Latest revision as of 16:27, 20 June 2023

With all the new Monstrous/Gargantuan creatures that have been released, there have been a lot of complaints made against it in the manner of the creature being mechanical and therefore, better classified as a Walker. This page aims to fix that, preferably without adjusting points costs.

Special Rule[edit | edit source]

  • Mechanical: Models with this special rule are immune to the Poison, Fleshbane and Force special rules. However, attacks with the Haywire special rule wound on a 2+ and are Rending, attacks with the Armourbane special rules cause Instant Death on a roll of 6 To Wound and the Lance special rule will wound on a 4+ and gain a re-roll if the weapons strength is higher than the targets toughness.

The simplest fix is a special rule to represent a model with a mechanical nature. Give it to Necrons, Battlesuits, Mechanicum machines, servitors and anything else that's appropriate.

Vehicles to Infantry[edit | edit source]

A WIP section involving converting all vehicles into an infantry unit. This is the most difficult because it requires the most re-statting.

  • AP 1 weapons inflict two wounds instead of one.
  • Melta (within half range) and Armourbane weapons deal double the normal number of wounds (AP1 weapons with these rules cause 4 wounds, anything else causes 2).
  • Poison, Fleshbane and the Force special rules do not affect vehicles.
  • Haywire weapons always wound vehicles on a 2+ and have the Rending special rule against vehicles.
  • Lance weapons will always wound vehicles on a 4+ and will get a re-roll when its strength is higher than the targets toughness.

Creatures to Walkers[edit | edit source]

This fix involves converting Monstrous/Gargantuan Creatures into Walkers/Super-Heavy Walkers. The models stats and rules are unchanged aside from the additions provided.

Tau[edit | edit source]

Stormsurge[edit | edit source]

Name WS BS S FA SA RA I A HP
Stormsurge 2 3 6 12 12 12 2 2 6

Unit Type: Super-Heavy Walker (Open-Topped)
Special Rules - Fall Back: The unit may retreat from close combat as if it failed a morale check despite being fearless as long as it isn't unable to move for any reason.

  • Barrier Shield Generator: When a model with a barrier shield is struck by a Destroyer attack and a ‘Devastating Hit’ result occurs, the amount of Hull Points removed is halved but the shield stops working until the start of the controlling player’s next turn.

Special Rules - Fall Back: The unit may retreat from close combat as if it failed a morale check despite being fearless as long as it isn't unable to move for any reason.
