If you wanted to have a textbook-example for cyberpunk, you could choose the much (and rightfully) hyped Deus Ex Machina.
Or you can use The Matrix as an example, if you have to explain it to someone who actually doesn't give a shit so that you don't sound like a total weirdo talking about cyborgs and psionics and reality-in-reality tunnels.

If especially the reality-in-reality aspect of the genre has become one of your pet-peeves, or if the fact that you can never prove to yourself whatever you see as actual reality, aka the matrix dilemma, to an extent that it actually gives you borderline masochistic pleasure to get mind-fucked, then this game is the wet copper-alloy dream of your audiovisual cortex.
You will feel as if they stole alot from other games, but it kind of makes sense when you consider that the game you play through actually is (spoiler spoiler spoiler spoiler)

The whole game is build on a pen and paper homebrew that the makers mixed in their college days and then used as core to base a real-time combat system and storyline on.
It shares similiarities with Shadowrun, because grimdark magic in the future and you can replace your nerves with cables- wee!

So, now you have an article about that. Bye.
