Logistics don't matter if the weapon you're supporting cannot do its job and if we go by the lore specifications of the lasgun, it cannot do the job of a combat weapon. This, combined with it's non-existent armor-penetration, makes it basically useless for anything other than mowing down unarmored civilians. Who just so happen to be the rebels that nearly the entirety of the Imperial Guard spends all its time killing. We and the Imperium can make claims about logistical benefits all day but at the end of the day it's pretty clear why the Imperium wants it and killing aliens is not a factor. The final nail the coffin is that stormtroopers are canonically trained to build hotshot lasguns from scratch in the field, which means that mass-producing them in factories must be even easier and dirt cheap. Stormtroopers just happen to be primarily deployed against threats to the Imperium instead of angry civilians.
