In 3e, he instead turns them into weeping willow trees, a state from which they can be saved. In AD&D, killing a kizoku just requires stabbing it in the heart with a stake carved from weeping willow wood; in 3e, the stake has to come from one of the trees made from his victims and be both carved and wielded by somebody who truly loved that victim... with the added punch that the sacrificed maiden can then only be restored with a Miracle, Wish or True Resurrection spell, whilst all the other maidens the kizoku victimized will instantly be restored to life.
