A large portion of the Core Worlds were colonized at a rapid pace to give a central region of controlled space to Terra. The Core Worlds provided mining facilities, agricultural worlds, and factory planets at the very heart of a growing galactic effort to expand mankind's dominion. No planet was deemed too inhospitable for humanity's boundless ambition however.

Millions were captured and thrown aboard slave-transports, their fates given up to the dark purposes of the Cult of Krenz. Far more were slaughtered to entertain Rakizor's twisted warrriors. Exirus did not win liberty from these invaders, but simply awoke one day to find that the Komra had left their world, satisfied by their harvest of human lives. For most of the survivors, their sole refuge had been deep in the sub-levels of the hives. Hardy gangers steeped in the knowledge of the underways were transformed from a blight on society to its salvation. Together with the heads of the privileged few who had seen out the invasion in the remote parts of Exirus, the gang leaders became the chieftans of a primitive order.


	A single man decided that unity among the Exirans would be necessary for survival. His name was Johan. He knew that if the enemies who had destroyed everything ever came back, they would have to bring themselves as a whole. Already clans ~~were forming in the mountains~~, ~~hoarding their hard mined metal found beneath~~ the ~~earth. The scattered survivors began to toil in fields, requiring replacement tools in time. This division could not stand. But rather~~ than ~~marching over the planet as~~ a ~~conqueror, he came with a solution~~. ~~Since~~ the ~~families~~ in ~~the mountains held on the leverage~~, ~~they would be above the farmers. Surrendering personal freedom for resources, the nobles would rule them and manage territory for the benefit~~ of ~~all~~.		Survivor clans warred and skirmished with one another, the immediate needs of survival more pressing than a far-off dream of co-operating and rebuilding. But slowly the alliances that formed in these petty wars stabilized into larger realms, a patchwork of realms led by hereditary warrior-aristocrats. Many would-be Kings and Emperors arose, attempting to subjugate their neighbours by force or diplomacy. The first to succeed in forging an enduring realm was Johan. He had the humility to style himself merely the Kaiser-Elect of Exirus, pledging himself as the justice of the realm and protector of the wronged. This unsteady regime would endure internal wars and Xenos raids for thousands of years.


	~~The Patriarchs of the nobility~~ would ~~vote upon a leader. This man would hold little power. He would not~~ be ~~an overseer~~, or ~~a despot~~. ~~Rather his role would be~~ to ~~act as protector, able to bring together all the people's of Exirus~~ in ~~a time of extra-planetary crisis~~. ~~They would be named~~ the ~~One World Nation~~ to ~~signify their unity. Countless scattered survivors agreed on this, but there were dissidents. After naming Johan Protector~~-Elect ~~the clans descending upon these territories bringing them in line.~~


	~~The years passed. Decades became centuries~~, ~~generations diluted~~ the ~~meaning and message~~ of ~~their forebearers. People were so obsessed with rebuilidng~~ and ~~reclaiming they forgot to write down something for people to remember. The core~~ of ~~ideas remained, but their details wore off. The upper class became nobility,~~ the ~~farmers into peasants~~. ~~Territories were handed out as titles, gifts. Princedoms arose, as did Duchies,~~ and ~~Counties with a Kaiser to act as Protector of it all. Thousands~~ of years passed with this being the case. The autonomy given to the various regions of the Nation turned it into a loosely banded Empire. Prince-Foremen went to war to prove who could act as a better Kaiser-Elect.
