in Kumandra. Ever since the shattering of the mythic Dragon Gem, the five regions of Kumandra have been overrun with Druun and the statues left in their wake. Only the region of Fang was able to hold out from the dangers of the monsters, and their proximity to the Hunnic lands has enabled some measure of trade. Unfortunately, the clan is little more than a client state of the Huns, their only bargaining chip the Dragon Gem in their possession and acting as the last bastion against the Druun moving north into China.

			Land: Kumandra

			From the deserts of the Tail, to the snowy forests of the Spine, to the wetlands of the Talon, Kumandra's people have always been divided against each other. Depsite this, the land itself suffers not from the Druun. Instead, the long, snaking rivers and laid out canals rely on the Dragon Gem shards that still exist. Providing the lifeblood of the rivers of the region, whoever controls the gems also protects their people from the predations of the monsters. At present, Fang has found four fo the five shards, but the fifth still eludes them. This has allowed the Fang to extend their control, creating outposts protected by canals and bringing their rival clans to heel. For some, this has only meant that they must retake the shards for themselves, and free themselves from the yoke of the Fang. The only other constant in Kumandra are the "statues" left behind when the Druun consume a human being. Animals are immune from this process through unknown means, though many suspect that unlike a human being, an animal would never turn on someone that offers them help.

			Rule: Man's Disharmony

			Trust is essentially non-existant in Kumandra, and not without reason. Deceit was what shattered the Dragon Gem, and the occupation by Fang hasn't helped matters. While their actions have created a labyrithine maze that has kept the majority of the Druun at bay, their soldiers are still forced to contend with members of the surviving clans of the region plotting to take the remaining shards of the gem for their people. Adventurers managing to arrive in Kumandra will instantly be marked as untrustworthy by the locals, and depending on the region can face anything from fast talking con artists to savage warriors to unscrupulous mercenaries. The most dangerous human threats are the warriors of Fang, but even they pale to the threat of the still-roaming Druun. Only animals remain free from the dangers of the beasts, and human adventurers must find other means to survive should they be cast out of the protected settlements.

It is a land of ten-thousand dangers. Areas where the Inquisition are strong have less of a fairy presence, but have their own rather obvious problem. The people of the Fae Lands are paranoid and jumpy, have odd speech patterns to avoid obscure words and phrases that may anger the Gentry and are fearful of outsiders. Though at first grateful to the wizard, the animals grew jealous of his magical powers, and under the leadership of a tyrannical lion, attacked him and managed to steal his magic amulet before sailing away to the island of Namboombu to establish a kingdom of anthropomorphic animals all their own. That lion was the great great great great grandfather of King Leonidas, who rules sovereign over the island, and that amulet was the Star of Astaroth--now a prized heirloom of the Namboombu royal family. Unbeknownst to him, the amulet around his neck holds the secret to Astaroth’s most powerful spell; an incantation to enchant inanimate objects to life. Even if the lion knew the Star’s secret, it’s quite likely he’d ~~ever~~ bother to use it. His island kingdom provides everything he needs, and the decadent king has little ambition outside of his own amusement. Nearly all of the kingdom’s coffers are put to use putting on games of sport.  As the ruler of all that is below, the Nome King will ruthlessly pursue anyone harboring gems, precious metals, or chickens in the land of Oz. Whenever an outsider is transported to Oz by a foul wind or the wandering spirit of Ozma, the Nome King's spies are quick to leer from the stones and report back to their master. As the Nome King lies beyond the Deadly Desert, heroes would need to find a way around it to face him. Mombi enjoys her status and fears the Nome King's wrath, so she would not work against him lightly. The Nome King's true form is that of a brimstone monster, but he will present himself as humanoid, courteous, and gentlemanly to guests he believes present no threat. The Nome King will toy and play with his opponents, but an unexpected loss will transform him into the cruel, sadistic monster he is on the inside.
