In both instances, the prisons are imperfect with Rovagug's slowly weakening and with Tharizdun's prison being the kind where he doesn't realize he's imprisoned but the second he does, he will escape. The only real difference is that Rovagug came from the abyss and came about in a more natural(?) way whereas Tharizdun is an eldritch abomination from outside of reality and actually CREATED the abyss.
