Was never a Wargear Codex in second ed, unless you mean Dark Millenium and that was mostly the add-on for the psychic system rather than dedicated to wargear (though it had a lot of that too)

Wargear is equipment (that is, "gear") used in combat (that is, "war").

In the context of Warhammer 40,000, wargear refers to all of the equipment available for an army to use, like weapons and vehicle upgrades. Often, a codex will have a chapter dedicated to an army's wargear, which is usually divided into sections for Weapons (for soldiers) and Vehicle Upgrades, and may include other sections for whatever unique gimmicks the army has (personal armour, arcane weapons, and the like).

In Second and Fourth Editions, there was a whole Codex dedicated to wargear, with sections for every army.
