Mistborn is the name of a fantasy series created by Brandon Sanderson which features unique magical systems. It contains a large amount of Awesome and, for the first three books,Grimdark in fuckhuge amounts, although not quite Warhammer 40K level.
The Mistborn adventure game is an RPG produced by Crafty Games, set in Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn universe. It is the most METAL RPG ever, mainly because the magic system revolves around, well, metals.

Both the books and RPG are set in the final empire, which ranks only slightly below the Warhammer 40k universe on shitty places to live. Ash constantly falls from the sky, thick mists obscure the night, and the peasant class is treated little better than slaves. An immortal god-emperor known as the Lord Ruler (no, not THAT God Emperor) rules the whole lot with an Iron (hehe) fist. Enforcing his rule are the Inquisitors (Again, not THOSE Inquisitors), Terrifying creatures with spikes extruding from their bodies and driven through their eyes; Koloss, huge blue Orc/ Troll like creatures whose skin tears as they grow; and the Kandra, a race of shape shifters who can mimic any person whose bones they have consumed. Still, it's not all bad. You might just be lucky enough to be born with Allomancy, the ability to ingest and burn metals to gain supernatural powers, allowing you to soar through the air with steel, punch a man's head off with pewter or manipulate people's emotions with zinc and brass. Those fortunate enough to have all of these powers are known as Mistborn.

Players take the role of a Mistborn, regular human, Kandra or Terrisman (Essentially the ultimate butler, with a different kind of magic known as feruchemy.) and attempt to survive the criminal underground and scheming nobility of the Final Empire.

The 'hero' was tempted by the prospect of unlimited power and fell to evil. Using said unlimited power, he severly fucked up the world by placing it too close to the Sun, which caused said sun to appear red and everything started to burn. To counter this, he created six volcanoes who only spewed ash. He then went on a butt-kicking rampage that would have made Khorne proud, conquering the whole known world.

It is about a thousand years later. The Lord Ruler, as he became known, still rules the world. He stops aging by combining metal magic and a different type of metal magic.

However, there is resistanse. A badass thief named Kelsier, utilizing said metal magic (the first type), has decided to go and overthrow the Lord Ruler's Final Empire. To do this, he created a plan that would have made Light cry in a corner because he's such a pathetic little fuck.

The Mistborn adventure game is an RPG produced by Crafty Games, set in Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn universe. It is the most METAL RPG ever, mainly because the magic system revolves around, well, metals.

Setting[edit | edit source]

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

The gameplay of Mistborn TAG is heavily story-focused, with character creation consisting of reading out your backstory and generating your stats and abilities from there. When rolls are required, they are done using a pool of D6s generated based on a character's skills and the situation at hand. Campaigns are usually based around the players performing jobs as part of a thieving crew, although a fair few instead focus on navigating the political labyrinth of the nobility.
