	Unusually for WWII infantry, Combat Engineers wore [[Armor\|Body Armor]]. Some Soviet troops were glad for the extra protection, others found them more trouble than they were worth. In the thick urban combat of Stalingrad and later Berlin, these vests were highly valuable, as they protected from flying concrete shrapnel and heavy grenade usage.
