The Gurl is a mythic creature most Dungeons & Dragons players will never get to meet. The Garl on the other hand was a prehistoric offshoot from some pre-Neanderthal past. Where they are found, they are on the ogre or hill giant template: ten feet tall, stupid, and overall Frazetta Man.

Since these monsters are on the lost-world template, Ritchie and Arneson couldn't resist adding some to the Valley of the Ancients south of Blackmoor.
